Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2008-2019 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX 570 vehicles. Over time, the seat belt tension sensor wire harness may break and deactivate the front passenger air bag, knee air bag, and passenger seat-mounted side airbag.

In the event of a crash, deactivated air bags can increase the risk of injury .
Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will modify the front passenger seat belt assembly or replace it with an improved one, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are Lexus Interim J2L and Remedy JLL, Toyota Interim J15 and Remedy J05.

An incorrect driver or front passenger air bag may not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected air bag assemblies, free of charge. The recall began September 29, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is H0S. Lexus' number for this recall is HLD.

Risk
A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.
Remedy
Toyota and Lexus will notify owners of affected vehicles and dealers will modify or replace the accelerator pedal and replace any driver's floor mat not specified for the vehicle. Owners of the Lexus vehicles were notified during August 2012. Toyota has not yet provided a notification schedule for the additional Land Cruiser vehicles. Failure to warn of tire deflations IS a non-compliance with fmvss 138 and could lead to tire failure increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
For the land cruiser, sequoia, tacoma and tundra vehicles, the dealer will re-calibrate the tire pressure monitoring system on affected vehicles and install an updated tire and loading information label at no charge. for the FJ cruiser vehicles, the TPMS cannot be reset so the electronic control unit (ecu) for the TPMS will be replaced. toyota IS currently developing the remedy ecu. if an owner IS not certain whether his or her vehicle IS equipped with these accessories, please contact any toyota dealer for an inspection at no charge. the safety recall began on march 31, 2011. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
Gulf states toyota IS recalling certain model year 2005-2010 vehicles for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 110, "tire selection and rims." these vehicles were sold between september 1, 2005 and june 2, 2008 without the requisite load carrying capacity modification labels.

TL* the contact owns a 2010 toyota land cruiser. When the push to start button was applied, an abnormal popping noise was heard. The vehicle was engaged in the park position at the time of the failure. Also, when the brake pedal was applied, the vehicle failed to respond. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a ford focus and two other vehicles. Also, smoke emerged from underneath the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. The contact called toyota of killeen (4001 e central texas expy, killeen, tx 76543, (254) 690-5800) and was informed to have the vehicle towed to their facility. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 1903180901. The failure mileage was unknown.

Secondary air injection system pumps have become fouled due to uncovered intake. Water and debris, within both pumps due to poor design. Damage to both pumps and valves. while in motion the vehicle warning system activates. Without warning the vehicle can go into limp mode - max 30 miles an hour. Very dangerous if on a highway, when the issue pops up.

An independent mechanic replaced the foot rest; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,804. The vin was not available.

This damage is the result of actual etching of the paint and appears as pitting or water spots. As acid rain droplets on the vehicle surface evaporate, the concentration strength of the acid increases, causing deeper and more rapid damage. This evaporation and corrosive action also occur more rapidly on dark colored cars as direct sun heat increases. It is the dealers responsibility to protect and maintain the quality of the vehicles paint finish after receipt at the dealership prior to the first sale. In areas known for high frequency and/or concentration of acid rain (see Figure 1), frequent vehicle washing during high heat or humidity periods will minimize the potential for paint damage caused by acid rain. It is further recommended that either reverse osmosis or deionized water be used to prevent water spotting.
