• 10190551Warranty Information letter announcing that DTNA is increasing the Standard Diagnostic Times (SDTs) shown. The updated after treatment system (ATS) diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) pump times will be applied to repair orders opened on or after April 12, 2021.

DTNA is increasing repair strategies for determining the root cause of Detroit DD heavy duty lower end bearing failures. To support this strategy change, Detroit now has two (2) Standard Diagnostic Times (SDTs), easy and difficult, which can be applied to repair orders.

There is a short supply of exhaust clamps, part number DDE A6809950502, used as inlet and outlet exhaust clamps on GHG17 heavy duty engines (DD13, DD15 and DD16) with a 1-Box aftertreatment configuration. Exhaust clamp part number TCX T130158342AC2 may be used as a substitute for DDE A6809950502, but be aware of the different torque specs between the two parts.

• 10184785Revised Freightliner Service Bulletin for Axle Flange Gasket Replaced with O-Ring. Revision removed steps instructing removal and installation of wheels. Daimler Trucks North America has released a new axle shaft to hub rubber O-ring (part number 11-30728-000) as a replacement for the paper gasket (part number 11-14418-000). The new O-ring will provide better sealing and is reusable. It is quicker and easier to use compared to the paper gasket, because using a paper gasket requires cleaning the hub when the axle shaft is removed.
• 10181759Updated Freightliner Service Bulletin for Powernet Troubleshooting Guide - Batteries, Path, Alternator, and Starter. This bulletin replaces the version dated 5/31/2017. Information is added about the BCT-460DTNA PowerNet Assessment Tool. When troubleshooting Powernet issues, use the BCT-460DTNA PowerNet Assessment Tool. As of May 29, 2018, the AutoMeter is the only Daimler-approved tool for troubleshooting vehicle Powernet issues.
• 10181052DDC Technical Service Letter for GHG17 DD Platform Heavy Duty Oil Pan Drain Plug Inserts. Some GHG17 DD Platform Heavy Duty oil pans may experience an issue with the oil pan drain plug insert spinning during removal or installation while completing an oil change. Leaking may also be observed at the drain plug and/or other plugs in the oil pan.

Though the backup light harness is long enough to connect to the backup light switch, it may be short enough that the wire seals in the connector can be stressed. Moisture entering through the seals can cause corrosion, resulting in a bad connection and/or failure of the switch. As a result, backup lights and, if equipped, the backup alarm, may not function when the vehicle is shifted into reverse.
