5 recalls name the 2004 Lexus RX330. Newest first.
Toyota IS recalling certain model year 2004 avalon vehicles; 2004 and 2005 camry, camry solara, highlander, and sienna vehicles, 2006 highlander hybrid; 2004 and 2005 lexus es330 and rx330; and 2006 lexus rx400h vehicles manufactured from june 1, 2004 through march 31, 2005, equipped with the 1mz-fe or 3mz-fe engine. the amount of adhesive agent applied…
In some cases, the belt for the power steering pump may become detached from the pulley which could result in a loss of power steering and a sudden increase in steering effort, increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will check the crankshaft pulley to identify whether it was produced by the u.s. Supplier. if so, the dealer will replace the pulley with a new one at no charge. the safety recall IS expected to begin during early january 2012. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
Toyota IS recalling certain model year 2004-2006 highlander, highlander hybrid, and model year 2004-2007 lexus rx330, rx350, and rx400h vehicles. if the forward retention clip used to secure the floor carpet cover, which IS located in front of the center console, IS not installed properly the cover may lean toward the accelerator pedal and interfere with…
If this occurs, the accelerator pedal may temporarily become stuck in a partially depressed position rather than return to the idle position. a stuck accelerator pedal may result in unintended and sustained vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Dealers will replace the floor carpet cover with a newly designed one free or charge. the safety recall IS expected to begin during march 2011. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
On certain sport utility and hybrid vehicles, the two retaining clips for the driver's side forward center console can become loose. if both clips separate from the floor carpet cover, the cover may lean toward the accelerator pedal, causing interference with the accelerator pedal rod.
This condition may interfere with the accelerator pedal returning to the idle position increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the two floor carpet cover retaining clips free of charge. the recall began on july 24, 2006, and should be completed by early september 2006. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331 or lexus at 1-800-255-3987.
Certain sport utility vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages." the anchor bolt for the rear, left-hand side seat belt buckle directly behind the driver's seat does not have sufficient strength.
The rear seat occupant may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash.
Dealers will replace free of charge the rear, left-hand side seat belt buckle anchor bolt with an improved one. the recall began on february 3, 2006. owners may contact lexus at 800-255-3987.
Certain passenger vehicles may be equipped with an improperly designed brake light switch. a silicon oxide build-up occurs on the contacts inside the brake light switch, which can make it inoperable.
If the switch IS inoperable, the brake lights will not illuminate and can increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the brake light switch. the recall began during december 2004. owners should contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
TL* the contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that while inspecting the interior of the vehicle, he noticed that the dashboard on the driver's and passenger's side air bag enclosure area was cracked. Pohanka lexus (13909 lee jackson memorial highway, chantilly, va 20151, (703) 968-9100) was informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.
Have had to replace radiator 3 times & will need a 4TH at this time, since 2015, was bought used in 2014. !St replacement 2015 2ND) 2016, 3RD) 2017, and now needs again. Many websites state many different problems related to my vehicle, as well as others of a new year ie; 2005, 2006. Lexus claims vin IS the only source to verify if needs fixing stated to me, yet a websource clublexus.com/forum shows a statement by lexus stating the issue IS not by vin alone but by make model & year. A local radiator shop in western stated to me via phone that lexus dealership service for a while in past had ordered many, many radiators because as it was stated some kind of electrical issue was causing the antifreeze to become acidic and destroying radiator from within. This IS another not well known issue with this model that seems to have not been made public that I can find. My radiator mechanic that replaced mine 2 of the 3 times stated that the radiator was leaking could not find any other issues in 2015, & 2017. This implies that the issue stated from previous stated website isn't even the issue that I'm experiencing. My closest lexus dealership IS aware of the acidic problem based on statement given to me by the local radiator ship rep that I talked to.

The dashboard IS cracking up bad and when I'm driving I be herring poping sound coming from the dashboard and when the heat IS on it be making load sound
The dashboard IS cracking up very bad
Recently there was a popping sound while the vehicle was turned on and was stationary. It resulted in cracks on the front passenger side dashboard. I am scared to drive the vehicle as I do not know what happened. IS there a lexus recall for the same problem?
TL* the contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard experienced severe cracking. The contact was concerned that the debris from the cracking could potentially become shrapnel that could cause injury in the event of an air bag deployment. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist since it was considered a cosmetic failure. The failure mileage was 116,000.
We lately have had dashboard cracks or melting although we have garage maintained our car very carefully with very low mileage of 70,000 only. This IS not healthy and very harmful to our lexus experience. By the way, we haven't had such cracks until now due to our well maintenance so that we missed dashboard recall which was expired on may 31 2017.
TL* the contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard experienced melting and cracking. Also, several sections of the dashboard separated and fell off. In addition, while driving, a glare from the sunlight was present on the melted dashboard, which caused a visibility hazard. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer( lexus of cool springs, 1636 westgate cir, brentwood, tn) were both notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 92,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the air suspension system failed. While driving various speeds, a loud noise was heard from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the motor that regulated the air suspension system failed. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer for diagnostic testing and repairs. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 170,000.
Dashboard cracked
I have been waiting for over 2 years now for the dashboard replacement recall and would like to sell the car but the dashboard IS cracking and unsightly.
Backing up my spare tire fell right on the ground I thought I hit someone looks like the cable rotted I was lucky was on my way to go on highway with my grand daughter and if it happened on highway someone could of caused a major accident
My 2004 lexus rx330 IS jumping all over the road, repair shop diagnostics show the ride height control and air ride struts have failed causing an unsafe condition, apparently lexus was fully aware of the issue only making this model year with the air ride control and knowing the system will only last ten years before failure. I guess they figured after ten years most vehicles would have either installed the conversion kit or have been sold forward so many times that new owners would not pursue a safety recall. an entire industry has been created to deal with the issue retailing conversion kits so much so that my toyota repair shop has suggested installing the conversion kit which they offer. My vehicle bounces when navigating turns and bumps, while sitting still the vehicle raises and lowers independent of anything manually initiated and side to side lifts and lowers.
The service (foot) brake IS not holding pressure at a stop sign or stop light when the vehicle IS in drive. Even though foot brake IS applied fully, vehicle tends to move forward and may cause an accident with the car/object in front of the vehicle.
The main dashboard IS cracked all around the passenger airbag, ignition switch, from the driver side all the way to the passenger side. It IS getting worse by the minute! It IS part of the lexus warranty enhancement program and I have been getting the run around for two years. Each time I call, its the same old story: 'not enough dashboards coming in and they are being replaced as they come in." I am number 452 out of 1400 lexus rx's that need replacement. Its ridiculous that in 2 years they haven't replaced a third of the dashboards??? Its a scam, they are just waiting people out until they run out of time. Though they will tell you that the warranty passes to anyone you sell the car to but who IS going to believe that?? They've wasted 2 years and aren't even close to replacing the dashboards.
As of 3/18/2016 I purchased an new radiator for a total of $945 at mcgrath lexus dealership in chicago on division st because the old radiator was leaking. As of 3/31/2017 the new radiator IS now leaking and the car would not start because the car was over heating. As of 4/1/2017 the timing belt and water pump for the steering will needs to be replaced. today 4/1/2017 mcgrath lexus dealer stated I will cost at least $1200 with labor included for them to repair. After further research on recalls for my 2004 lexus rx330 I discovered these required repairs are lexus deaker recalls. why would mcgrath lexus charge me if these are recalls on my lexus.
The dashboard melted and chemicals are seeping from it. The key was stuck in the ignition and broken when I attempted to remove it.
I was driving on the 59 freeway 1/20/17, when I heard a loud pop, like a rock hitting the windshield. However there was no damage, so I kept driving. I heard a noise where the sunroof IS this morning (1/21), and found that the sunroof was completely shattered. Houston has had a lot of rain and hail the last couple days, but I park in a garage, so my car hasn't been outside.
TL* the contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard was defective and exhibited fractures near the passenger side air bag area. The dealer stated that the manufacturer did not provide the replacement dashboard; therefore, they were unable to perform the replacement. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. *js
Parent co, toyota issued a voluntary replacement of dashboard due to cracked, sticky, shiny condition in what was an obvious attempt to stave off an official government recall and/or a class action. Parent co, toyota IS now stalling by not supplying the dealers with said dashboards they promised to replace. I first brought this issue to the attention of my dealer in may of 2012. Even if the dealer was receiving the dashboards at the rate of 2 or 3 a week as originally promised, it would be another full year or more before they would replace mine. At this time, the dealers are receiving none and no dashboards are being replaced. This IS not just a cosmetic issue, it's a severe safety hazard. In the case of my dash, which IS completely covered with cracks, if the airbag IS deployed at 200 mph those small little pieces of plastic will shred my face and the faces of anyone riding with me into hamburger. Considering the fact that the takata air bags can be deployed even when there isn't a accident, makes it even a bigger hazard. Enough IS enough, the government needs to step in and issue an official recall and force toyota to replace the dashboards immediately without any more legal stall tactics. The vehicle IS essentially undriveable in it's present condition. I have health conditions that prevent me from working at this time and need the vehicle to get to my doctors. I couldn't afford to buy a new vehicle even if this one was in excellent trade-in value. It's been over 4 years for me, longer for others and will be multiple more years at this rate. I need a safe vehicle to drive, like the one I was promised when I purchased this one.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On February 16, 2010, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened RQ10-003 to determine whether the scope of prior Toyota recalls relating to potential unintended acceleration were sufficiently broad, including, among others, Toyota recalls 07E-082, 09V-388, 10V-017, and 10V-023.NHTSA also requested information regarding potential electronic causes of unintended acceleration in Toyota and Lexus vehicles.I. Pedal Interference from Floor mats, Carpet Covers and Plastic Pads in Carpets.During the RQ10-003 investigation, ODI reviewed a large volume of documents to assess whether additional vehicles should be recalled.Following the agency's analysis, NHTSA requested that Toyota recall additional vehicles.Toyota complied with the agency's request. The details of these recalls are set forth more fully in Toyota's reports to NHTSA pursuant to 49 CFR Part 573.These recalls are as follows:Recall 11V-112: (1) model year (MY) 2004-2006 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid; and, (2) MY 2004-2007 Lexus RX330,RX350, and RX400h (hybrid model). The total estimated population under this recall is 769,379 vehicles. This recall remedies potential accelerator pedal entrapment caused by a loose floor carpet cover (trim panel). Recall 11V-113: (1) MY 2003-2009 through 2009 Toyota 4Runner; (2) MY 2006-2010 Toyota RAV4; and, (3) MY 2008-2011 Lexus LX570.The total estimated population under this recall is 1,381,000 vehicles. This recall supplements recall 09V-388 and remedies potential accelerator pedal entrapment by an unsecured floor mat.Recall 11V-115: (1) MY 2006-2007 Lexus GS300 (all wheel drive vehicles); and, (2) MY 2006-2007 Lexus GS350 (all wheel drive vehicles). The total estimated population under this recall is 19,647 vehicles. This recall remedies potential accelerator pedal entrapment caused by inadequate clearance between the pedal linkage and a plastic pad embedded in the vehicle's carpet.II. Potential Electronic Causes of Unintended Acceleration. After NHTSA opened RQ10-003, NHTSA launched a ten-month study of potential electronic causes of unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles.NHTSA launched the study in the spring of 2010 in light of concerns aired in Congressional hearings.NHTSA enlisted engineers at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with expertise in areas such as computer controlled electronic systems, electromagnetic interference and software integrity to assess whether electronic systems or electromagnetic interference played a role in incidents of unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles. That study has concluded. Two reports are associated with the study and are available on NHTSA's website.NASA's report is entitled Technical Support to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on the Reported Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Unintended Acceleration (UA) Investigation, NESC Assessment No. TI-10-00618 (Jan. 18, 2011).NHTSA's report is entitled Technical Assessment of Toyota Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Systems (Feb. 2011).Both reports should be read in conjunction with each other. As stated in its report, NASA did not find an electronic cause of large throttle openings that can result in unintended acceleration incidents. NHTSA did not find a vehicle-based cause of unintended acceleration incidents other than the physical pedal interference causes that are being addressed by Toyota's recalls. This RQ is closed.
On february 10, 2005, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened a preliminary evaluation to investigate alleged loss of brake power-assist in certain 2004 model year (my) lexus rx330 vehicles built through approximately june 30, 2004.the subject vehicles were manufactured at toyota motor manufacturing canada, inc.?s cambridge, ontario assembly plant and were equipped with vacuum brake booster assemblies sourced from aisin seiki co., ltd (aisin) subsidiary advics north america, inc. (Advics-na).to date, odi IS aware of 146 non-duplicative reports that allege loss of brake power-assist and 6 crashes allegedly caused by loss of brake power-assist (resulting in 1 minor injury) on the subject vehicles.the subject vehicles use a conventional brake booster assembly that contains a rubber diaphragm to separate the fore and aft pressure chambers.the outer edge of the rubber diaphragm IS held in place via a retaining groove on the brake booster body.if the booster loses vacuum (e.g., operator depletes the vacuum by pressing the brake pedal several times while the engine IS off), it may cause the diaphragm to deform in the area of the retaining groove to the point that insufficient seal exists between diaphragm and booster body, thus causing a momentary loss of brake power-assist.the advics-na supplied diaphragm has slightly different material properties compared to the diaphragm inside brake boosters supplied by advics japan, corp. (Advics-j) and used on 2004my lexus rx330 vehicles manufactured at toyota motor kyushu, inc.?s assembly plant.the softer rubber used in the advics-na diaphragm allows greater deformation and IS less resilient when compared to the advics-j diaphragm.loss of brake power-assist most often occurs at vehicle start-up and appears to be more prevalent in colder temperatures.most owners report that brake system operation returns to normal within a few seconds after vehicle start-up.testing conducted by the manufacturer indicates that the advics-na diaphragm?s reduced ability to return to shape IS exacerbated by colder temperatures and that loss of brake power-assist at start-up may last for a maximum of 95 seconds at temperatures below ?20 degrees celsius.however, the subject vehicles have a back-up system that can sense a loss of brake power-assist and enable the ABS actuator for brake hydraulic pressure support (i.e., brake pedal force assist).the manufacturer will conduct a service campaign (lexus special service campaign #5LA) to replace the vacuum brake booster assembly on all affected subject vehicles.the action taken by the manufacturer IS sufficient to resolve the issues raised by this investigation.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
