I was using an exit to merge into the highway and when I merged, the vehicle completely lost power. I could hear the engine working but no power to the vehicle. A semi almost totaled me but thank god it merged thanks to another driver. The rolled barely making it to the side of highway and found out the transmission blew out. I want to make this perfectly clear: I do routine maintenance conducted at professional shops for all oil changes and or other issues religiously and the miles on vehicle aren't high. In other words, I almost lost my life because of this with no working vehicle to add. This incident happened in a busy highway. No acceleration, reverses or anything else other than park. The mechanics told me that this model comes with a cheap filter that allows anomalies such as poorly made material from the SUV or others to slowly get in the transmission. As stated before, I regularly keep up maintenance to this vehicle. I don't know how this happened but a good transmission all of a sudden died and I too almost lost my life from a semi doing 75 on a highway.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 mitsubishi endeavor. The contact stated that extensive mold developed due to a leak in the vehicle. Due to the placement of the air conditioning drain plug, water leaked onto the floorboard. The contact stated that the carpet in the vehicle was soaked. While driving and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the contact's foot slipped off of the brake pedal due to the bottom of her shoe being wet from the leak. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics who confirmed that the water leaked from the drain plug. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.
My vehicle has the same problem as 2006-2008 model years of the same car. That IS, the heater controller signal to the hvac system codes as U111, and consequently the a/c will not turn on at all, but indicator light shows it to be on. The compressor IS not receiving the signal from the controller. The dealer says this recall (number 10v514000) does not cover 2005 cars.
As I was driving on the highway and and as I sped up the vehicle kept fish tailing it felt like it was the front of the vehicle . so I went straight to my mechanic and he showed me the rust of the rear subframe of the car and it was detached and broken. he suggested I not drive the vehicle because I amy lose co trol of the vehicle.
The vehicle has a very bad vibration and severe wining sound, not sure what it IS but we dont feel safe driving it. New tires , rotors, and breaks were installed and still the same problem. It usually starts vibration at about 25 mph and IS hard to maintain a speed.
Air conditioning drain plug doesn't drain and driver side floor gets very wet causing damaged floor and moldy smell after a while
Wet floor board on drivers side due to a leaking hvac. May cause slippery feet while operating vehicle. Also causing mildew and or rust. Seen lots and lots of discussion on net about this known problem. And they even have a bulletin on there website for the problem. but no recall?
I was pulling into an apartment parking lot at 3 miles per hour or less applied brake and car surged forward. I applied more pressure to brake and the car surged again and would not stop. This caused me to crash into a unoccupied parked car which banged another unoccupied car parked next to it. All 3 cars were damage. My car and the car I hit sustained front end damage. The third car was scraped along the driver side door and rear panel. There was a witness to this accident that told the responding california chp officer that he saw my car experience two surges as I slowly entered the parking. He also informed the office that he saw my break lights on before the first surge happened. updated 02/24/16*lj updated 12/12/2017*cn

I was driving along the highway, I smelled what seems to be burning plastic, I saw smoke from under my glove compartment, suddenly my a/c stop working. Upon inspection I notice that the electrical plug to the fan motor looked charred/burnt. I removed it for safety reasons. I read over the internet that IS a common problem with these vehicles, the item should be recalled. *tr

Drivers side floor soaked, after checking forums sounds like a a/c drain issue. *tr
I was driving the vehicle home from work when I smelled electrical wire burning through out the car. It was coming from under the glove compartment. I pulled off the road to investigate. The connector to the a/c & heater motor was charred. During internet research I discovered that this IS very common occurrence. What people have said on-line was that it was a poor design, thus the connecting pins are too close which causes them to heat up and char the connector. if I would have had a new paper or backpack in that area, it could cause a fire while driving resulting in a fatal accident. I tried reconnecting, that part I used was charred a second time. I believe it should be recalled by the manufacturer. *tr
The rear trunk latch fails to unlock. I cannot open either the glass or the trunk. Have to use the manual release from inside to open. *tr
Air conditioning water drains into the vehicle causing clogging and flooding of the drivers side floor the mileage IS only115k. This causes bad odor, growth of microorganisms and could lead to accidents because the floor on the drivers side becomes slippery. Took it to the dealer but they said they have been receiving same complaints. They inspected it for 30 minutes and said looks like the problem has been fixed. Next day after using the air condition for about an hour the floor was flooded again. *tt

While air conditioner IS running and vehicle IS in motion, blower stops blowing cold air, water drips inside vehicle on passenger side floor gets soaked with water and moldy smell inside vehicle. When making turns, you can hear water sloshing around inside the dashboard, and what sounds like static or sparks behind the dash. Air conditioning water recipient clogs causing flooding of the drivers side floor. It IS the third time it happens to my mitsubishi endeavor 2005 SUV., whose mileage IS 55K. This causes bad odor, growth of microorganisms and could lead to accidents because of wet shoes. Additionally, unclogging the water recipient IS expensive. *tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The subject vehicle ignition-park interlock and shift lock (brake-shift interlock) systems are mechanically actuated.the systems utilize two cable assemblies that connect to a plastic housing mounted to the shift lever mechanism.within the housing IS a lever (interlock lever) that the ignition-park interlock cable connects to.when the interlock lever IS positioned in its rearward travel range, the ignition key removal IS prevented; when the lever IS positioned in its forward position, key removal IS allowed.according to mitsubishi, the ignition key interlock cable may allow the interlock lever to fall forward during vehicle use.in this state the ignition key can be removed from the ignition switch when the gearshift mechanism IS not in the park position.if the driver does not shift to park before removing the key and fails to engage the parking brake, the vehicle could roll and a crash could occur.most of the reported crash incidents were minor in nature involving unoccupied vehicles rolling from a parked condition and striking other vehicles or objects.the single injury incident occurred when the operator parked the vehicle, exited, and was subsequently struck by the vehicle as it rolled away.the type and severity of the injuries were not described.in a letter dated march 21, 2008, mitsubishi advised nhtsa that it will conduct a safety recall to address this condition (see www.safercar.gov, recall action 08v-139 for further details); remedy details and timing are to be determined.accordingly the investigation IS closed.
