Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 and Freightliner Sprinter VS30 vehicles. The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) blower motor circuit may be inadequate, which can allow the wiring harness to overheat.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A wiring harness that overheats increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Owners are advised to only operate the HVAC front blower in manual (not automatic) mode whenever the engine is on. Do not use the maximum blower or lowest/highest temperature settings until the remedy is performed. Dealers will relocate and replace the fuse and wiring harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 26, 2023. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is 8297010.
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling one 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicle. The front axle was equipped with the incorrect-size brake discs.
Risk and remedy
Risk
The incorrect-size brake discs may affect braking performance, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
A dealer will replace the brake discs, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 13, 2021. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS3BRESCHE.
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2019 Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Spinter vans (platform 970 (VS30)), equipped with swivel seats. The wiring harnesses for the front seats may have been routed incorrectly and could become jammed and damaged in the swivel seat frames.
Risk and remedy
Risk
If the wiring harness is damaged, the side air bag within the seat may deploy inadvertently or not deploy as designed in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
Remedy
DVUSA will notify owners, and an authorized Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealer will inspect the wire harness routing for both front seats and will repair the wiring and add clips or cable ties as needed, free of charge. The recall began August 24, 2020. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS3DREHSIK.

When the object proximity sensors in the front or rear bumpers detect an object, the vehicle completely or severely limits the throttle. For instance, the rear bumper sensors detect the bike rack attached to my van and therefore limit the throttle response, regardless of transmission direction (forward or reverse). This seems to happen intermittently. When I mute the bumper sensor’s warning by tapping a button, then the throttle responds as expected. This is a known problem on the 2019+ VS30 Mercedes Sprinters, which affects all vans; it is not isolated to my specific van. This presents a safety issue, when the driver expects the vehicle to move but it does not. For instance, when rolling into traffic yet the throttle does not respond.

The contact owns a 2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500. After the purchase of the vehicle, the contact was informed that he was unable to take possession of the vehicle because of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V055000 (Electrical System) and that the parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the recall and initially informed him that the recall update would be available in mid-June however, the contact was recently informed that the update was still unavailable and there was no estimated date for the availability for the update. The manufacturer had been notified of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened this PE after receiving 11 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging that Model Year (MY) 2019 Mercedes-Benz (MB) Sprinter vans, configured for use as Amazon delivery vehicles or ambulances, roll away shortly after being shifted to park using the Auto-P function. A rollaway vehicle with no operator behind the steering wheel could potentially strike pedestrians, moving or parked vehicles or buildings, resulting in injury, fatality and/or property damage. Analysis of data provided by MB in response to the ODI Information Request (IR) letter showed a high failure rate. Following discussions with ODI about the failures, MB decided to conduct a safety recall. On December 15, 2021, Daimler Vans USA, LLC filed recall 21V-972 covering 48,400 model year (MY) 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz (MB) Sprinter vans. With recall 21V-972, this investigation is closed. The affected vehicle population determined by MB is Sprinter vehicles (VS30, Platform 907) produced between June 5, 2018 and November 30, 2020 with a manual parking brake and a 7-speed automatic transmission that was manufactured between May 1, 2018 and October 31, 2019, in the Hedelfingen transmission plant in Germany.Further use of Agency resources does not appear to be warranted. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist on other model or MY vehicles outside of the recall scope. - 11009854Complaint: Noises when reversing slowly <5 km/h (squeaking) Cause: There is a seal in the electric drivetrain that seals off the coolant system from the electric motor. This seal is moistened with coolant during forward travel. As a result of the change in rotational direction when reversing slowly, it may be the case that this sealing ring is no longer moistened. Squeaking noises may occur as a result of the so-called "stick-slip effect". This behavior does not impact the function or durability of the sealing ring and electric drivetrain. Remedy: Do not replace any parts. Explain the cause of the noises to the customer.

After completing the checks, please open a TIPS case and attach the collected information. Remedy Please complete the following inspections and tests: 1. Perform a tailpipe wipe test and document the results along with photographs. 2. Inspect the NOx connectors, pins, crimps, and harnesses between N37/7 and N37/8 to F152f59, Z7108, W105/3, and X30/81. 3. Provide actual values/sensor plausibility test results for all pressure and temperature sensors with the engine com- pletely cooled off for at least eight hours, the key on, and the engine off. Repeat the test with the engine/exhaust at operating temperature and the engine idling. 4. Perform a pressurized smoke test of the intake, charge air system, and exhaust to verify that there are no leaks. Apply overpressure (not exceeding 26 psi) from the exhaust pipe end and seal the system at the clean airline toward the air filter housing. Manipulate all components during the smoke test. 5. Provide diesel particulate filter actual values and regeneration history. 6. Inspect the SCR temperature sensor wirings and pins for electrical and physical correctness. Determine whether this sensor reaches operating temperature while driving and document the time it takes to reach operating temperatu- re. 7. Inspect the Adblue injector nozzle/s for clogging or leaking, and provide photographs. 8. With the Adblue injector/s removed from the exhaust system, perform two to three Adblue pressure tests and check for leaks. If leaks are detected, provide photographs. 9. Collect an Adblue sample, test fluid quality, and provide notes on its condition and quantity (color, clarity, separati- on, odor, etc.), along with a photograph for review. Also, provide a photograph of the spray pattern. 10. Separate the exhaust pipe downstream of the diesel particulate filter, inspect the diesel particulate filter and SCR, and note any soot, blockage, or damage. Provide photographs. 11. Inspect the SCR catalyst interior for dried Adblue residue, and provide photographs. 12. Perform several test drives at varying speeds to gather graphical illustrations (screenshots of the completed graphs in PDF format) of signals from NOx sensors. Provide three to four graphs or actual values of operational NOx sensors with XENTRY; see attachments for examples. Additionally, provide one graph/screenshot of the vehicle idling at operating temperature. Disconnect the Adblue injection valve, drive for approximately 30 minutes to exhaust all Ad- blue within the SCR catalytic converter, and provide two to three additional NOx graphs/screenshots with the sensor disconnected. - 11003187Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz Vans, has determined that on certain Sprinter and Metris vehicles, the B-pillar certification label might not contain information on the vehicle's rim size, tire size, and cold tire inflation pressure required under FMVSS 110 or, as applicable, FMVSS 120. In this case, relevant regulatory requirements might not be met. Mercedes-Benz believes this issue has no impact on vehicle safety. Mercedes-Benz intends to submit a petition to NHTSA for exemption from the notification and remedy requirements of 49 U.S.C. chapter 301, pursuant to 49 CFR Part 556, on the basis that this non-compliance is inconsequential as it relates to motor vehicle safety. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign to remedy new vehicles in dealer inventory. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the Certification Label on the affected vehicles.

Cause of Complaint A: Increased friction between the EGR Valve blade and seat due to soot deposits causing a delay of the EGR Valve being able to reach the target value of the EGR Valve position controller. NOTE: This causes the EGR Valve blade and potentially the boost pressure controller to oscillate. Cause of Complaint B: Soot deposits between the EGR Valve blade and seat leading to the EGR Valve no longer being able to meet the desired target of the EGR Valve position controller. Cause of Complaint C: Internal EGR Valve or other electrical faults related to the EGR Valve function.

Damaged body components will need to be repaired or replaced by a MB certified collision center. While at the collision center, please request a visual check for cracks on threaded connection of door holder in front door. 3. Replace lower hinge of front door on affected side of vehicle. (lower hinge will need to be painted) 4. Replace door holder (on both sides) with modified, shortened door holder. 5. For a repeat failure on a vehicle that has been previously repaired with the updated parts, Please create a PTSS case.
