I was driving home and was stopped at a red light. I felt a jerk from under the hood then the check engine light came on. My car then began to drive very sluggishly and struggled to pick up speed. I made it home a few blocks away and had it towed to the shop where I was told I needed a new transmission. The codes I received were p1754, p1757, and p1759. I was told there was a recall for the 5 speed only. I would like to add that I have never had a check engine light on or had any problems wih my vehicle until now. I think it should be expanded to the AWD as well.

Takata recall. I own 2005 infinity FX45. They recently had a mass recall, but only in certain states, "high humidity " states. Let's recap. my vehicle has always lived in michigan. My dashboard IS highly damaged by the bad adhesive used in several models covering several year's of infinity /nissan vehicles. which the company claimed again, only occurred in high humidity states. Missouri, florida and texas have class action suits in order to replace the dashboards that surpass the 8 year mark the only covered. Refused to call it a "recall ". Thousands of owners were and are still left unnotified of the replacement, letters never sent out. If my dash looks this bad, and emits these toxic fumes in the heat that burn my eyes, how can this company not be forced to replace my airbags? I'D say they are intertwined. We are disappointed as owners of this high dollar vehicles and the company isn't made accountable by you, the governing board of vehicle safety for the people. I'm in politics, I don't want to get cancer from toxic fumes, or my family or choice of dying from metal in airbags. Both served as protection. going down the road in bright sun, these bubbles as I call them reflect sun off the windshield and cause blindness. I see this connecting soon with an accident, but michigan isn't in the recall?? I'll make sure to leave note early with directions, if there's any survivors. I'm sorry, I'm frustrated with infinity for being allowed to get away with this [xxx]. I thought you forced recalls? Please help in michigan. I hope the pictures go thru, if not call and I will send to an email address. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr

Car: 2005 infiniti FX45 failure: airbag system warning light blinking occurs: constantly, until cleared in the computer. once it's cleared it IS variable as to how long it will be before it starts blinking again, usually 1 - 7 days. done to correct problem: taken to dealer for diagnostics. first diagnosed as a "front crush zone sensor". that was replaced and paid for by me, but didn't fix it. next diagnosed as an airbag diagnostic module. infiniti replaced that under warranty but it didn't fix the problem either. next diagnostic was either the engine management wiring harness or the cabin airbag wiring harness. each job IS approximately $2200.00, infiniti refused to perform the work under warranty, and I refused to pay for one without knowing whether it would fix the problem. infiniti has disregarded the safety of my family and washed their hands of me, told me to come pick up the car, they are no longer willing to work on it. I asked the infiniti service technician if the airbag system would work correctly if the light IS blinking and was told that it would not. *Tr

Excessive heat in the driver foot well. dealership acknowledges it IS 105 degrees in the foot well after only 45 minutes of drive time, but indicates it IS the proximity of the exhaust system that IS creating the heat - and therefore nothing they can do to fix. actual temperature after one plus hour of drive time IS unbearable, and can only be slightly lessened with use of ac (which also seems faulty) on high. therefore, driving this vehicle for more than 45 minutes at a time IS a miserable experience - but one the dealership suggests IS the same as all other fx45's. *jb

- Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE14-016 in June 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers. All six vehicles were operated in Florida or Puerto Rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by Takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.During the course of PE14-016, ODI determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by Takata. No evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.Nonetheless, at ODI's insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation. The regions recalled initially included Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, areas with high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures. As part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to Takata for testing.Takata's initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from Florida.Accordingly ODI requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the Gulf States and other coastal areas.Takata's testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.During PE14-016 four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region. Also during PE14-016 four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically California and North Carolina.Accordingly, ODI requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject Takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.Significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or Takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.Takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing. All test ruptures reported by Takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas. The investigation now includes all manufacturers and vehicles known to be affected at this time.ODI's investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy. The five ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492

INFINITI requests same day or week appointments as much as possible and offer Takata recall services on weekends too if your service department is open. 2.If possible, offer mobile service. - 10152986Subject: Takata Completion Objectives for Q4 INFINITI is continuing to ask its retailers to urgently help increase customer participation in the Takata recalls to help it achieve 100% customer recall participation for the following vehicles: - 2001 I30 - 2002-04 I35 - 2003-08 FX - 2002-03 QX4 - 2006-10 M Sedan INFINITI expects to upload the next refreshed owner list to DBS around the middle of February. At the time of monthly updates, we reassign owner lists based on retailer buy/sells. We anticipate having this automated within DBS by the end of the fiscal year. This is an extremely serious safety issue and INFINITI is taking significant and unprecedented steps to increase client recall participation but it needs retailer help to achieve its remedy goals. A separate communication will be released later this week informing regional personnel of the requirements for bonus payout in Q4. The Q4 objective is based on the average number of repairs in Q3 multiplied by the number of service days in Q4 (Mon-Sat minus any holidays). Retailer engagement is critical with this effort. It is a company-wide responsibility to make it a priority to replace these dangerous airbag inflators in affected vehicles. Further, increasing recall participation represents significant gross profit opportunity for our retailers. Regional personnel can access current completions via the tableau Takata tracker (https://tableau.na.nissan.biz/#/site/SLSMKG/views/TakataCampaignReport/TakataCampaign?:iid=1). Q4 objectives will be updated in the tableau Takata tracker by the end of the week, but current overall completion rates are included above.

- 10152500Retailer Engagement for Takata Awareness INFINITI is committed to the safety and security of its clients and their passengers. As you are likely aware, INFINITI has initiated multiple field actions to execute the Takata Airbag Recall in accordance with the schedule set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). INFINITI has employed a variety of methods to reach affected clients to increase repair completion. However, your help is needed to raise awareness to remedy the approximately one hundred twenty thousand vehicles that remain unrepaired. This is a serious issue and we need everyone?s help to further increase recall awareness. INFINITI is asking all retailers to provide their employees with instructions on how to identify vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recall and encourage them to help draw an affected owner?s attention to this danger. Your employee?s actions could save someone?s life or prevent a significant injury. Supporting Materials To assist with this request, each retailer will receive thirty ?Takata Airbag Recall Alert Cards? by December 5, 2018. Each ?Alert Card? has eight (8) individual tear off cards (written in English and Spanish) that can be distributed to owners to make them aware of how to check their vehicle for an open Takata recall, and of the importance of having the repair performed. To facilitate identification of affected vehicles, your employees can download the free Airbag Recall App from the App Store or Google Play. This app will work for any brand vehicle affected by the Takata recall, and will inform your employees if any of the affected vehicles listed below have an open Takata recall. Affected Vehicles: - INFINITI: - 2001 I30 - 2002-2004 I35 - 2002-2003 QX4 - 2003-2008 FX35/45 - 2006-2010 M35/45 - NISSAN: - 2001-2003 Maxima - 2002-2004 Pathfinder - 2002-2006 Sentra - 2007-2011 Versa Sedan - 2007-2012 Versa Hatchback

- 10149806TRANSMISSION & ENGINE AUTOMATED DATA COLLECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC REPORTING SERVICE INFORMATION To support proper diagnosis and to promote Fixed-Right-First-Time ? Infiniti may review CONSULT-III plus (CIII plus) data relating to vehicle operation and function to help with vehicle diagnosis and diagnostic validation. IMPORTANT: For transmission/engine repair or replacement, retailers are required to connect C-III plus and perform ?Diagnosis (All Systems)?. Performing C-III plus ?Diagnosis (All Systems)? is also required prior to contacting any Infiniti call center (i.e. TECH-LINE, PCC, or WCC) for diagnostic support or claim preauthorization. NOTE: For additional information regarding Automated Vehicle Data Collection, refer to IWBI/18-019. To support Automated Vehicle Data Collection, your C-III plus must have the Diagnosis result reporting function-Setting turned ON. If Diagnosis result reporting function-Setting is OFF: - It may cause dealer consideration for Audit or the Anomalous Repair Control (ARC) program, where applicable. - It may result in a repair being non-warrantable. Refer to the Service Procedure on the next page to confirm your C-III plus ?Diagnosis result reporting function-Setting? is turned ON.
- 10149803Infiniti USA Electronic Field Communication Subject: Takata Completion Objectives for Q3 INFINITI is continuing to ask its retailers to urgently help increase customer participation in the Takata recalls to help it achieve 100% customer recall participation for the following vehicles: ? 2001 I30 ? 2002-04 I35 ? 2003-08 FX ? 2002-03 QX4 ? 2006-10 M Sedan INFINITI expects to upload the next refreshed owner list to DBS within the next week. We will also be reassigning VINs to retailers based on information changes. We didn?t reassign any VINs in Q2 to avoid any mid-quarter objective impact. If VINs were repaired out of network, the retailer/region with the original assignment received credit for the repair. This is an extremely serious safety issue and INFINITI is taking significant and unprecedented steps to increase client recall participation but it needs retailer help to achieve its remedy goals. A separate communication will be released later this month informing regional personnel of the requirements for bonus payout in Q3 and Q2 results. The Q3 objective is based on the average number of repairs in Q2 multiplied by the number of service days in Q3 (Mon-Sat minus any holidays). Retailer engagement is critical with this effort. It is a company-wide responsibility to make it a priority to replace these dangerous airbag inflators in affected vehicles. Further, increasing recall participation represents significant gross profit opportunity for our retailers.
- 10149802Infiniti USA Electronic Field Communication Subject: Retailed Vehicle Open Campaign Report Lists Updated The lists for each retailer?s Retailed Vehicle Open Campaign Report has been updated today in DBS. We made our best effort to reassign vehicles to retailers based on the most recent owner information we received. The complexity of filtering out brokers (banks, salvage yards, and insurance companies) and reassigning VINs based on updated owner information affected over 123K records between INFINITI and Nissan, so we are unable to summarize the changes at a regional or retailer level. We suggest the retailers download their lists and have their outbound call centers compare information if necessary. If you have questions, please let us know. Additionally, we will have some enhancements coming in DBS effective November 17, 2018: Owner Data Updates (NNA side): 1. VIN, Campaign Code, and Source are the unique fields 2. Compare all fields except Remove Flag and Comments to see if there is a difference. a. If there is same VIN, Camp ID, and Source and all other fields are also the same then the record will be updated without changing Remove Flag and Comment field b. If there is same VIN, Camp ID, and Source and any other field is different, then the record will be inserted, in this case Remove Flag and Comment field will be blank as this is new record. The remove flag is being removed so the retailer will understand the information they previously flagged for removal has been updated and should be tried again before reapplying the removal flag. c. The retailer benefit of A & B above is duplicate records for the same VIN, Camp ID, and information source with the same customer contact information will no longer display in DBS on the Retailed Vehicle Open Campaign Report.
