Risk
Improperly adjusted headlights may not illuminate the road properly, or cause a glare to oncoming drivers, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the headlights for sealing caps and install missing caps as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 28, 2022. Owners may contact Porsche's customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is ANB4.

Risk
If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. Owners are instructed to use the parking brake until their vehicle is repaired. The recall began August 9, 2019. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AKB1.
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2003-2006 Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo vehicles, 2004-2006 Cayenne vehicles, and 2006 Cayenne S "Titanium" Edition vehicles. These gasoline-powered vehicles have a fuel pump flange that may crack, allowing fuel to leak.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel filter flanges with new filter flanges that have a protective film, free of charge. The recall began July 6, 2018. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AH10.

When involved in a crash, the child restraints may not be properly secured increasing the risk of injury or death to the seat occupant.
Remedy
Dealers will permanently install a clip in either of the affected rear outboard seat belts and provide an owner's manual insert. the clips will prevent unwarranted conversion from alr to elr mode with child seat installation. the recall began may 17, 2005. owners should contact porsche at 1-800-545-8039.
On certain passenger vehicles, the rear seat belt latch attachment bolt IS insufficient riveted.

Certain sport utility vehicles may have had a transfer case installed that could, due to changes in the housing casting, result in the oil pump rotation. should this occur, oil starvation of the internal gears might result.

Continued operation of the vehicle could result in a fracture of the transfer case housing. incorrect torque would then be applied to the driven wheels or oil could leak and contact the tires.
Remedy

Walls are scored and engine needs to be replace. checked on-line for this condition with other V-8 porsche owners to find that it's very common. this seems like a design issue and safety wise ( no power, miss firing and stalling). a $100K new should not have a V-8 engine that has a design defect that IS worth less at such low miles.

The porsche cayenne IS notorious for drive / cardan shaft failures. Had bad drive shaft noises, and subsequent premature failure, it was a worn center support dampener and a faulty center support bearing. I experienced banging, bumping, grinding noises from my porsche cayenne and was unaware at the time it was the drive shaft. I have outlined the noises and causes below: - a clanking or clunking noise while accelerating or from deceleration to acceleration around 35TO 40mph and while cayenne was shifting from 2ND to 3RD to 4TH gear. around 5TH and 6TH gear going around 50-60 mph it stopped. If I kept the rpm under 200 it seemed to run ok, no issue, but if I pressed the accelerator hard or gunned it, it went haywire. It was the result of a worn and damaged dampener or diaphragm located on the center support bearing. This condition will allow for the drive shaft to travel up and down with variations in drive line torque. This movement will produce a loud clanking or clunking sound and make for a very uncomfortable ride. I later found out that this condition IS one of the most common failures on the cayenne drive shaft, all models 2003 to 2006. this should be a recall and free fix by porsche because it has happened to so many of the vehicles and model years stated above! but no, porsche quoted me $2,500 to fix it. not fix the problem area, the hard rubber dampener on the center support shaft of the power train, which by the way IS possible. no, porsche would only replace the entire power train for $2,500. *js

I had to turn the car off immediately in the middle of traffic to avoid possible engine failure. I towed the car to my mechanic and he indicated its a design defect from porsche and the plastic tubes are now replaced by orem aluminum tubes. Upon further investigation, I was able to determine that the design flaw by porsche was concealed. The cayenne s IS in the shop and I'm hoping that only the hoses need replacement and nothing else was damaged due to this issue. A huge dent in the wallet as this IS a costly fix. *tr

The contact was able to avoid the failure if the vehicle maintained a higher speed. After several days, the vehicle was not able to be driven. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repair; however when notified, they stated that the failure could be related to a failed drive shaft. The manufacturer was not made aware. The failure and current mileages were 94,000.

The vehicle was taken directly to an independent repair shop where engine coolant was added to the vehicle. While adding the coolant, the technicians noticed that the coolant was leaking out through its plastic tubing. The vehicle was then towed to an authorized dealer where the plastic tubing for the engine coolant was being replaced with aluminum tubing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 54,500.

Coolant pipe start to fail for the model year 2004-2006. the material for coolant pipe was made of plastic and it resulted in a disintegration of pipe overtime due to temperature changes. porsche technicians identified this issue and porsche engineers also identified this issue. they came up with a replacement part which IS made of aluminum to mitigate damages to the engine due to sudden failure of coolant pipe. if the pipe busted, it will cause the vehicle to fail during operation and may result in a hazardous incident causing environmental issue and possibly injury to the driver and its passenger. it IS highly recommend that porsche to recall this product and replace it for all defect to prevent further incident. additionally, this IS an engineering flaw so the cost to repair, replace or to upgrade cannot be the owner responsibility. *tr

During the preliminary evaluation phase, odi identified 76 owner complaints and 6,582 warranty claims related to airbag warning light illumination from either a faulty side-impact airbag module or wiring harness.to date, there has been no allegation of crash, injury or death reported.porsche reports that a bad batch of modules was produced during mid-november to mid-december, 2003.however, porsche?s warranty data indicates that most of the modules replaced under warranty were on vehicles built before and after this period indicating that the issue could be more widespread.porsche reports that the wiring harness malfunction IS due to a faulty connector leading to the airbag module as a result of environmental and mechanical stress.in june and november of 2004, porsche added a protective coat of lubricant gel to the connector and rerouted the harness to fix the problem on all future production.porsche has not issued a recall campaign, but it has circulated to its dealers two service bulletins, both in september 2004 to address the above issues.this investigation IS being upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea06-005) and will include my 2006 vehicles.
