I was driving a 2012 yaris when I was in an accident that totaled the vehicles. I was hospitalized for 3 weeks which I believe the airbags had played a major role in the seriousness of the injuries I sustained but not sure how to prove that they failed to protect me and possible they made things worse with the scar across my forehead from being sliced open needing numerous staples as well as shattered pelvis. Is there any way by looking at the pictures can you tell me if the air bags did their job
Was driving on the freeway at 70 mph and had to brake for slower traffic ahead. When I depressed the brake pedal, the ABS system engaged, braking the left side of the car, then the right almost sending me off the road. After this had happened, the speedometer had started jumping to different speeds very rapidly and I was unable to tell my correct speed. The antilock brakes have continued to engage randomly when they are not needed, cause loss of braking control and the overall ability to come to a stop. The speedometer also jumps around every now and then. The ABS light was only triggered once, and then turned off.
On my way home, a 70'S truck hit my left side, the airbag came out blind me and made lost control of the vehicule. IS a miracle that im alive. happened at pr132 KM0.4 guayanilla pr 00656.
Saludos cuando me detengo las revoluciones bajan muchos el carro empieza a temblar y hace como para apagarse

Brakes: left side rear brake shoe adjuster bar part replacement does not fit on brake. Dealer and pep boys both tried to replace it and the parts do not match, a right side adjuster bar had to be used in its place. Repairs were attempted several times over a period of approximately 10 months from nov 2016 to sept 2017. speed sensor: I was driving 65 mph on the interstate in the middle lane when the speed sensor stopped working, the car acted like it was in neutral and I could not get over or continue driving it. Had to get to the side of the road, very dangerous situation. Speed sensor replaced and problem was fixed. This problem happened in august 2015, mileage was approximately 75, 000 at time.
My car was in wreck that totalled the car out and the airbags did not deploy
TL* the contact owns a 2012 toyota yaris. While driving 65 mph, the horn failed to sound. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to toyota of santa barbara (5611 hollister ave, goleta, ca 93117) where it was diagnosed that the spiral cable failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
On 7/9/2017 @ 6:45pm while driving on highway 90 the rear bumper panel on my 2012 toyota yaris came unhinged and was flapping causing the right side to also detach. The plastic clips that hold the bumper are not holding! My car IS in grate/excellent condition. It appears to be a poorly assembled and/or designe defect made by the manufacture since I was drive the highway speed limit. I am on vacation headed to south dakota from california and this puts myself, passenger, and other drivers on the highway in danger if it completely detaches!
TL* takata recall. The contact owned a 2012 toyota yaris. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact struck something in the road. As a result, the vehicle drove off the road and crashed into a tree. None of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was totaled and was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was later retrieved by the insurance company. The contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v006000 (air bags). The manufacturer and the dealer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
My passenger side seat manual track has broken. I cannot adjust it forward or backwards. There IS a spring that fell off underneath. I put it back correctly just as it IS supposed to go, but it did not fix the issue. The entire latching mechanism has failed. my 2007 yaris had a recall for this same issue for the driver seat. The chassis for all model year yaris' are the same. I believe the seat mechanisms we're continued to be built with a known issue. My car only has 63,000 miles and this seat IS barely used.
I received a safety recall letter in the mail; the letter stated that there IS an issue with my airbag inflators. I tried contacting a few toyota dealerships, and they made my issue, and more importantly, my safety, seem like it was not their number one priority. They told me that they would have to order new parts but that would take two months. If they received it earlier they said they would give me a call. Several months have gone by, and I haven't received a call. My nearest dealership, bredemann toyota @ (847) 655-1435 has not call me back for 3 months or so. I received this letter back in january, and it IS nearly july. Almost half a year has gone by, and my safety has been at risk every single day. Please contact me at [xxx] or [xxx] as soon as possible. I do not want to risk my life for any longer because of a dealership's carelessness. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
