5 recalls name the 2006 Scion TC. Newest first.
Gulf states toyota IS recalling certain model year 2005-2010 vehicles for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 110, "tire selection and rims." these vehicles were sold between september 1, 2005 and june 2, 2008 without the requisite load carrying capacity modification labels.
This does not meet the standard requirements.
Dealers will mail to consumers the corrected label or the customer will have the option for dealers to install the label free of charge. Dealers will also correct the owner's manual. the safety recall began on may 27, 2010. owners may contact gulf states toyota at 713-580-3300.
Southeast toyota IS recalling certain model year 2005-2011 passenger vehicles for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 110, "tire selection and rims." these vehicles were sold without the requisite load carrying capacity modification labels.
A driver may overload a vehicle which may increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will mail to consumers the corrected label or the customer will have the option for dealers to install the label free of charge. the safety recall began on may 27, 2010. owners may contact southeast toyota at 1-800-301-6859.
On certain vehicles, the side impact seat-bolster and curtain side airbags may inadvertently deploy. this condition can occur if the door for that side of the vehicle IS closed with a high rate of force while the vehicle's ignition IS in the "on" position or within 90 seconds of turning the ignition key from the "on" position to the "off" position.
If the side impact seat-bolster and curtain side airbags inadvertently deploy, they could cause personal injury if an occupant IS seated on the same side of the vehicle as the door that IS closed with a high rate of force. until the repair has been performed, it IS recommended that a minimal force/speed be used to close the driver and passenger doors or closing the doors after 90 seconds have elapsed from turning the ignition key from the "on" to the "off" position.
Dealers will replace the two side impact airbag sensors and install a urethane pad in the front doors, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on november 6, 2006. owners may contact toyota at 1-866-548-1851.
On certain vehicles, due to improper assembly of the air bag inflator, which IS used in the side air bag, the curtain shield air bag, and the knee air bag assembly, some inflators were produced with an insufficient amount of the heating agents necessary for proper air bag deployment. in this condition, the expansion force of the gas may be insufficient to…
This may increase the risk of injury to the occupant in the involved seating position in the event of a crash.
Dealers will replace the specific srs air bag. the recall began on april 6, 2006. owners may contact toyota at 1-888-270-9371, scion at 1-866-548-1851, or lexus at 1-800-255-3987.
On certain passenger vehicles equipped with a glass wind deflector, the deflector, if impacted by a projectile, such as road debris, while driving with the wind deflector in the upward-tilted position at highways speeds, may shatter and separate from the frame.
Pieces of the wind deflector glass may separate from the frame and fall upon the vehicle occupants causing driver distraction and/or injury.
Dealers will install a protective laminate to the wind deflector to prevent pieces of glass from separating from the wind deflector frame. the recall began october 27, 2005. owners may contact toyota at 1-866-707-2466.
The contact owns a 2006 Scion TC. The contact stated that after performing a vehicle inspection of the engine compartment, he became aware that the coolant reservoir was abnormally low; eventually finding a leak near the rear of the engine. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the cylinder head bolts resulting in a coolant leak. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: S-SB-0004-11. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 287,000.
While driving heard a noise like something fell and was dragging in the back. Pulled off and noticed the plastic piece for my trunk had just fallen off. I hadn't been using the trunk.
TL* the contact owns a 2006 scion tc. While driving approximately 65 mph, the sun roof exploded and the glass shattered without impact or warning. There were no injuries. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
While driving on a highway, the moon-roof/sun-roof shattered spontaneously. The damage does not appear to be caused by any object striking the glass. I have dashcam footage of the incident, in which two distinct pops can be heard when the glass shatters. Additionally, the extension mechanism (two supports on the sides of the glass) were fully extended. It IS my assumption that one of the supports failed and fully extended, forcing the glass to bend and ultimately put enough stress on the glass to fail, at which point the other support fully extended. Please see attached pictures. It appears videos are not able to be uploaded, but please contact me if you would like this information.
Excessive oil consumption between oil changes, I need to check the level every month and add oil if needed. when I turn on the vehicle, the radio turns on alone or turns itself off, without pressing the button. these 2 complaints have been going on for more than two years.
I was in a car accident I was the passenger .we were on car accident we rolled several times in the airbags never come off. I'm a quadriplegic I broked C6. I flew out off the sun roof.the car was on motion on a stree. I was found 62 feet from the car
Oil consumption
Engine block bolts are attached to an aluminum body of the engine causing bolts to become loose with time and can not rethread. Causing coolant to leak from bolt area
I change my oil every 3000 or less miles with full synthetic amsoil 5W-20. I have to put in 1/2 a quart of oil for every gas fill up. I'm a highway driver that sets cruise control at 75. I don't dive crazy. 2007 has an extended warranty, where IS the one for 2006?
I was driving down highway going 55-60mph when my moonroof exploded! It literally sounded like a bomb or gunshot overhead. The dealership says there IS no recall and this IS not a manufacturer issue... I'D have to disagree as I'm not the only one with this issue.
I was on my way home and as I was turning on the street to pull into my apartment complex I heard gunshot sound but no one was around and no one was on the street I pulled into my apartment complex and park my car as I was getting out of my car glass started to fall on my face I realized that my sunroof had shattered.
Car was involved in a multiple flip/rollover in which the driver side seat belt did not lock, causing the driver to thrash about inside the vehicle resulting in multiple skull, spine, and other bone fractures ultimately resulted in the death of the driver. The passenger side seatbelt did lock and the passenger survived. in addition to the seatbelt not locking, none of the air bags deployed. I mean none of them!! please look into these vehicles in hopes to save someone's life!! updated 09/19/17 *bf ..updated 12/11/17 *bf *js *js *jb
The wind defeletor shaddered as I was driving down the freeway at 8:30 pm doing 60mpg. It had been open all day,
This car IS constantly burning oil. my oil pressure light never fails to turn on somewhere between 1000-2000 miles after each oil change, and I have to refill to stop the light from coming back on.
Takada recall airbags - was my car affected by this recall?
Oil consumption!!! I've owned my 2006 scion tc for about 5 years and have recently been experiencing a huge oil consumption issue. It didn't phase me at first, although now I need to set my odometer to zero and refill my oil every 800 miles. I believe it IS certain internal parts that are causing this problem, such as the pistons and the piston rings . I've noticed that this has been an ongoing problem for a lot of scion tc's lately, which has been taken care of through an extended warranty program for the model years of 2007-2009. I'm trying to prove that issue IS also affecting the 2006 model year too, and would greatly appreciate it if I could receive some help concerning this issue. I will upload a photo of an old piston that shows this exact problem.
Engine has sever oil consumption to where we are adding a quart or more every 1000 miles or so in between oil changes. Worries me to were I check every week just to make sure there IS enough oil. I should not have to worry about that sort of thing. while driving om streets or highways, happens every where, as you shift at a certain rpm (about 1500-2500-3000 ect) the car will hesitate for a few seconds. We originally thought it was from the a/c since I bought the car in the summer time but once the a/c IS off the car still hesitates. we have noticed we are not the only ones with this issues but we are the only year that IS reporting them. what IS going on with my engine and fuel system?! please help!!!!
Car does not shift well I replaced clutch and other parts related to clutch n car still cant shift good I cant drive car
TL* the contact owns a 2006 scion tc. While driving approximately 50 mph, the glass wind deflector shattered. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the glass window reflector shattered and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 05v483000 (visibility); however, the vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 157,400.
Driving speed limit down freeway when I heard a loud pop, almost as if a gun shot. My sunroof had completely shattered. I had it replaced and less than 3 months later the same thing happened.
At highway speed, drivers side rear tire failed. Caused the vehicle to become unstable and dangerous. Sumitomo IS the manufacturer, and the tires themselves still had apprx. 12,000 miles left on the life of the warranty. Going to have all others checked, and replacing the affected tire.
Bracket that limits door opening gets caught on window track therefore creating a tear and pulling track back , window comes off the track and IS unable to work properly and if forced window will shatter, dealer solution IS only to replace automobile door since apparently track can not be replace itself.
TL* the contact owned a 2006 scion tc. While driving 65 mph, the contact noticed flames underneath the vehicle as it spread to the engine compartment of the vehicle. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A police report was filed. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 186,594.
Leaking engine coolant from back of cylinder head. Took car in to have head gasket changed was told the gasket was not the problem. The problem was the engine block that the threads in the engine block were stripped. Was told by toyota that it was a big problem and it would cost between 1500-1700 to fix the head bolt threads. consider the number of cars trucks and suvs with this engine there should be a recall or some type of owner assistance for this problem.
TL* the contact owns a 2006 toyota scion tc. While parked, the vehicle accelerated without notice. The vehicle was also moved forward while the brake pedal was depressed. The contact also stated that the throttle became stuck. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who could not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,300.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Odi's investigation discloses that the subject vehicles sustain moonroof shattering and/or damage at rates comparable to those for most other similarly equipped vehicles.this review also discloses that such incidents occur in most vehicles with moonroofs and that while tempered glass panels commonly used in moonroof fabrication are shatter-resistant, some catastrophic failures do in fact occur.impact with small stones or road debris may result in immediate or delayed shatter incidents, depending on the extent and nature of damage sustained by the glass moonroof panel.the manufacturer concludes that incidents of moonroof shatter are random occurrences that result primarily from impact with small stones or other objects while the vehicle IS in motion. A safety-related defect trend has not been identified and this pe has been closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety defect does not exist.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
