I still have a 2008 chevy silverado and its been over a year and the recall hasn't been fixed. Why isn't no one doing anything to fix the problem. How I am suppose to fee confident driving my truck especially with the 9 year son in it. I have been a lifelong gm customer, and will hate to be forced to go foreign as many do.takata has not owned up to responsibility and there has been no resolution or compensation. When can someone fix this issue????????????

I was driving straight at around 40mph on a four lane road when I heard a loud bang similar to a gun shot. Smoke filled the cabin and the seat belt locked locked up causing a cut to my neck. I was driving straight at around 40mph on a four lane road when I heard a loud bang similar to a gun shot. Smoke filled the cabin and the seat belt locked locked up causing a cut to my neck. The passengers seat belt also locked up. Fortunately, my wife was sitting in the middle and our two and four year old daughters were in the back in their car seats. I did not hit anything with the truck and we did not go over a speed bump or hit a pot hole. I did not slam the brakes. It was a clear, sunny day and the seat belt pretensioner basically exploded for no apparent reason. Truck IS at beaty chevrolet now where they're saying that its a 2008 and out of warranty and almost $1900 to repair! Shouldn't the manufacturer be responsible for replacing defective safety equipment that could cause serious injury or cause the driver to get in accidents? They said they would have to call the manufacturer on monday to see if they would cover the repair.

- Air bags
Takata recall, I received a notice of the recall in july 2015, it has been over a year and still no update, tried to call the dealer where I bought the vehicle but they have not returned my phone call. How much longer IS this going to take? A year seems to be a little excessive.
- Air bags · Unknown or other
Driver side air bag light has been on for the last 6 years. front dash board plastic got cracked in two places in front of passenger side. many pickups that I have seen have the same problem but no recall has come out, this IS clearly an material design flaw.
- Fuel/propulsion system
Gas smell inside and outside of car. Read recall 12v459000. this included 2007 models in az, ca, NV, fl, and tx. 2008 model only covers az. IS this a loop hole by gm considering a possibility that 2008 models might be more common. I don't see a big difference in 07-08 given same parts were probably used and why only az in a one year manufacturing difference. I know recall confrontation IS not gm's forte.
- Vehicle speed control
While traveling on the expressway at 70mph the reduce engine speed message came on the dashboard and the speed reduced to less than 50mph. at no other time have I received this warning until I was in a speeding position. reducing speed while on an expressway IS dangerous when it IS not in the control of the operator of the car. I believe this should be a recall to all gm vehicles.

I have taken the vehicle to the shop. they suggest replacing egr valve and cleaning the throttle body. $210 total and they are still telling me that it might fix the problem. I have seen hundreds of post but no resolution to the traction control light and ABS light coming on. *tr

Had chevy manager call me to discuss why they replaced throttle due to hesitation in gas when applied to gas pedal. I just had replaced a catalytic converter due to not passing smog. Called local chevy dealer about the throttle causing unnecessary wear of my catalytic converter. He asked why chevy didn't repair catalytic converter at chevy. I called chevy and they said at that time they would have to order it and wouldn't be able to get it in till over the weekend. I went forward with local shop that actually had one. He proceeded to tell me that I was past the 80,000 warranty but would not except that the throttle could have decreased the average life due to throttle replacement chevy indirectly recalled. Sitting that they would replace throttle if I had any problems with it. Yes I have and would like to get a refund for the damage the throttle caused. The case # [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr

Electric door locks don't work on the drivers and rear driver door. Intermittently work on the passenger side. Car IS unsafe for my grandchildren. Would not be able to get the door unlocked in an emergency. *js

I have many things going on. It surges forward when I start it, service air bag light comes on/off. Uses oil and anti-freeze. Back brakes makes noise when I backup, leaks water through the driver door. Uncontrolable on snow. Front tires are wearing on the inside. My traction control seems to be acting up. I bought it with 48,000 miles on it, and it has 53,000 miles on it now. *tr

While driving over the rockies, pulling a 5TH wheel, my engine began to smoke but not heat up. I pulled over, looked under the hood and called for help. the finding was that the fan assembly had come loose, because of a defective or never properly tightened bearing, sending the fan forward, destroying the schroud which then put a huge hole in the radiator, emptying it. I of course needed to be towed. I was told by the dealer that this IS not "uncommon" an yet they have failed to show me any proof or explain how this should ever happen. if it IS indeed common for the fan to loosen on a huge truck, it certainly should be a recall issue. the incident was described as a coolant leak to customer service. this obviously goes way beyond a leak. I was out of warranty and even though they promised to give goodwill on the repairs, did not. customer service at gm IS of no help and just keeps saying that I was out of warranty. I travel many miles alone and keep up with all the regular maintenance on my truck. this IS not a maintenance issue or a warranty issue. it IS clearly a serious issue that gm needs to address. I could have easily been stranded with no cell coverage and a truck that was built for heavy duty work, but had the fan come loose! the repair cost $2100 and I feel that gm should pay for the repair and should also investigate this incident so it does not happen again. when I called various other service dept. They had never heard of this happening. Something IS not right! *tr
