10185627When replacing an engine block with service part no., 11401E0380 there is potential that 2 rear oil passage plugs may be missing in the rear of the replacement engine block. In the event your replacement engine block does not have these 2 oil passage plugs, you will need to install them before proceeding
10185625The tech tip below is to reset the speedometer after a tire size change or rear end gear change.
10185624The following procedure is for resetting the engine hour meter display showing total running time, driving time, and idling time of the vehicle in minutes and seconds. Total shows the time from engine start to engine stop. Drive or Idle shows the time of total driving time and total engine idling time. When the hour meter reaches 999.9 it will stop. The display can be reset to 0 to continue tracking engine hours for maintenance purposes by following the procedure below.
10185622When replacing an audio unit for a CD player issue, the CD may not eject properly from the unit. DO NOT disassemble the audio unit to remove the CD. This will void any applicable warranty coverage for this repair. If the customer wishes to have the CD returned, please complete the following form indicating where the customer would like the CD shipped. Include this form with the warranty returned part.
10185621When diagnosing a concern with the SCR system, the technician may notice crystallized DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) on the tip of the DEF injector. Crystallized DEF on the tip of the injector is a normal occurrence and does not indicate that the injector nozzle is clogged. The crystallization will dissolve when the injector is activated. Do not replace the DEF injector for the crystallization alone. Please follow Workshop Manual diagnostics to diagnose the specific condition or DTC on the vehicle.
10185619When disconnecting the DEF injector connector on the vehicle, there is potential that the connector may break due to improperly removing the new style connector.
10185618Some 2013MY-2017MY COE units may illuminate the ABS light and store DTC C1425 after the aftermarket LED tail lamps are installed. In addition, the turn signals may flash quicker than normal and the cruise control will be disabled.
10185616The following information applies to the installation of a customer supplied and commercially available electric trailer brake controller for all 2012MY-2017 MY Hino trucks. This application only applies to brake controllers which operate using a 12-volt input signal from the chassis when the brakes are applied.
10185615The following information applies to the installation of a customer supplied and commercially available electric trailer brake controller for all 2008MY-2015MY Hino trucks. This application only applies to brake controllers which operate using a 12-volt input signal from the chassis when the brakes are applied.
10185582The broken hood grille procedure (SB-14-020) has been revised to reuse the grille nuts (SZ17906009) if possible. There is a limited quantity of the nuts available and it has been confirmed that the nuts are reusable. The revised procedure has been posted on HinoNet. Please see the picture below on which area of the procedure has been updated.
10184959DPF SHIELD BR A CKET CORROSION - Subject vehicles may exhibit a broken DPF shield mounting bracket ddue to corrosion perforation. An enhanced DPF shield bra cket made from stainless steel is now available to prevent this condition from recurring. Cab over Engine trucks 1955, 195h
10184884Cab Over Engine Trucks (155, 155h, 195, or 195h) Enhanced DCU (Dosing Control Unit) software has been released to address as the conditions.
10184881Hino Conventional Trucks (238, 258, 268 or 338) equipped with a snow plow specification stationary grille. Fiberglass repair methods have been made available to address hood cra ck concerns. In the event a subject vehicle experiences cra cking of the hood near the hinges, this rekpair procedure should be used to address this condition. While these repair methods may be effective at repairing ahood that was damaged from impact, impact damage repair is not warrantable. Hoods should be inspected for impact damage prior to performing this procedure.

10184830Conventional Trucks (238, 258, 268 or 338) and COE (Cab over Engine) Trucks (195, 195h) Foreign debris in the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) tank may cause the SCR (Select Calalyst Reduction) System to malfunction. This can result in DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) P20E8 or P20E9 - DEF Pressure abnormality. An inlet strainer for the DEF tank has been made available to prevent foreign material froim entering the DEF tank.
10184829DTC U02A2 DEF sensor communication error. On subject vehicles, the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) may illuminate with DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U02A2 stored in the engine ECU. This may be due to a malfunction of the DEF (Diese Exhaust Fluidf) tank sensor asslembly. Perform the diagnostic prolcedure for DT C U02A2 as outlined by the Workshop Manual (DEF SCR Section for Conventional Vehicles, Engine Troiubleshooting Section for COE Vehicles). If the diagnostic procedure leads to DEF tank sensor replacement, a more robust DEF tank sensor has been made available. Conventional Trucks (238, 258, 268 and 338) and COE (Cab Over Engine) Trucks (195, 195h).
10184827Suspension - A COE if equipped with a severe duty body application may experience excessive body roll or poor handling at highway speeds. This TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) outlines an inspection procedure highlighting approved body installation guidelines and the need for a general suspension inspection. Also included are two repair procedures where the front and rear suspension can be modified to reduce the amount of body roll and stiffen the ride quality. 195, 195h COE Stability upgrade.
10184818New parts are available to prevent repeat exhaust manifold stud failures on the J05 engine. This bulletin provides instructions for installing longer manifold studs at the #4 cylinder location.

10180609May cause the MIL to illuminate due to the following: DEF quality misdetection, internal temp sensor failure, operating voltage misdetection, or failure of the internal power supply circuit capacitor.
10180608In certain conditions, the fuel pressure applied to the FCV (Fuel Cut Valve) during operation exceeds the valve opening force limit, this is because the design of the FCV may not have enough allowance for the pressure and timing of the fuel generated in the valve, causing the valve not to be opened temporarily.
10180607May exhibit an internal oil leak that could negatively impact operation of the Variable Nozzle and cause the MIL (malfunction Indicator Light) to illuminate.
10180604The seal structure of the dosing valve of the DEF Injector may be inadequate. With an inadequate seal, water or DEF may enter inside the coil of dosing valve from the seal, causing the DEF Injector to be inoperative. For vehicles built before the improved part was introduced into production, the DEF injector will be replaced with an improved one.
10163375Oil leak from the input rod: During the machining process of the input rod cylinder, a sharp protrusion was produced. This sharp protrusion scratched the packing seal, resulting in an oil leak. Brake pedal kickback: In some cases, the brake pedal may be depressed beyond the operational limit which will create scars on the end of the plunger inside the booster. The scars cause the oil passage to narrow, resulting in unbalanced pressure. The unbalanced pressure causes a kickback sensation to occur. The kickback sensation does not affect the braking function but could lead to the customer contacting the dealer about a possible brake malfunction.
