ABS system IS defective, and I need it to be replaced. It appears my car gad a recall. But other owners never felt the need to have fixed? Either way I need car fixed for my own well-being. The car has some electrical issues to, I don't know if their are recalls for that issue to? I need to get car smog certificate, but now I am stuck with a car idled by this ABS issue. No accident, got report from auto zone. It showed me exactly the cars, condition. Because lights in dashboard stay on. I'm sure many, other jeep drivers. Have the same, issue with the ABS module. IS defection, from manufacturer. So again this car never had the recall work on it. So I inherited, a pre-existing, condition lemon. No accident of incident.
This vehicle and others of this same year struggle with intermittent stalling when slowing down or stopping at about 100,000 miles. When this happens, the power steering no longer works and the vehicle will not restart, until placed in neutral and restarted.
When driving at various speeds, the engine shuts completely off, causing loss of power steering and brakes. Jeep dealer said no recalls for this problem. Very dangerous condition, I have been almost involved in several accidents because of this. There are other people on the computer who have this same problem.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH, the engine revved, and the vehicle began to lose motive power. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact stated that he shifted from drive (D) to park (P) and from park to neutral (N) and then drive (D) several times until the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to two transmission specialists, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the transmission specialist, where it was diagnosed that the transfer case was unintendedly shifting into neutral(N), and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V175000 (Power Train, Electrical System). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
Vehicle periodically loses signal from right rear pressure monitor, displaying — in place of thenpressure reading. EVIC displays “Service Tire Pressure Monitoring System”, TPMS indicator light blinks. Took vehicle for service, they replaced the TPMS sensors. Issue reoccurred. Returned to servicing dealer, right rear TPMS sensor again. Issue reoccurred. Servicing dealer indicates that part number 5026189AH likely needs replacing but part shows out of stock. Contacted Jeep Customer Care and they confirmed part has been discontinued and no replacement part is available. TPMS system no longer works reliably.
Tthe 4.7 engine suddenly quits while driving, both at high and low speeds.. I have had to pull into breakdown lanes if any, with no powers steering, and at great risk coasting across lanes to safety. The jeep dealer in my area said therenare no recalls, although many people have had the same experience with the engine quitting. This IS an extremely dangerous defect, especially if you cant get over to a safe spot.
Original owner of this vehicle. Has 73,000 on 5.7 hemi engine. Engine blew up on 12/25/2022. Only warning was the gauge went to overheat high red. Stopped vehicle, at fuel station and added more anti freeze. Gauge dropped to while normal range. Got back on highway drove 7 miles and enginle like came on and heat gauge went to high red then dropped to nothing. Got vehilcle off the road and it immediately shut down. Engine blew up. Had vehilcle towed to Jeep Dealership 12/26/2022. Need engine replaced at only 73, 000 miles. Chrysler no longer makes this engine and a rebuilt will have to go into this vehicle. No offer or explanation of why this engine blew up with such low mileage. I was left stranded in 5 degree weather for about 45 minutes along interstate trying to get my roadside assistance to help. They couldn't speak understandable english. After 40 minutes of this call I ended up calling State Police for help. I knew I was starting to go into hypothermia. State Police arrived in minutes and put me in their car to warm me up and they called tow co. That co. showed up in 15 minutes. I called Chrysler myself to try to find a new engine but they discontinued this engine in July 2022, early cut off for an engine. No new engines in inventory. No offer of any kind to assist or ask questions about possible injury/causes/or where the vehicle was. No engine should blow with this low mileage. Why did they cut off mfg of this engine so early? No answers. Vehicle is at Hillview Motors, Greensburg, PA 15601(Jeep Dealership) for repair. Jeep Dealership inspected engine and determined it was blown. Only warning was guage went hot then engine blew. Nothing in the past on this vehicle.
I Have a similar if not the same complaint as the one on file here form Liverpool, Tx on 12/14/21 - I also have a 2007 Jeep Commander and am having issues with the ignition and contact to start the vehicle. The key at time gets stuck in the ignition, is difficult to turn the ignition and rarely turns on on first turn... It has a failure of contact... and usually requires various attempts to actually ignite and turn engine on. When researching on social media this is a large complaint from owner of vehicles of same make year and model Please advise
Unknown. While my vehicle is set on cruise control and the weather is over 50 degrees or the air is running my cruise control will shut off. Warning lights abs, esp bas, & stability control will come on, then my cruise control won’t work anymore. Now just this morning going up a hill my car wouldn’t go pass 20 mph while my foot was to the floor basically. Then almost to the top of the hill it took off. The rmps went high Jeep shifted to next gear. Of course took my foot off petal and pushed brakes slightly. As slowing down it started shifting hard with high rmps still. I have done a new tune up and new transmission within the last 6 months. Before the new transmutation it was still doing this. The reason to replace the transmission was my Jeep just stopped completely moving. I don’t have the money to keep taking my Jeep back to the dealership for them to keep telling me they don’t know the problem. If nothing gets done about this sadly I will have to get rid of it. The cruise accrues when I’m on the highway going 60 to 65 mps. The shifting problem happen in town. Which both issues could cause a serious car wreck and harm to others and my self.
Was driving cars engine started shaking was stalling losing power in the middel of the road engine light came on we barely male the car home it was stalling out happend only less than 5 miles from home put code reader on vehicle had 5 codes one was Power train and other spark plug ect going out dealer ship they had it towed the tow truck driver couldn't get the 2 front tires to move took him 2 hrs finally he told me he had to remove my drive shaft to tow it the dealer ship cleared the codes told me nothing is wrong with the vehicle and I have to come get it and drive it home 1 hr 30 min from there I am not willing to do that it's unsafe also they sold it to me with broken seat belts and a water leak that flood in entire front of the car so now my car is sitting there and I have no help on this.they refuse to fix anything except the seat belts and won't tow it back to me.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that there was a failure experienced with the ignition when attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was confirmed to have an ignition-related failure. No further information was available. The failure mileage was 340,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that occasionally while driving 35 – 65 MPH, the vehicle would shake and hesitate. The vehicle also lost power steering and braking functionality and stalled with an audible tone. There were no warning lights illuminated. On another occasion the vehicle lost motive power and was struck by the vehicle in the rear. There was no physical damage to the vehicle and there was no injury sustained. The police were not notified and both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene. On another occasion the vehicle stalled and was towed to the residence; then towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed however, the contact was unaware of the results or if the vehicle was repaired. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
It randomly loses all power and it seems to shift erratically at this time as well. The check engine light dings once then disappears with out storing a any codes to diagnose. It only does it while I'm driving and if it happens while braking it loses the ability to brake. Very dangerous car, bought from dealership, told it had no problems due to not having any check engine lights and didn't do it on the test drive. AS IS WARRANTY.
2007 jeep commander. Consumer writes in regards to broken and rusted seat belts in vehicle. the consumer stated the dealer agreed to replace the seat belts in the vehicle, but has not made contact to schedule an appointment. The consumer stated the roof leaked causing the vehicle to flood and damaging the windows and speakers.
Heat shield on the muffler system. I was towing a boat up north and started to smell a burning smell. At first I thought it was an electrical issue, but couldn't identify anything. So I drove another 3 to 4 miles and the back floor boards was smoking filling the car with smoke. I pulled over and the carpet was melting from the heat of the muffler/exhaust under the back seat. When it was inspected the heat shield was not over the area that almost caught fire. This is an issue that Jeep is more than aware of and it's an issue that only happens when these vehicles are towing. They run extremely hot towing and the heat shield is defective. Their are other's that have had this happen and there's no recall! My car is equipped with tow package too and it was turned on before it's even a question. I got a call about a year ago about a family friend was towing a pop up camper and their commander caught on fire and was a total loss! Thank God no one was injured. There needs to be an investigation with people who have commander's.
My car will act like it's out of gas/convulsions, dies suddenly, and acts like it's going to die when driving. Check engine light has come on sometimes. I have only had the vehicle around one year and have had it worked on 4 times for the issue. Still isn't fully resolved. It's was the obvious issue from the start so probably an issue before I bought the vehicle. I was referred to the dealership and they quoted me 600 just for the inspection. I just paid 3000 dollars to have it fixed. Still not fixes.
I have a jeep commander 2007 limited. According to your recall dates my VIN number doesn’t fall within those dates for my car to have the recall. Although my jeep is completely stallling out while driving 69 mph, I mean loss of all electrical inside my jeep. Power steering fails, engine shuts off, I am lucky enough that my brakes still work but who is to say that won’t happen again. So when looking my VIN number up seeing that this is ONE of the recalls, my VIN number ISNT part of the vehicles that was affected by the recall but I’m still encountering the SAME issue as the recall. I’ve taken it to my mechanic he cannot seem to find the problem. I need help I just bought this car! It’s our family car so it’s not only affecting me it’s my entire family. My husband, my two year older and my elderly parents.
Intermittent starting issue. This IS my only vehicle, I have 2 kids with special needs and need to get to important appointments. I start my 2007 jeep commander, I get to where I am going, when I go to restart my vehicle it sometimes doesn't want to start. It will crank over just refuses to start. I have had multiple mechanics look at my jeep and no one can figure out reasoning to this intermittent starting issue. I have put so much money and work into my jeep for it to keep doing the same problem. The last mechanic I took it too seen code error in the display window on dash 'transmission over temp' when he had tried to start it. It does not do this every time the will be days it continuously starts every time then there are days that it's intermittent, and days it will not start at all. The mechanic starting lookin on jeep forums about this issue there are tons of reports of the same issue but no solution. My mechanic said jeep IS aware of the issue but there IS no recalls on this issue. He said he believes it IS a programming issue the car thinks the transmission IS over temp so it sends signal to the engine that it's too hot and the engine sends signal to the fuel pump that there IS a temperature issue do not turn on. When it cranks over it acts as if it isn't getting any fuel at all. I have purchased a new fuel pump and some other parts the issue IS happening. I bought the jeep in april of 2020 off of another owner, the issue didn't start with me until january of 2021, the previous owner mentioned anything about this happening to them when I asked them. Can something please be done about this issue so myself and thousands of other 2007 jeep commander owners can get back to enjoying our vehicles???? thank you for taking your time and reading this complaint.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to premier chrysler jeep dodge RAM fiat (13000 I-10 service rd, new orleans, la 70128) to be repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). Upon return of the vehicle, the contact stated that the ignition switch cover failed to fit the ignition switch. Due to the failure, the key needed to be forced into the ignition switch to start the vehicle. Recently, the contact stated that she was unable to turn off the vehicle due to the newer ignition switch that was placed in the vehicle. The contact was forced to remove the switch cover and hold the key upon turning the vehicle on and off. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
While driving my jeep would just shut off. I would have to restart it and it would shut off again, sometimes at high speeds.
I was driving home from work and my ignition switch turned off by itself this IS the third time it's done this. twice ive almost gotten crashed from behind
I have had a problem with transmission over temp car will not start have to let sit for 20 to 30 mins
While at stop light or in traffic vehicle will turn off, dashboard will light up after and vehicle will chime. This happened multiple times, this morning it happened 3 times within 15 minutes.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. The contact stated that while his son was driving approximately 70 mph, the passenger's side side-curtain air bag inadvertently deployed without the vehicle being involved in a crash. After the failure, several electronic gauges inside the vehicle ceased to operate. The cause of the failures were not determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer north side jeep located at 812 northside dr, summersville, wv 26651, were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. The contact stated that while driving down the road, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously taken to butler chrysler dodge jeep dealer, 188 robert smalls pkwy, beaufort, sc 29906, due to the check engine warning light being illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure because the check engine warning light was not illuminated. The key was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Chrysler is conducting a safety recall of approximately 643,618 model year 2006-2007 Jeep Commander and model year 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles to address the problem of ignition turning off while driving (see NHTSA recall 14V-438 for more information).According to Chrysler, these vehicles may experience an unintended change in ignition switch position while driving, which may result in loss of engine power, power steering, and braking assist, increasing the risk of a crash and disabling one or more of the vehicle's safety features including the frontal air bags. Most of the reported incidents occurred as a result of driver interaction with the ignition key.Based on the recall action taken by Chrysler, this Preliminary Evaluation is closed.Additionalinformation on this closing resume, and the investigation are in the PE14-017 public file available online at SaferCar.gov.The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers: 10101116 10103300 10106060 10112589 10116788 10126986 10128093 10130780 10145501 10146213 10153018 10155291 10156396 10158165 10162933 10166746 10178559 10183305 10186545 10189530 10192237 10193106 10194092 10199552 10199986 10221500 10222283 10227253 10231011 10328609 10358324 10392364 10577532 10585326 10585976 10599142 10604990 10605091 10605209 10606494 10606610 10607043 10607614 10607785 10608196 10615565 10615671 10615761 10616124 10633266 10633313 10633724 10639371 10640010 10644827 10652526 10653000 10653382 10654009 10654139 10654809 10655095 10659448 10662220 10662703
On November 18, 2010, NHTSA's Recall Management Division (RMD) opened an audit query (AQ10-001) to investigate recall remedy completion by rental car companies on safety recall campaigns. It was expected to provide the agency an indication of how completely and how quickly rental car fleets perform necessary recall-related remedies on the vehicles owned and then rented/leased for use on the roadways.RMD queried three (3) major motor vehicle manufacturers (Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors) and requested data regarding completion figures for fifteen (15) discreet safety recalls.Analysis of this data demonstrated that rental car recalls completion was neither complete nor consistent. The rental car companies representing the largest market share in the industry were then queried as to their respective policies for the rental, lease, and sale of vehicles with open recalls. The data and responses from the manufacturers and the rental car companies can be found in the document repository by accessing the ?Associated Documents link above. In December 2015, Congress enacted the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.One section of the Act prohibits rental car companies from renting, leasing, or selling motor vehicles subject to open safety recalls. With the passage of the FAST Act and its prohibition, there is no continuing need for the agency to investigate rental car recall completions.Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The agency reserves the right to open any future investigations, including audits of individual recalls, or groups of recalls, or rental car companies, to examine more closely safety recalls performance and completion issues in this area.
On may 5, 2008, chrysler llc (chrysler) submitted a defect information report to nhtsa concerning an engine calibration issue that could result in engine stall in approximately 24,461 model year (my) 2006 jeep commander vehicles equipped with the 4.7L V-8 engine and built from february 25, 2005 through january 11, 2006.according to chrysler, the powertrain control module (pcm) was programmed with software that may allow the engine to stall during certain operating conditions.chrysler dealers will reprogram the pcm software in the recalled vehicles. Information provided by chrysler during pe07-009 and ea07-007 indicated that a revised engine calibration was implemented in production effective january 12, 2006 for the my 2006 jeep commander vehicles equipped with 4.7L V-8 engines.odi's analysis ofconsumer complaints, field reports and other data related to field experience with engine stalling in my 2006 through 2007 jeep commander vehicles equipped with 3.7L, 4.7L and 5.7L engines identified an elevated rate of stalling incidents in the my 2006 vehicles equipped with 4.7L engines that were manufactured before the calibration change.odi interviewed over 70 consumers who reported stalling incidents in early production my 2006 4.7L vehicles.information gathered from those interviews indicated that the stalling incidents were occurring at various speeds, often occurred during turns and typically occurred more than once.the interviews did not identify any concerns with restartability. Although the early my 2006 production vehicles with 4.7L engines make up only about 15 percent of all my 2006 through 2007 jeep commanders built by chrysler, they were responsible for 465 of the 854 reported stalling incidents (54%), 6 of the 12 crash incidents (50%) and the only injury claim.the stalling rate for the recalled vehicles IS 1.90 percent, almost 7 times greater than the rate in the remaining population (0.28 percent).chrysler's recall covers the vehicles with the elevated stalling rate.the remaining vehicles have relatively low rates of stalling and do not exhibit any signs of aggravating factors such as problems with restart. Odi also analyzed complaints alleging concerns with loss of lighting coincident to stalling incidents.this analysis identified seven stalling incidents where loss of exterior lighting was alleged.no specific cause was identified in these incidents and there was no discernible pattern regarding engine, vehicle production options, build range or failure trend. This investigation IS closed with chrysler's recall.
Odi has received 76 vehicle owner complaints alleging incidents of engine stall while driving in model year (my) 2006 through 2007 jeep commander vehicles (subject vehicles).some of the complaints reported one or more incidents of engine stall with a simultaneous loss of some or all lighting systems, including headlamps.two engine stalls resulted in a vehicle crash.in its response to a request for information, daimlerchrysler corporation (dcc) indicated that it has not determined the cause of engine stalling in the subject vehicles and that it hasformed a multi-disciplinary task force to investigate the issue. This investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea07-007) to further assess the frequency, scope and potential safety consequences of the alleged defect.
