  Mazda North American Operations is recalling certain 2024-2025 Mazda3 and CX30 vehicles. The Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) units may set an error code and deactivate the air bags, due to a low battery condition.

  Risk and remedy

  Risk

  Air bags that do not deploy in the event of a crash increase the risk of injury.

  Remedy

  Dealers will reprogram the SAS unit with improved software or replace the unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2025. Mazda's number for this recall is 7525E.

  Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2024 Mazda 3, CX-30, and 2025 CX-50 vehicles. A malfunction in the forward sensing camera (FSC) may prevent the automatic emergency braking system and the lane-keep assist system from functioning. In addition, the headlights will not automatically adjust from high beams to low beams as intended.

  Risk

  Automatic braking, steering assist, and headlight control systems that do not function as intended can increase the risk of a crash.

  Remedy

  Dealers will inspect and replace the forward sensing camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 24, 2024. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, Option 6. Mazda's number for this recall is 6824H.

  Since purchasing the vehicle, the braking system has activated on its own for no reason. Today, Oct 19, 2026, it was cold and it said the system was failing. My camera system fails when it rains. My 2024 Mazda CX-30 has 62,000 miles and is experiencing the exact catastrophic phantom braking and forward camera failures detailed in NHTSA Recall 24V649000 (Mazda Campaign 6824H). My VIN is currently excluded from the recall campaign, but the vehicle is a severe highway safety hazard due to spontaneous unprovoked braking

  The vehicle is experiencing premature transmission failure, since about 9,000 miles. Mazda has been dropping the ball at replacing it under warranty and we found out there are 3 other CX-30s that I know of with similar issues. I believe Mazda has a faulty transmission in these cars based off my findings and other complaints.

  What is happening with my car are the exact symptoms of the known Mazda Recall 6824H - where the Smart Brake Support suddenly engages for no reason and when it does not need to - which has almost caused me to be rear-ended a few times. This has happened at least 7-8 times since I have owned the vehicle. Apparently, my VIN does not fall under the cars that Mazda reports for the Recall, but nonetheless, my car is still malfunctioning as the Recall describes, which is a safety issue for me. The Recall also states: "Due to an improper program setting, affected FSC (cameras) were not updated from production mode to normal mode. As a result, all three systems described (HBC, SBS, LAS) will not work as intended." My cameras are definitely not working as they should. I have had it in for service, and the technicians have not done anything at all. The Recall should definitely be expanded to owners experiencing these issues. As I have stated above, this incident has occurred at least 7-8 times, so I'll just enter in the most recent time that it happened in the Additional Details below since I cannot enter all of them.   Reporting Product Defect in Mazda Vehicles I am writing to bring to your attention a recurring design flaw affecting current Mazda vehicles, including models such as CX30, MX30, and potentially the Mazda3 series. Following heavy rain or high humidity conditions, there is a consistent issue with the tire pressure sensor alarming and the smart key being unable to unlock the car doors. I have checked my key fob battery, RF function, car battery - none of these are the root cause. Despite consulting local dealerships and various Mazda forums, no one seems to have a definitive solution to this problem. Therefore, I am reaching out to report the existence of this product defect. This issue appears to be more prevalent during summer in Arizona - after the thunderstorms, this issue came up every time. Even with the heat here, it takes from several hours to 2 days for the affected part to dry out and function again.

I could have been rear ended because my car automatically braked at an unpredictable time in rush hour traffic with someone very close behind me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It has happened to me maybe 4 times before but the dealer hasn't been able to reproduce it. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? It first happened soon after I bought my car new.

My wife and I were assured we were purchasing a good safe and reliable used vehicle. I feel this vehicle is extremely unsafe and unpredictable and ken ganley kia of mentor refuse to take this unsafe vehicle back or even pay for the repairs. I am utterly disappointed such a big name in the auto industry could turn there back on a customer not only that let a young family pull off in a unpredictable electrical nightmare of a vehicle and refuse to stand by it.

  I had both the left front and right front CV axles fail. My car only has 11.5k miles on. I first heard the clunking noise at 11k miles, went right to the dealer and had them watch me recreate the noise and they determined the axles needed to be replaced. This is incredible dangerous as the CV axle could have been completely disconnected from the wheel assembly leaving my car useless and uncontrollable.

  The contact rented a 2024 Mazda CX-30. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, an "i-ACTIVSENSE Partially Disabled Front Radar Malfunction" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact attempted to exit the highway; however, the vehicle failed to stop upon depression of the brake pedal. The contact continued to pump the brakes and even engaged the emergency brakes, but the vehicle failed to stop. Due to the failure, the contact crashed into the vehicle in front of her as the "Vehicle System Malfunction, Have the Vehicle Inspected" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact later sought medical attention for pain in her back; the other driver sustained injuries; however, the injuries are unknown as she did not seek medical attention from the paramedics that arrived at the scene. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene to an independent mechanic, where it remained in their possession. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 38.377.

The vehicle is currently located at Safford Mazda of Fredericksburg, 10653 Patriot Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA, 22408, and is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The transmission developed a loud whining and grinding noise while driving, indicating imminent risk of sudden loss of motive power or seizure. This creates a severe crash hazard, especially on highways or during acceleration/merging. Sudden loss of propulsion without warning can leave the driver unable to accelerate, maintain speed, or move out of harm’s way. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by Safford Mazda (authorized Mazda dealer). On October 16, 2025, they diagnosed the vehicle as requiring a complete transmission replacement (Repair Order/Multi-Point Inspection Video is available). The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but remains at the dealership awaiting parts. Starting approximately in late August, a transmission whine started zero warning lights or alerts ever appearing. Noise rapidly worsened. [XXX]: expert friend drove it once, instantly recognized imminent failure, and ordered me to stop driving immediately. At ~20,000 miles, the dealer confirmed the drive unit must be fully replaced, still with no dashboard warning ever triggered. Had I kept driving while trusting the silent system, this critical component could have seized at any moment, causing sudden total loss of propulsion at highway speed or in traffic with my young child on board. The complete absence of any alert during a proven, progressive failure is an urgent, unacceptable safety defect that demands immediate investigation and recall before a family is injured or killed. As of [XXX] , the vehicle has been out of service for 33+ calendar days. The dealer informed me I am #60 in Mazda’s national transmission replacement backlog.   While driving normally at highway speed on I-880 South, the braking system failed to decelerate the vehicle. When the brake pedal was pressed firmly, there was no normal slowing—only a sliding sensation, as if the wheels locked and the car moved forward on ice. This led to a collision with a stopped vehicle ahead. The following day, the Mazda App displayed a red alert message: “Brake system malfunction. Braking effectiveness may be decreased.” The vehicle’s airbags deployed very forcefully, causing bruising to both driver and passenger, even though the impact was not severe. Three days before the incident, the vehicle had a scheduled maintenance and recall service at a Mazda dealer, including a brake inspection and air-bag recall repair. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the insurance company and is currently stored at Copart Hayward, CA. The problem has not been inspected by Mazda yet, but a formal safety review is requested. The issue posed serious safety risks due to total loss of braking control and unexpected air-bag deployment.

They contacted my son and said they shouldn’t have sold the vehicle to him and needed the vehicle back. This is my son‘s first vehicle and it’s not a good experience and the dealership should never have sold that car to us knowing that there was not a fix. They were well aware of this on May 29.   Wife was driving 2024 Mazda CX-30 with (bought demo from dealer in February with 2500 miles on it and now 4006 miles) daughter ([XXX]) in passenger seat. Airbag deployed with no warning or malfunction lights or alerts prior. Knocked my daughter across the vehicle, startled and traumatized both of them. They were able to safely pull into a shopping center parking lot. Got vehicle towed to the dealer, John Kennedy Mazda in Pottstown PA. Called police--have report and pictures to document. Wife also has videos and pictures. The dealer provided us a loaner vehicle. Next day the service manager, Gary Daniels calls. I ask if he has ever seen this before. "I think I know what caused it. There was a bubble in the right front passenger tire." I responded that I saw how this was going and told him I will be in touch. Dealer not covering it under warranty and said "call our 800 # and your insurance." Called 800 line and talked to Giselle, our case manager who said this would be "escalated" and we would hear back in 48 hours. Of course, we did not hear back. Finally, after 2 voicemails and contacting Mazda USA via chat, they call back and say call insurance, it will not be covered under warranty. When I ask for what the escalation was, the rep said "well the dealer said there was a bubble in the tire." Complete runaround. I go to the dealer to return the loaner car and they provide me a watered down and inaccurate report saying the bubble was existing. Insurance has provided an estimate to repair the car for just under $5000. I am not comfortable having the dealer repair the car or any family member drive that car once repaired. Airbag malfunction warning lights everywhere post deployment. No warnings before and ridiculous claim that a bubble in a tire could cause an airbag to deploy. Considering the repair but also legal action as zero empathy by the dealer and no accountability of fixing what seems to be a similar issue in New Hampshire with the same model car 2 years ago. Luckily I nor my kids were in the car when the seat caught fire due to a magnifying effect. Magnifying Effect (Sunlight): If a clear glass or plastic object (like a water bottle, eyeglasses, or even a certain type of air freshener) was left on the seat in direct sunlight, it could have acted as a lens, focusing the sun's rays onto a small area of the seat material. Over time, this concentrated heat could become intense enough to ignite the fabric, especially if it's dry and flammable. This is more likely to happen on a hot, sunny day. I brought this up with the dealership and their reply was to contact Mazda! YOU are Mazda!

  None of the features dependent on the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) of my 2024 Mazda CX-30 are working. I have videos and corroborating statements to confirm that the headlights will not automatically switch from high to low beams, the lane assistance is not working properly, and the "Smart brake support with pedestrian detection" is not working. These defects have been present since I first received the vehicle. The dealer has refused to repair the issues by applying the remedies available under recall number 6824H because my VIN is not included in the recall. I emailed Mazda asking them to contact me and to call the dealer and authorize them to replace the Forward Sensing Camera. I am still awaiting reply from Mazda.

  When driving the vehicle incorrectly thinks there is an object in front of me and engages the emergency braking function. This has happened 3 times since getting the vehicle. The vehicle also occasionally incorrectly indicates there is a vehicle next to me when I turn on my turn signal. This has happened on a clear, sunny day. The incorrect emergency breaking could put me at a collision risk if another car is behind me and/or if engaged when driving at a high speed. This could endanger my life. I took my vehicle in to the dealership to explain the issue and they “could not replicate the issue” thus it was not fixed. There were no other warning signs indicating something is wrong with the vehicle.

This concern is most likely to be found in a cold weather areas just after the RAPGARD is removed at PDI.
