I am having problems with my car not wanting to start. this has been going on for quite some time. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the cam shaft censor after a month or two the starting problem started again. I then had the coils, wires and battery cable replace and still have the problem. I want to know if there has been recalls for these problems no I have not been told. I only have 68000 miles on this car and should not be having this problem. *tr

1. Purchased "as IS" in daylight hours, did not notice interior lights did not function. 2. Interior lights and trunk light do not function. this IS a permanent condition. 3. Using ohmmeter, interior light filaments checked, trunk light filament checked. all ok. no voltages measured at inputs to all. fuses all ok. door switch ok. lifted fuses 16 & 17 in engine compartment, no voltage to contacts that should have 12 volts always on, per schematic. looked up recall # 29924 for this model, year, make, and would appear to be under color of grounding of wires. *Tr
The drivers side floor IS constantly wet in my 2001 galant. It started happening in the last 3 months. I checked the underside of the car and do not see any holes; the undercarriage coating looks fine. There IS a little support beam under the floor board of the car that I can not peer into. The fluid does not appear to be coolant. It does not look or smell like coolant. *tr
Paint turning white a peeling over entire vehicle. *Tr
I have 2 complaints. I have a 2002 black mitsubishi galant ES and like many others I see on the road and have read about on the internet. Oxydization has occurred all over my car, it started about 2 years ago and buffing and waxing does not help. Also, another problem that started about 2 years ago: when turning from air to heat or vice versa, there IS a loud clicking noise and then it will turn over when it feels like. I think recently it has just given out and completely broke. I just paid this car off and am embarrassed to drive it. *Tr
Paint defect leads t rapid oxidation and rusting of car. *Tr
2002 black mitsubishi galant, it seems that all the galants for several years have problems with the paint..the paint its like disappearing if you look around and pay attention you will find a white coating coming from the primer used... I would like to know why a recall have not been issue yet. *Tr
While the 2002 galant was in park and engine off , vehicle was parked in steep driveway I was fastening baby into carseat on rear passenger side other child bumped gear shift into reverse and car engaged . I was dragged with vehicle down driveway across street into a yard and into a tree where vehicle came to rest after crashing into tree. The galants shift lock does not work the brake should have to be depressed to shift and not at all if engine IS off. This needs to be investigated as this could well have been fatal. Luckily I received only a broken foot and cuts. *Tr
2002 mitsubishi galant has a paint defect that IS seen in every black galant that IS seen on the road. The manufacturer denies any responsibility. in addition the vehicle loses hub caps constantly. This can also be seen in almost every galant on the road manufactured around those years. *Tr

Our 2002 black mitsubishi galant has paint fading on the trunk and top. two bodyshops have told us this IS common with mitsubishi due to the clear coat used. this IS a well maintained car with only 70,000 miles and looks terrible. *Tr
My 2002 silver mitsubishi galant gtz looks horrible. noticing after the car was purchased that the car did not have any real shine to it. tried waxing and still looked bad. even running you hands over it does not feel smooth. well in 2007 I noticed blotchy spots all over it no looks like the paint IS gone completely. I actually paid extra for the clear coat protection and undercoating innercoating when purchased new. it's as if it showed up as soon as the warranty expired. no one can give me any information and I think I may get a lawyer too. as I read more complaints about this problem, the more and more ticked I am! *Tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
In response to this investigation, mitsubishi motors north america (mmna) initiated a special program on july 31, 2009, to extend the warranty coverage on model year (my) 2001-2003 galant vehicle passenger side window switches to 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first.notification of this special coverage program to all registered vehicle owners IS scheduled to begin in late-september 2009.owners who have experienced a problem with the power window switch (blown fuse, intermittent operation or power window malfunction) or who spilled liquids or beverages onto the front passenger door window switch will be entitled to have the switch replaced and any related repairs performed at no charge.the agency IS aware of 35 alleged front passenger door panel heat, smoke or fire incidents, including three reported minor burns or bruises.there are no reported crashes or fatalities.there are 307 warranty claims of switch malfunctions or short circuits without any reported heat, smoke or fire.mmna inspection and analysis of fire-damaged door panels/switches found evidence of spilled liquids with high sugar content on the power window switches.mmna claims the residue of these liquids led to a shorting/smoke/ fire condition inside the switch/door panel assembly.a safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will continue to monitor this issue and reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.see document file for additional information.
Complaints allege that a fire erupted in the front passenger door.in mitsubishi's response to odi's march 12, 2008 information request, mitsubishi asserts that the alleged defect may occur when large amounts of liquids, more than 100cc (3.4 oz), like a soft drink were spilled directly over the power window switch area, all at once and at one time.mitsubishi found that as the liquid dries off, electrolytes and carbonized particles accumulate between the terminals in the power window switch and become a conductive material.as a result, the switch may start to heat up and melt or ignite the plastic components.however, mitsubishi also asserts that the alleged defect IS very rare and that burning damage will not occur unless liquids enter into the power window switch.odi upgraded this preliminary evaluation to an engineering analysis, ea08-011, to further evaluate this issue.
