Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. the front suspension lower ball joints were not tightened to specifications when they were attached to the lower control arms.
If the ball joint attaching nuts are not adequately tightened, they can loosen and ultimately, result in fracture of the ball joint stud. if the ball joint fractures, control of the vehicle could be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the torque on the two ball joint attaching nuts. vehicles with loose ball joint attaching nuts will either have the fasteners tightened to specification, or if necessary, the ball joints will be replaced.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with trw seat belt buckle assemblies. the buckle base of these seat belt assemblies were not properly heat treated and therefore do not pass the load bearing requirement of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 209, "seat belt assemblies."
In the event of a vehicle crash, the occupant may not be properly restrained.
Dealers will inspect and change, if necessary, the seat belt buckles.
The Whole upper control arm came off due to the recall on the right upper suspension in the front...I reported this when it happened may 2022 and no response or help from the jaguar company by that time I could not afford to get it out of impound because I was in the parking lot of the government post office right by the Evansville police station
I was backing out of the Post office downtown Evansville Indiana on E sycamore street when I heard a thud and my right front tire was leaning in and front bumper on ground the ball joint broke causing my upper control arm to snap. The cops impounded it it's at Tristate towing in Evansville Indiana

The car just crossed the 100,000 mile mark and I put gas in, car was on empty and turned off, and after about seven gallons of gas, gas started coming out from under the car. I read about the same problem ( safety recall # 06v418000) in the 2005 jaguar s type, that seems to be exactly what this 2000 s type IS doing. Dealer says that there IS no recall matching my v.i.n. , I feel like its a safety issue and should have been recalled.

This IS crazy I see all these complaints through the years about the 2000 s type jag all have the same problems.. Why hasn't there been a recall I just recently experienced the same thing where I had to have my car towed when I first noticed it was right after I bought the car in 2012.now it's been almost going to 3 years and I'm having a this problem was not being able to shift into drive in a park position or even switch from reverse when I'm parked on the incline this IS ridiculous, I can't even drive my car. Now with all the complaints that I've been reading about the jaguar s-type it makes me feel like jaguars not concerned about their safety issues while building such a prestigious and very expensive automobile there may concern was getting it out in the showroom to sell for thousands of dollars not including the expensive repairs that it takes to maintain a jaguar.it seems to me the jaguar dealerships be willing to stand behind their product as well as accommodate the safety issues that are clearly a defect on the many factors part because you wouldn't have that many people complaining on a forum about the same issue the same complaint.i do realize that my jaguar IS now 15 years old but it still has a whole lot of life in it I have a beautiful jaguar. and I love it I love everything about it but this problem with the gear box shift truly need to be looked into please don't wait for a disaster to happen in these cars if the recall will require them spending millions IS so be it because we as a consumer have worked hard in order to get the car of their dreams and that's the case for some people.you would think that to be dealers of a jaguar with stand for some type of integrity and responsibility and be the first to recognize the problem. *tr
This car IS dangerous almost got me killed,i get on the freeway get to 55 mph,the car shuts off numerous times, don't drive highway,,i,another times just lock into safetyfailmode numerous times,i was stuck and had car towed, leaks water when it rains to battery I'm always replacing one due to battery drains quickly, throttle body IS always clogged,my airbag light flashes always on dash, seatbelts don't tighten on hard stop,it shakes when stopping at light, engine gets hot fan don't shut on,trunk button pops open when it wants, fuel pump disentangle, a/c buttons don't work when it gets cold hard to push down, sunroof get stuck, steering wheel doesn't adjust right, head rest doesn't support your head at all, discomfort, electronic problems, key gets stuck,t ignition system, this car has cool fire problems it IS not safe I could have gotten killed in it more than once. *tr
I was pulling into a stall at the treasure coast mall when we heard a loud thud when I got out to see what it was I seem that the tire was leaning in and pushed under the fender.i then had to call a tow truck and found out later that the left front ball joint completely snapped off and the right side was badly worn and loose and also had to be replaced. I just hate to think what would happen if that would have happend on the highway me and my wife were very shaken up. The car only has 47000 + which seems really strange for this to happen. *tr

I parked the car on a hill last week and couldnt get the car out of park. I had to have some buddies rock the car to get it out of park into reverse. the vehicle hasnt rode the same since. it doesnt go into drive as smoothly and the car also revs at higher rpms than average before switching into the next gear. *tr
Parked on a slight incline at the bobops in estill, sc and the car would not come out of park, after a few tries, the gear floated and the shifter obviously had broken. this repair IS going to run me 2200 dollars, jaguar should cover the total cost of this as well as should have issued a recall for this problem years ago. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 jaguar s-type. The side air bag on the drivers side suddenly deployed while driving 35 mph. No one was injured and the contact was able to drive to her residence. The manufacturer was called and informed her to take the vehicle to the dealer so that they could perform a diagnostic test in order to view the error code and determine why the air bag deployed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the vehicle bottomed out which caused the air bag to deploy. The vehicle was not repaired by the dealer. She will notify the insurance company regarding the repairs. The dealer and the manufacturer will not repair the failure. The failure and current mileages were 53,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 jaguar s-type. whenever the contact parks on an incline, the gear becomes stuck in the park position. in order to move the vehicle, it must be pushed and rocked back and forth until it pops out of gear. occasionally, the vehicle can shift into reverse, which can be dangerous for those pushing the vehicle in the rear. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and they stated that this was a very common issue with the 2000 s-types; however, there was no recall or remedy. through research, the contact found numerous complaints related to this failure and believes that a recall should be issued. the failure mileage was 24,000 and current mileage was 65,000. updated 8/18/09 *cn updated 0821/09.
I have a 2000 jaguar s-type that was recalled for front control arm and lower ball joints back in november of 2000. However when I took it to the jaguar dealer to get replaced because mine IS defective the dealer told me my vin# was not included in the recall. IS there a specific reasoning behind having certain vin#'s recalled and not others? I would really appreciate if my vin can also be included because per the dealer my car IS in serious jeopardy of malfunctioning while I'm driving which could end in an accident that can cause bodily harm up to and including death. can you please respond to my email regarding this issue. *Tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 jaguar s-type. the contact stated that the front control arm and lower ball joint were destroyed. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle began making a noise and a light illuminated on the instrument panel, which indicated that the engine lost power. the vehicle shut off and was restarted. a mechanic stated that a lower ball joint failed and damaged the control arm. the vehicle IS currently at the contact's residence. the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign ID number 00v359002 (suspension:front:control arm:lower ball joint), although the failures were identical. the vehicle will have to be repaired at the contact's expense. the failure and current mileages were 79,000. updated 07/14/09 *bf updated 07/16/09.*jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 jaguar s-type. the contact stated that the timing chain failed on the driver's side of his vehicle while driving 60 mph. he could not maintain control of the vehicle and attempted to pull over to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the head needed to be removed. in addition, a couple of bent valves needed replacing at the cost of $4,000. the contact stated that he will call the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 88,000.
I purchased a jaguar s-type from chase auto group,inc.. I paid 13,000 in cash and the 3,000 by check.. The dealer sold me a lemon car because he hyped the car and told me that nothing was wrong with the car and low and behold their where electrical problems with the car. The car dash board lights did not work and the radio's light stayed on all the time, and it drained the battery the cd player did not work because their was not a cd player in the car and when I returned the car to be fixed he told me that he would add the cd player and fix the car and all of the necessary things that needed to be done to the car. I went back to check on my car, because he had not called me and he had sold my car to somebody else. I told him that I wanted my money back and he refused to reimburse me for my money and told me that he could give me two cars to make up for my lost. I want all of my money back that this company owes me. *Tr
When parked on a hill I am not able to get the car into or out of park and reverse I have to literally have someone push or rock the car to get it out of gear, bergen jaguar in bergen new jersey said this IS a common quirk with the 2000 s type jaguars with automatic transmissions. *Tr
I financed a jaguar in february 2008 and have had a problem from almost the beginning with the gearshift, getting out of park while on the slightest incline I've had to get out and rock the car just to get it into reverse and this IS all the time. more recently I reversed out of my driveway without any problems but, when I tried to put it in drive it would not move forward, backward, or anywhere. I had it towed to the closest jaguar dealer who initially told me it may just be the gearshift cable needing to be adjusted a $150 job I said ok that sounds pretty good being a foreign car and all. I got a call back and he said it was the rear drive shafters needing to be replaced ok good not the transmission needing to be replaced........how much? I asked, about $3200....for about $2000 more I can get a whole new transmission, right? This IS ridiculous and I think the jaguar manufacturer should look into this problem or atleast do a recall I mean how many complaints does it take..it should only take one to check it out this IS not something that just happened it's has been ongoing since 2000 (i've done alot of research before writing this complaint) 8 years later and the problem IS still here...i really wish jaguar would own up and try to accommodate everyone's problems as best as they could..[xxx] *tr
