Safety record from NHTSA: recalls, owner complaints, investigations and service bulletins.
These records cover every 1995 Cadillac Seville. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
2 recalls name the 1995 Cadillac Seville. Newest first.
Some passenger vehicles equipped with 4.0L V8 engines have a condition in which the nylon tubing used in the fuel rail construction may degrade and crack. additionally, the 1995 model year uses a unique underhood fuel return line that may crack. cracking of the fuel rail or return line tubing can result in a fuel leak into the engine compartment.
Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine fuel rail with a new stainless steel fuel rail. dealers will also install a revised chassis fuel return line. the recall began on june 2, 2004, for 1996-1997 oldsmobile aurora vehicles. owners of 1995 cadillacs and 1996-1997 oldsmobile aurora were sent letters on august 6, 2004. additional letters to owners will be forthcoming. owners should contact oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. inadvertent deployment of the air bags can occur due to water intrusion.
Deployment of the air bag without warning could cause a driver to lose vehicle control increasing the risk of a vehicle crash and personal injury.
Dealers will clean the exterior case of the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm) and appply a potting compound to the sdm case and electrical connector body.
'Takata recall' I was driving my 1995 cadillac seville out of a shop-rite parking lot on september 30TH, 2017 and was involved in a crash. I was driving very slowly as I was approaching a stop sign and route 46 (a busy highway). My airbags deployed inadvertently and I hit the car in front of me. The airbags smashed the windshield. according to nhtsa campaign number 98v115000, 1995 cadillac seville 'passenger vehicles inadvertent deployment of the airbags can occur due to water intrusion.' I then contacted general motors who stated that my particular vehicle was not subject to the recall. They performed an investigation and informed me that they would not assist me with the repairs but refused to give me a reason. according to the nhtsa website: 'frontal airbags are generally designed to deploy in 'moderate/severe' frontal or near-frontal crashes, which are defined as crashes that are equivalent to hitting a solid, fixed barrier at 8-14 mph or higher. (This would be equivalent to striking a parked car of similar size at about 16-28 mph or higher.)' since I was going much slower than 8-14 mph, I believe my car should have been included in this recall and gm IS not taking responsibility. IS there anything you can do to assist me or advise me?

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,600.
TL* the contact owns a 1995 cadillac seville. The contact stated that there was a strong fuel odor emitting from the engine and the service engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under nhtsa campaign number 04v110000 (fuel system, gasoline) but the contact was informed that the recall expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
After driving the car for approximately six months, I began to detect a faint odor of gasoline which seemed to be coming from under the hood. I kept detecting this odor off and on for the next few months. Then one day I was surprised and confused to see my gas gauge moving steadily toward empty as I drove along. I thought the gauge was broken, but it was not. Instead, in about two miles, I had jettisoned an entire tank of gasoline as I drove. The problem turned out to be a ruptured plastic line leading to one of the fuel injectors. Since that time, each of the fuel lines has ruptured one by one every 2 - 10 months for five years. Then I learned there was a recall. I have seen the recall letter which states all 1995 cadillac sevilles have this problem, and mine certainly does. The dealer and gm say my car IS not on the recall list. I have filed a formal complaint with gm and they still refuse to fix my car, stating that my vin# doesn't show up on their list. *Tr

August 23, 2007, on or about 12:00 noon today I was driving my car. 1995 cadillac seville STS northstar with 117,000 miles. My car started to hesitate and wasnt running right. I pulled over and parked. Smoke started to come out of my hood and inside the car. The smoke in the car smelled like something on fire. I called my husband and my son. My son came ( we were about mile from home) and tried to get it home, didnt work. As my son was driving smoke also was coming inside the car. so we stopped and called a tow truck. The driver towed us home. While he was here he was cking my car and looked under it and saw a red amber vibrant glow coming from the catalytic converter and smoke was going into my car. He showed it to me very fast, it looked like a hot heating element in an electric oven. I was scared to death and he immediately told me to shut the car off and get away from it. It looked like the car was ready to blow up! my husband ch'd it later when cool and found within 15 minutes of the car running the same problem. It was in the garage and quickly rolled it out so if it caught fire it wouldnt be in the house, shut off the car and felt around the floor ,center console all hot to the touch. He took a hose to the underside of the car and sprayed the catalytic converter to cool it down, opened up the doors to try and air out the car as it had filled with smoke. we called the tow truck back to take the car to the dealer for service. the service advisor told my husband that he had seen this problem before and that we would need a new catalytic converter that costs around $1,000.00 and would see if he could get it under warranty. The car was no longer under any warranty. My car gave me absolutely no warning or signal of any problem. on august 24, 2007 I reported the problem to gm (file #71-550478818), they told me they would do nothing and report me as dis-satisfied. we had the car repaired and picked it up from the dealer on august 29,2007.

Please contact the national highway traffic safety administration, www.nhtsa.dot.gov sent: sunday, june 17, 2007 10:54 pm tires manufactured by vogue tire /rubber co, mt prospect, illinois ,60056 (800) 323 - 1466/ex. 405. Four vogue/goodyear tires with 9/32nds tread wear/manufactured sometimes after 1998 problem exists with tread wear/dry rot, tire tread splitting. Jim hordan regional vice president & ken goyak, executive vice president advised vogue tires only had a five year life expectancy, and after five years tires manufactured by vogue have no product defect warranty. I disagree with vogue's claim they were obligated to honor a full replacement warranty obligation at any time if a manufacturing flaw discovered in a tire production exposed the consumer population to loss of life or injury. since vogue has refused to honor their warranty obligation I will be replacing the vogue tires I own with another brand tire, nd I would like to arrange for the delivery of the tires I now own to a nhstb local office in the boynton beach area so they could be examined , and have a tread run out test be performed to confirm the opinion of two goodyear tire dealerships that the vogue tires I want to deliver were due to manufacturing problem. Further, if as the vogue tire executives referenced in this e-mail have stated, the e tire should not have remained in service after a five year term, must not this condition be broadcast for all tires that bear the same serial number be so advised of the possibility of tires like mine having a possible manufacturing problem? wait to hear from you as to the appropriate course of action I must follow in havng your agency investigate my complained. thereafter, take appropriate action which would appear to be a tire recall program as your agency deems appropriate. *Ak
Dt*: the contact stated after receipt of recall # 04014 (04v110000) for the fuel rail (fuel system, gasoline: delivery: hoses, lines/piping, and fittings), the manufacturer was contacted to find a service dealer to service the recall. the vehicle was taken to the service dealer where an inspection was made of the fuel rail. the service dealer signed off that the original part was good and did not need replacement. On march 3, 2004, general motors notified odi that it was recalling approximately 94,000 my 1995-97 oldsmobile aurora vehicles equipped with 4.0L V8 engines (rpo L47 - VIN8 c) to address concerns with underhood fuel leakage from cracked fuel rails and, in some of the vehicles, cracked fuel return lines. According to gm, the nylon tubing (PA12) used in the fuel rail construction in these vehicles may degrade and crack.gm's supplier attributed the cracking to the combined effects of heat, time, alcohol fuel, fuel pressure cycling, and design stresses.in addition, gm stated that the my 1995 aurora uses a unique underhood fuel return line that may also crack at unusually high rates.gm dealers will install a new fuel rail constructed out of stainless steel in all of the recalled vehicles and will also install a revised chassis fuel return line in the my 1995 auroras. On april 16, 2004, general motors notified odi that it was adding approximately 389,000 my 1995-97 cadillac seville, deville and eldorado vehicles equipped with 4.6L V8 engines (rpo's LD8 and L37 - VIN8 y and 9) to recall 04v-110.the recalled cadillacs will receive the new stainless steel fuel rails.this engineering analysis IS closed.
The fuel rail assemblies used in the subject vehicles were manufactured by dana.the fuel rail jumper tubes were made of monolayer nylon 12 (pa12).in model year (my) 1998, the jumper tube material was changed from PA12 to m-bond (a multi-layer ptfe/pa12).in addition, all service parts produced since the end of production 1997 use the m-bond jumper tubes. Material analysis performed by dana on failed fuel rails showed that the mono-layer nylon 12 jumper tubes are susceptible to environmental stress cracking (esc).gm believes the esc IS a result of heat, time, alcohol blended fuel, fuel pressure cycling, and designed in stress. Eight of the gm complaints are duplicative of odi complaints.odi has received 77 of it's 123 complaints in the past 12 months.fuel rail part sales over the last three years range from 3.0 percent of production for the my 1997 cadillac vehicles to 13.1 percent for the my 1995 auroras.at least one of the fire incidents occured while the vehicle was parked within a garage attached to the consumers home.the fire resulted in damage to the dwelling as well as the total loss of the vehicle.this investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis.

If a 1995 cadillac interior IS exposed to significant water intrusion, such as from water leaks, a window left open in the rain, or driving through high water up to the carpet level, the supplemental inflatable restraint (sir) system sensing and diagnostic module (sdm) can be damaged.if this occurs, both the driver and passenger air bags can deploy when the ignition switch IS turned on, even if there has been no frontal impact or crash.as a result of these deployments, gm conducted an advisory letter campaign, number 51-01-08 entitled inadvertent deployment of air bags when interior exposed to wet conditions, in february 1996.letters to owners mailed pursuant to this compaign warned owners to not start their engines if the vehicle interior had been exposed to substantial amounts of water.odi has received a total 8 reports of inadvertent air bag deployment in 1995 cadillac vehicles.
