On 6/22/24 I made a left turn, stopped to park. I shifted the gear into reverse and heard a loud pop sound then smoke start coming from underneath the driver side of the hood. I put the car into park and lifted the hood, there were flames on the driver side of the car. The fire department was contacted and put the fire out. The car is totaled.
The steering wheel got stiff and hard to turn making turning a struggle. The shifting gears slipped and locked in place. The electronic throttle is is indicating a problem. These are just a problem over some time.

Air bag light stays on at all times and it put fear of safety issue is a wreck is to happen. Driver seatbelt light doesn’t go off, it’s as though when putting the belt on even though it’s latched it isn’t and causes the warning light to stay on.
The driver seat has a part that wears out and causes the power seat to move forward and backward on its slide track. eventually the part will fail and the seat will slide right into the steering wheel which will impact the drivers chest. The power seat has two acme threaded rods that drive the seat rails forward/ backwards to allow driver to adjust the seat. the acme rods drive a custom screw block to allow the motion. when in static position only the screw block holds the seat and stops it from moving forward and backward. from what i can observe the acme rod is case hardened but the screw block is not. the screw block seems to wear out prematurely after four years. if left unaddressed the screw block could fail completely and allow the seat and passenger to hit the steering wheel while braking or in a front end collisdion.

Takata recall-my electronic throttle and throttle petal IS not working. It stopped working on monday as I was driving home. As I was driving home coming down glenwood avenue in raleigh. All of a sudden, I was not able to give gas to the car and the car slowed down almost causing an accident since we were driving at a certain speed. I had to get in the right lane and coast to the light and turned the corner to park the car to find out what was going on. I had to get my brother to drive behind me as I coast home not able to give the car gas because it was not working. My car IS currently at the mechanic around the corner from my home and a diagnostic has been done on the car and I was told that I needed an electronic throttle and a throttle petal replaced. I keep everything on my car care up to date. I seen a recall on my vehicle for the electrical system but was told that that information IS incorrect for my car. I need an investigation down on this since this IS an electrical issue. Please get back with my with this information. I was able to take a picture of the error message that came up on the dashboard.

The vehicle will still drive forward and backward but will not shift gears at all. losses acceleration every so often then harsely goes back into gear while in motion.
