These records cover every 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer 360. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
TL* the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer 360. While driving 30 mph, a strong smell of fuel was noticed inside the vehicle and the service engine soon indicator illuminated. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact mentioned that the vin was not included in nhtsa action number: ea07009 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was over the 150,000 mile warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

I have had problems with the fan clutch and water pump. I've replaced the fan clutch twice and the water pump once. The water pump has gone out again and I still have the roaring and ticking from the fan clutch. *Tr
Transmission cooler lines leaking from corrosion. This sounds like a common problem. IS there a recall? *tr
Driving home parked trailblazer in driveway, went into house and heard a loud "boom" sound, then went outside to see what the sound was and seen smoke coming from under the trailblazer hood, then lifted hood and seen fire and smoke, then ran to get the fire extinguisher to put the fire out, and called the fire department, noticed the transmission dipstick was out about a foot and there was trans fluid all over the under side of hood, motor, and the ground. Fire was put out. thank you *tr
(1) this complaint relates to the front wiper motor on a 2002 chevrolet trailblazer. The partial failure occurs when there IS light to moderate inclement weather (rain, snow, etc.) and the intermittent setting IS used on the front wipers. (2) the wipers on all of the intermittent modes are very weak, and struggle to return to their resting position after the sweep across the windshield. The wipers "chatter" on the way down from their upward position, creating hazardous visual conditions. The wiper motor IS very under powered, and clearly not functioning as it should. The result IS ineffective clearing of water from the windshield on the intermittent setting, which makes driving difficult. (3) gm had a previous recall (nhtsa campaign ID number: 04v046000, gm recall number: 04005) to fix a problem relating to moisture entering the front wiper motor and causing a failure. This recall has been performed on my vehicle, but clearly the recall has not fully remedied the problem. I feel that all front wiper motors should have been replace, not just "inspected" and patched. Damage may have already occurred to the motor due to the fact that the recall was not issued until two years after the vehicle was built/sold. I contacted gm to see if I could get the motor replaced free of cost even though my car was out of warranty, and was told it could not be done. I now must pay for an expensive repair. This IS clearly a safety issue that needs to be addressed by gm at no cost to the owners of the vehicle. *jb
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
During the course of this ea investigation, odi observed that the majority of the complaints (88%) and warranty claims (94%) were reported for vehicles that are registered for use in the salt belt region of the us.this area includes 20 states in the northeast, mid atlantic and the midwest regions and the district of columbia.consumers in the salt belt region reported to odi that they could smell fuel vapors in their vehicles while driving.upon further examination of their vehicles, they discovered that fuel vapors were coming out of the top of the fuel tank. This condition IS caused by corrosion of the return and sender lines of the fuel pump module.water and road salt collect on top of the fuel pump leading to small pinholes appearing on the fuel lines.fuel may leak and collect on top of the module and/or spill onto the ground.the data evaluated under this investigation reflect a relatively low frequency of occurrence that largely arises in salt belt states.gm has extended the warranty on the subject component to ten years or 120,000 miles.further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted at this time; accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.for additional information select document search.
Odi has received reports that the fuel pump module leaks fuel and or vapor underneath the vehicle.gm states, the failure mechanism IS corrosion of the fuel pump module flange which may lead to a fuel leak.corrosion of the fuel pump module flange IS the result of the vehicle operating in a corrosive environment.odi has upgraded this pe to engineering analysis (ea07-009) to further assess this issue.
