Driving on XXX in [XXX] east bound, I heard an unusual noise. I pulled over at the next rest stop only to discover the trailer hitch was dragging the ground. the motorhome frame extensions that the hitch (and the safety chains) attaches to was dangling down. this could have been horrible if they completely separated from the chassis and been a runaway trailer. I disconnected the trailer had my wife drive my truck out from [XXX] and towed the trailer back home (2.5 hours) I drove the motorhome minus the trailer home and disassembled it to discover the frame rails had failed. the trailer weights were under the rated capacity for the motor home. two of the photos are the left extension after I removed the bolts and slid the extension aft INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
