Recall alert: jaguar xffacebooktwitter posted: december 9, 2008 jaguar IS recalling about 3,800 2009 xf sedans due to an electrical defect that could result in a number of problems. in a defect notice filed with the national highway traffic safety administration, jaguar explains, "the instrument cluster speaker wires may fracture as a consequence of an overly aggressive tick-tock sound wave form, the volume of which IS vehicle speed dependent." the xf makes the tick-tock sound when its turn signal IS engaged - and at high speed, the sound may be loud enough to crack the rubber coating on speaker wires. "in the event of a speaker failure, the following audible notifications will cease to function - directional indicators, seat belt warning, 'lights on' warning, driver's door open with the key in the ignition, driver intervention (adaptive cruise control equipped vehicles) and seat memory." dealers will make a simple software adjustment, free of charge, to fix the problem. owners should receive a letter in the mail explaining the recall this week. this IS the second time the xf has been recalled since it came on the market just a few months ago. the earlier recall, involving a seatbelt defect, was a far more serious safety risk - but the fact that the vehicle has been recalled twice in such a short time might concern some buyers. the xf IS a mechanically complex car with many features not found in other vehicles, from a shift knob that sits inside the console when the car IS off and raises into the driver's hand after the vehicle IS started, to a touch-sensitive glovebox lock. jaguar has historically faced quality control problems. the xf IS a sharp-looking car with a powerful engine that has won praise from many reviewers, but quality problems with this car could defeat jaguar's efforts to reform its image.

I believe jaguar should recall the fuel rail because the aluminum fuel rails corrode from the inside out from using certain ethanol fuels with low water content, which cause a pinhole that sprayed raw gasoline onto a hot engine which cause a fire. Those aluminum fuel rails were need to be replaced with stainless steel rails. my car was almost caught on fire due to a pinhole fuel leak which developed. and this occurred while stationary and moving the smell was so strong I had to drive with the windows down. and to make matters worst the fuel rail IS no longer available through jaguar the part IS obsolete so how can we have are car repaired if jaguar doesn't even carry the part ???

2009 jaguar xf supercharged dashboard glare & visibility obstruction the leather dashboard on my 2009 jaguar xf supercharged has begun to separate, ripple, & bubble. Resulting in a serious safety issue as the rippling (looks similar to waves) causes the sun to reflect / glare directly to the windshield & into the operators eyes. The result, under certain circumstance (high noon, very sunny days, dusk/dawn), IS complete vision impairment. The problem stems from a defective glue / bonding agent applied during the manufacturing process. Once separation begins it progresses and spreads like cancer. The unacceptable repair estimate provided by jaguar, $3,500.00 to $4,500.00, to replace the entire dash. Unnecessary as the defect IS the bonding agent, not the hardware. Jaguar & official oem forums suggest a... "Cost effective alternative." the remedy via third parties: remove the dashboard, separate the leather, clean, apply a new bonding agent, cure, and reinstall. Because the dashboard IS no longer flat, on sunny days & especially at dusk and dawn, the large bubbles & waves cause light to reflect directly to the windshield & the operators eyes. The resulting reflection / glare renders the vehicle completely unsafe to operate during the previously mentioned conditions. Safety IS important & jaguar should address this issue via recall & not leave the costly remedy for this known defect to the consumer & potentially unqualified third party repair facilities. This known problem effects a majority of 2009-2011 xf models. Jaguar acknowledge the issue as early 2009. Yet continued to use a manufacturing process known to be defective. The known defect can cause temporary blindness while operating the vehicle. The consequences of driving while blind are obvious. Jaguar, should be required to remedy the defect.

Transmission control shift module - there was a recall notice K063 dated 9/19/11 from jaguar about trasmission control switch (tcs) replacement for the 2009 xfs. Apparently, the earlier K048 recall for the circuit board fix didn't quite cure all the problems. My transmission control shift module got stuck wouldn't go into drive or reverse; it was stationary. I had it towed to the jaguar dealer, they stated that the recall was for certain jaguars particular to vin#'s. I advised them that my car IS doing the same thing as recall manufacturer# K063. They stated it was not pertaining to my car, so they are charging me $1,200 to fix instead of apply the recall. I believe there has to be a mistake and my car should of been included on the recall list. I need someone to look more thoroughly into this issue as I am getting resistance from the manufacturer, and dealership.

Nhtsa & airbagrecall.com say my vin IS not included. creditkarma.com (insurance by vehicle evaluation score) and "chapter 11 legal notice" re: takata airbags say I'm included. who IS correct in this serious and consequential recall?
- Air bags
The leather dash has separated from the back causing ridges in the leather up to 3/4" high. in the event of a crash this will prevent proper deployment of the airbag. the leather needs to be firmly attached and stretched tight for the stitching to rip correctly. if the leather IS loose and ridged, the stitching will only partially rip and may prevent full airbag deployment into the cabin.

The electrical issue in this car IS completely unbearable, it consistently drains the battery until it IS dead and cannot take a jump start. I was told by a gentleman that there was a recall in regards to this matter. The fuel system IS also a major complication. The fuel comes through the vents of the vehicle and it IS so potent that I have gotten sick on a few occasions while operating the vehicle. The vehicle can be stationary and in motion while these mishaps are occurring. It IS really sad and disappointing to sell cars this expensive and experience so many complications. My vehicle IS in the repair shop at this very moment.

Takata recall. this complaint relates to how long it IS taking for my dealer to replace my recalled passenger airbag. I was issued the recall notice from jaguar in july of 2016, but 8 months later they still say they dont have parts to correct the safety issue. I feel this IS needlessly long and putting my safety at risk.
