Harley davidson dyna street bob model years 2011 and 2012 has a chrome tail light assembly that sticks up off of rear fender. The bracket on the underside supporting the tail light assembly IS just about the same width as the tail light assembly itself. When in motion and with the associated vibration, the rear fender cracked on both sides of the tail light assembly and right along the supporting bracket. Further motion and vibration accentuates the cracking. If gone unnoticed, could lead to tail light assembly falling into rear wheel causing significant damage and possibly an accident while in motion. in my opinion, manufacturers defect IS the culprit. Insufficient bracket for the size and weight of tail light assembly. Driving style has little to no input. motorcycle was 8 years old and around 13000 miles when cracks were first noticed. images show initial cracks about 2 to 3 inches on both sides of tail light. Those were welded as a temporary fix until a new fender could be ordered. Subsequent cracks formed alongside initial cracks after 200 more miles.

- 10139399TECH ARTICLE TA0023: TA0023: Crankshaft Rod Bearing. Purpose: Technicians have been falsely identifying connecting rod bearings as failed due to a perception of resistance as the rods are rotated. The clearance of the Twin Cam and Milwaukee-Eight crank pin bearings are maintained to a very tight range. This optimizes performance and maintains low mechanical noise in operation. The connecting rod bore can also distort slightly in operation due to stress relaxation. As a result, bearing clearance decreases due to the contact zone broadening and the load being distributed over more rollers. The combination of a bore being slightly out of round and reduced bearing clearance can result in varying degrees of resistance through the range of motion. Axial clearance is also tightly controlled for proper alignment. For these reasons, zones of resistance can be found when the connecting rods are rotated by hand through their range of motion. Resistance during rod motion, by itself, is not an indication of a performance or durability concern.
- 10090241The purpose of this bulletin IS to create dealer awareness of a change in registered accessory labor codes and associated times.
