Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2004-2023 AT Series aerial devices. The cables in the engine compartment may contact the vehicle's hood, damaging the cables and causing a short circuit.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A short circuit increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Altec will inspect and relocate the cables and fuse blocks, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 8, 2024. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3142.
Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2005-2021 A65, A70, A75, A72-T, A77-T, and A82-T vehicles. The lower and upper boom raise spools can shift after releasing the joystick or control interlock.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Unintended movement of the lower and upper booms increases the risk of injury.
Remedy
Altec will install a jumper hose and check valve into the boomtip tank lines and replace the overcenter blocking cartridge with an internally referenced drain path, free of charge. Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2003-2019 Altec TA45, TA50, TA55, TA60, L37, L39, LRV, LR7, A-T40C, T40P and AP45 vehicles equipped with air-cushioned pintle hitch and/or accessory air components. Risk
Loss of service brake pressure can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the pressure protection installation and repair any unit that does not pass inspection, free of charge. The recall began August 15, 2019. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 724.
Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 1997-2017 LRV, and LR7 Aerial devices. The platform leveling yoke may fail, possibly causing an occupant to fall from the platform.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Failure of the platform leveling yoke can cause the occupant of the platform to fall out, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy
Altec will notify owners, and will inspect the leveling system to verify the correct alignment, replacing any improperly aligned yokes, free of charge. The recall began on April 11, 2018. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 672.
Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2006-2015 Aerial Devices manufactured from June 1, 2006, through April 1, 2015. The affected aerial devices outrigger interlock control system may not detect proper deployment of the outriggers, allowing for instability of the boom.
Risk and remedy
Risk
If the aerial device is operated while the outrigger is not properly deployed it can cause instability of the boom, increasing the risk of person injury or death.
Remedy
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace the aerial device with a new outrigger interlock module, free of charge. The recall began on September 4, 2015. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-205-991-7733. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 625.
Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 1999-2014 aerial devices models A65, A70, A75, A72-, A/77-T, A82-T, A72-TE88, and A77-TE93 manufactured January 1, 1999, to July 15, 2014. The affected aerial devices may have an improperly set hydraulic pressure transducer which relieves excessive backpressure in the hydraulic tank circuit.
Risk and remedy
Risk
In cooler temperatures, the improperly set hydraulic pressure transducer may result in inadvertent boom movement, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant or those nearby.
Remedy
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace and install a pressure switch, free of charge. The recall began in January 16, 2015. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-205-991-7733. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 609.

Risk
Once electrically conductive, the material is capable of melting and burning, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace any affected battery equalizer, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in September 2014. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 603.
Altec IS recalling certain model year 1997-2009 aerial devices manufactured from june 1997 through july 2009, equipped with a bcm 44B electrical leakage monitoring system. the meter was incorrectly installed and the wiring may come loose; however, the meter could still indicate that it IS working properly.

Failure of the leakage monitoring system can result in the user touching a conductor, unaware that it may be energized and risking electrical shock or electrocution.
Remedy

- 11001160Altec has learned that a 12-volt Airtronics relay installed in the PDM could have been manufactured to an insufficient threshold on certain units built from December 2004 to October 2022. This can cause the relay to overheat and fail, causing the accessory lights to stop working.
- 10235128Altec has learned that the hydraulic ball valve on the hydraulic reservoir return line of certain L42/45 M/P units built from February 2002 to November 2019 might not get returned to the open position after being turned to the closed position for maintenance. If the upper boom drive system is articulated while the ball valve is in the closed position, both upper boom drive cylinders could retract simultaneously causing the lower boom to buckle. The customer should order and install the Hydraulic Shutoff Valve Placard Kit. The kit must be installed by the next preventative maintenance interval, or within 90 days of receipt of this notice, whichever comes first.
- 10222578Product advisory posted on our web site to inform owners, user, & operators that the new ANSI A92.2-2021 standard has taken effect and they must review. The standard has changed some of the responsibilities of the parties who use or operate vehicle mounted aerial devices.
- 10186514Structural cracking has been observed where the primary leveling cylinder mounting pin is welded to the lower boom side plate on LS 40/45/55 aerial devices. Failure of this connection could disable the hydraulic platform leveling system. Altec has developed a kit to reduce the relief pressure of the hydraulic leveling circuit. This will prevent damage to the leveling cylinder mounting pin weld joint by reducing the weld stress. Altec has also developed a kit to repair the lower boom if the side plate has cracked. Altec requires the inspection and repair be completed on the affected units by the next annual preventive maintenance interval or within one year of receipt of the SIL.
- 10186513There may be inadequate weld fusion between the boom extension cylinder rod and rod end on the affected units. This can lead to failure of the weld. Altec has developed a process to have the cylinder rod end attachment repaired by the cylinder manufacturer. Altec requires the repair be completed on the affected units by the next annual preventive maintenance interval or within one year of receipt of the SIL.
- 10175598Product Update Notice 2020B reminded customers that they may be unable to store necessary equipment in the body of the cutaway van without exceeding the rear axle capacity. For customers who are not satisfied with the remaining capacity of your vehicle, the tailshelf mounted generator and roof mounted air conditioning unit can be removed. Altec will provide kits to close the opening in the van roof and modify wiring after the generator is removed. Order the A/C Cover Sealing Service Kit, part number 991064376, and the Generator Plug Service Kit, part number 991063374 by calling 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832).
