On certain motor homes built on workhorse chassis and equipped with general motors 8.1L V8 engines, improper hardening during the heat treatment process can cause the fuel rail pulse damper retainer clip to fracture, resulting in inadequate retention of the damper. This IS our second complaint on this problem first one was early october 2009 and the odi ID# IS 10287151 for the first complaint. we had total brake failure on our fleetwood bounder yesterday 11/29/09 that has a break recall on it and workhorse chasis refuses to fix. the brakes failed, brake pedal went to the floor, alarm sounded, ABS light came on and also light stating "brake failure,. fortunately we were not going very fast and there was an area we could pull over after gearing down. we called workhorse chasis this morning and was told to "drive carefully" to your dealer and we are now at the dealer and we are being told that workhorse IS refusing to pay for our brakes unless they are completely "burned up". this IS the second attempt to get workhorse and the dealer to honor this recall last time we had to pay to have the brakes inspected which was early october 2009. *Tr
Bad brake noise in front wheels. Brakes smoke after very short trips downhill. Had dealer pull all wheels said things looked fine. On the way home, lost some pedal, but came back. Smoked brakes again. Let cool for 2 hrs and eased on home. Need to pull wheels again and check. Want to cross the country in nov. And now don't know what to do. Workhorse said they can't fix anything until it frays. *Tr
The hitch that IS factory installed broke away from the rv due to it not being properly welded to the frame. Our jeep broke completely away from the rv while we were driving the vehicle. We had a certified welder repair the rv and we also have pictures of the defective weld. We have attempted to work this out with fleetwood since the incident, but they keep giving us the runaround. They say the welder was a subcontactor for the factory and they will need to contact them. This was last year and they still will not return our calls. *Tr
Dt*: the contact stated while turning the vehicle to be parked, there was a popping noise heard coming from under the floor of the vehicle on the front left. this noise was accompanied by a slight vibration in the steering column. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer where they repaired the tie rod bushing and repaired the wheel bearing on the left front wheel. updated 10/18/2006 - *nm

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
This investigation was opened based on odi's receipt of a congressional letter on behalf of a constituent.the constituent reported incidents where the slide out room of his motor home would inadvertently move (extend) during highway use.odi was concerned that a fully extended slide out would degrade the vehicle's dynamic handling characteristics and/or possibly impact an object or another vehicle, resulting in a crash.odi contacted fleetwood and discovered that slide out rooms were installed in motor homes, travel trailers and folding trailers. As part of the investigation odi visited a rv show and the fleetwood paxinos plant to examine slide outs in various new make and model vehicles and gain an understanding of how the systems work.during the investigation odi learned that there are two methods used to extend slide out rooms.some manufacturers use hydraulic systems and others, such as fleetwood, use an electric motor.
