Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 F-53 stripped motorhome chassis and F-59 stripped commercial chassis, equipped with Antilock Brake Systems (ABS). The brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Units (HECU) on these vehicles may be missing valve block ball plugs, potentially causing a brake fluid leak or air ingestion during electronic brake…
Risk and remedy
Risk
A brake fluid leak or air ingestion can lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the HECU for missing valve block ball plugs, replacing the unit as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 22, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S41.

10164497For Ford and Lincoln vehicles that require positive or negative battery terminal replacement, it is not necessary to replace the complete battery cable harness (14300 and 14301) for this concern. Positive battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-AA and negative battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-BA are available for this type of repair. Do not cut or shorten the battery cable, instead carefully remove the affected battery cable clamp and clean the cable end as necessary to preserve wire length. Some rework may be necessary for some vehicle environments. Bend the new positive battery cable clamp as needed and crimp it to the existing battery cable. Make sure to use heat shrink tubing over the battery cable to battery cable clamp connection. Obtain the heat shrink tube locally.

10160931On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.
10155574Various 2013-2019 vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P264F after powertrain control module (PCM) replacement. This DTC indicates that the engine serial number (ESN) must be programmed into the PCM. The ESN is located on PTS> OASIS> Features> Engine Serial Number. Once the ESN is obtained from the historical vehicle bill of materials (HvBOM), it can be programmed into the PCM using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Navigate to the toolbox tab> powertrain menu> Service Functions> ESN.
10138524The Accessory (Wireless) Keyless Entry Keypad can only be used with vehicles that are factory built with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE). The master code for the Accessory (Wireless) Keyless Entry Keypad can be retrieved from FMCDealer - Parts and Service - Parts Product Line Information - Keys/Entry Devices - Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Access to this site is granted through Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES) and Dealer Principal, General Manager or Parts and Service Director can authorize users. Once authorized the retrieval process for master code can be obtained. The master code for the Accessory Keyless Entry Keypad cannot be retrieved from the body control module(BCM) with a diagnostic tool.

10127405Some vehicles may exhibit a no start condition with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and a DTC P161A after PCM replacement. This may be due to the parameter reset procedure not being properly completed. To clear this DTC, use the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software, select - Toolbox - Body - Security - PATS Functions - Parameter Reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure. This procedure will transfer the existing Key ID information between the modules without the need of having 2 programmed PATS keys present. There is no need to program keys when the PCM is going to be replaced. Additional information can be found in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-01. Missing or lost keys are not warrantable.

10100082The 2017 powertrain control/emissions diagnosis (pc/ed) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle body (etb). For all etb concerns, the appropriate diagnostic must be completed before throttle body replacement. If a concern IS intermittent and no dtcs are present, refer to historical dtcs and the pc/ed, section 3 no dtcs present index chart for further information.
100994632009-2017 vehicles equipped with a 6R80, 6r100, 6r140 automatic transmission have an updated main control valve body overhaul procedure. Refer to workshop manual (wsm), section 307-01 for main control valve body (7a100) overhaul procedures. Not all valve bodies require replacement. Inspect the valve body bores, springs and valves as directed during diagnosis and repair. Refer to general service bulletin (gsb) g0000093 automatic transmission main control inspection for a video clip to aid in the diagnosis of these repairs.
10099458Some vehicles may exhibit an illuminated mil with diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) p0011, p0012, p0014, p0015, p0016, p0017, p0018, p0019, p0021, p0022, p0024 and/or p0025. This may be due to small debris causing the vct solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the vct solenoid, refer to powertrain control and emissions diagnosis (pc/ed) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected vct solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6m280 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards (slts) manual.
10095824Some 2017 f-super duty, e-series, F53 motorhome, F59 chassis, f-650/750 vehicles equipped with a 6.8L engine with an engine built on 10-sep-2016 and through 15-feb-2017 may exhibit multiple misfire diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) p0300, p0301, p0302, p0303, p0304, p0305, p0306, p0306, p0307, p0308, p0309, p0309 and/or p0310. This may be due to an under torqued crankshaft pulley bolt. Before attempting any diagnosis or repairs, suspect under torqued crankshaft pulley bolt as the issue.

10091003Setting the correct tire inflation pressure IS an important step in the pre-delivery process and during routine maintenance intervals. Recent customer clinics revealed that most every vehicle in the clinics had the tire pressures set incorrectly. Tire pressures from the factory are not set to the correct specification. Maintaining the correct tire pressure IS key to the ride characteristics of the vehicle and affects ride quality, handling, load capacity and tire wear. The recommended pressure settings can be found on the tire information label in the driver's side front door jam. Do not use the tire pressures listed on the sidewall of the tires. Maintaining the tire pressure IS part of normal maintenance. It should be rechecked monthly, per the owner guide and during the recommended tire rotation intervals.
