The contact owns a 2016 Harley-Davidson FLRT Freewheeler. The contact stated that while riding 60 MPH, the front wheel had seized with smoke coming from the front tire after the handlebar brake was released. The motorcycle was taken to the dealer on two separate occasions where the calipers, rotors, and brake pads were replaced twice; however, the failure recurred. The motorcycle was then taken to Seacoast Harley-Davidson (17 Lafayette Rd, North Hampton, NH 03862) where the dealer replaced the rotors, brake pads, and front and rear master cylinder brakes, as well as cleaned the calipers; however, the failure recurred. The motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

Harley Freewheeler Hydraulic Clutch keeps failing on me and when that happens it won't drive. I don't understand why a lot of Harleys had a recall for this problem but my 2016 does not even though it the same problem as the recall bikes. I keep calling harley headquarters about this but they are very rude. It not fair that I have to pay to get this fix while the other Bikers get it for free because of the recall. My bike should be part of the recall because I am have a lot of problems with this situation. Harley refuses to help me . Because of this I was almost in a accident when the clutch gave out and the bike jumped. My wife was with me at the time and we could had gotten killed in a accident. Because when I tried to downshift and my bike clutch did not work the bike jumped.

When you ride the motorcycle the exhaust system gets so hot that it burns your calf. I received first and second degree burns on them with jeans and boots on. Went to er for the burns

I don't really know what happened why it didn't stop or how I spent 25 days in icu but the more I read bout the recalls for clutch and brakes failing on other models it would explain what happened and why it wouldn't stop and I wracked

As of January 28, 2020 all Trike platform vehicles will be manufactured using the new reverse motor. The new reverse motor will be used to replace reverse motor assemblies (Part No. 83388-09, 83388-09A,83388-09B) that have failed diagnostics. Refer to Table 2. This motor contains several improvements for better motor durability.
- 10162967SERVICE BULLETIN M1492: 2017 - 2019 TOURING - MILWAUKEE EIGHT - INNER PRIMARY VENT. Purpose: Revision. Harley-Davidson has learned that a small percentage of dealers and customers are finding low transmission oil levels and high primary oil levels during normal maintenance intervals. This could indicate that oil is transferring from the transmission case to the primary housing through the transmission mainshaft. A inner primary vent service kit (Part No. 26500027) is now available to address this issue. The kit allows the primary to breath and prevents excessive pressure. All markets are affected.
- 10158168SERVICE BULLETIN M1450: MILWAUKEE-EIGHT EQUIPPED VEHICLES - LOSS OF POWER OR HIGH ENGINE BRAKING. REVISION. Purpose: 2017 - 2019 model motorcycles equipped with a Milwaukee-Eight? engine can experience a condition known as sumping during extended periods at high rpm or under heavy engine load. Sumping is when an excessive amount of oil is suspended in the engine crankcase and the flywheel must travel through the oil, resulting in loss of power or a high degree of engine braking and potential engine component damage with extended use under these conditions. This bulletin provides the diagnostic procedure for determining if sumping is occurring.
- 10155120SERVICE BULLETIN M1359: 2014 - 2016 TOURING - HYDRAULIC CLUTCH LINE REPLACEMENT. PURPOSE: REVISION. A leak may occur on some Touring, CVO Touring, Police Touring and Trike models equipped with hydraulic clutch. The leak may occur when the line is replaced or when a P&A clutch line is installed. The area of the leak is at the joint where the clutch line attaches to the secondary clutch actuator (right side of the transmission). Required Dealer Action: Use Snap-on Flare Nut Socket (Part No. GAN85087B) and Snap-on Torque Wrench (Part No. QJR117F or similar) to tighten flare nut. Each time clutch line is installed or torque is adjusted to determine if leak is still present, bleed the clutch system.
- 10139399TECH ARTICLE TA0023: TA0023: Crankshaft Rod Bearing. Purpose: Technicians have been falsely identifying connecting rod bearings as failed due to a perception of resistance as the rods are rotated. The clearance of the Twin Cam and Milwaukee-Eight crank pin bearings are maintained to a very tight range. This optimizes performance and maintains low mechanical noise in operation. The connecting rod bore can also distort slightly in operation due to stress relaxation. As a result, bearing clearance decreases due to the contact zone broadening and the load being distributed over more rollers. The combination of a bore being slightly out of round and reduced bearing clearance can result in varying degrees of resistance through the range of motion. Axial clearance is also tightly controlled for proper alignment. For these reasons, zones of resistance can be found when the connecting rods are rotated by hand through their range of motion. Resistance during rod motion, by itself, is not an indication of a performance or durability concern.

A high percentage of reverse motors that have been returned are in good condition. The belief is that the 150 A circuit breaker is tripped, and not fully reset. This is causing the technician to replace good parts that they believe are faulty.
