Exhaust entering passenger compartment. dealer found that the catalytic converter failed,. replaced exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and gaskets. officers began complaining of headaches and the odor of vehicle exhaust in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. the complaint included moving and stationary. problem identified and replaced by local ford dealer. we are also in the process of replacing another catalytic converter in the other police interceptor. fyi: all three of our interceptors are sequential in production and the issues seems to be affected 2 of the 3 near the same mileage.

During the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration?s (NHTSA?s) investigation into the Ford carbon monoxide allegations, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) identified additional Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports with similar exhaust odor claims.Presently, ODI has identified 791 VOQs for Model Year…
During the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration?s (NHTSA?s) investigation into the Ford carbon monoxide allegations, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) identified additional Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports with similar exhaust odor claims.Presently, ODI has identified 791 VOQs for Model Year 2011-2017 Ford Explorers pertaining to exhaust odor claims.ODI has identified three crashes and 41 injuries potentially linked this issue.The reported injuries range from unspecified to loss of consciousness, with the majority being nausea, headaches, or dizziness ? all of which can be symptomatic of carbon monoxide exposure.Additionally, Ford provided 2,400 reports including owner complaints, warranty claims, dealer field reports, and legal claims, that involve 2,051 vehicles that may be connected to the exhaust odor issue.NHTSA's Vehicle Test and Research Center tested multiple vehicles, including complaint vehicles, during the investigation.ODI also conducted field inspections of complaint vehicles and crashes involving police units that occurred while the officers were on duty.When possible, data was collected to quantify carbon monoxide levels in the examined vehicles.Based on the information gathered to date, NHTSA upgraded this investigation to an Engineering Analysis (EA17-002).

- 10194428Some 2015-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

This may be due to various conditions in the window motor including excessive drive gear backlash, bushing wear, and/or excessive end play. To resolve the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the window motor, window motor connector, window regulator, upper glass run, and door glass.

- 10094586Supercedes tsb 16-0165: some 2011-2015 explorer vehicles may exhibit an exhaust odor in the vehicle with the auxiliary climate control system on. Customers may indicate the odor smells like sulfur, or that exhaust odors are entering the vehicle cabin. This condition may be worsened when the climate control system IS in recirculate mode and the vehicle IS heavily accelerated for an extended period. Whether and to what extent any customer or occupant of a 2011-2015 explorer vehicle experiences the exhaust odor will be affected by driving habits, weather and individual sensitivities. Follow each and every step of the tsb service procedure in procedure 1 to improve the condition.
