In addition, the electronic brake control module (ebcm) has just failed; if a brake fluid leak occurs, there will be no warning or indication presented by the vehicle and the vehicle may not be able to stop. Yesterday I started my vehicle and turned on the a/c. the a/c blower was blowing at the highest setting regardless of the control setting. I turned the a/c off and the blower remained on. I turned the ignition off and the blower continued to run. the blower continued to run for approximately 8 minutes while my husband researched online how to get it to stop. the blower did not stop running until my husband removed the fuse. if my husband would not have been with me the blower would have continuously ran, causing it to overheat, and possibly causing a fire. also, we have digital gear lights on our dash. those lights started periodically dimming several years ago and have since gone out completely, other than the seldom random occasion, so we can no longer read what gear the vehicle IS in. we took the vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased and asked what the cause was and how to repair it. we were told the complete instrument control panel cluster would need to be replaced at the cost of $350 for the panel alone. after doing some research of my own, I have come to find out this seems to be a very common problem. not knowing what gear you are in IS definitely a safety issue that needs to be handled by gm. *tr

This basic incident has occurred approximately ten times. The 4WD control module malfunctions at random. The vehicle message center will display "service 4WD," and a clicking sound can be heard as the lights on the transfer case control panel switch on and off, switching the vehicle in and out of gear. Several times this has happened in such a way that the truck shifted into 4LO at moderate speed. Once, the vehicle stalled in an intersection with the abrupt shift. I am convinced that this IS a systematic issue with gm 4WD trucks, but it IS in no way being addressed. It IS an extreme safety hazard when a 5400 lb. Vehicle suddenly shifts into low range or neutral without advance warning. A simple internet search shows that this has happened to many other gm vehicle owners. The only remedy seems to be removing the relay to cut power to the module, thus rendering this "mighty" 4X4 a 2WD sled. This IS a safety hazard of the highest order! I cannot say enough negative things about the electrical system of this vehicle in particular and the build quality in general. It destroys tires, it IS a pleasant surprise when something works as it should, and I had to replace the "heavy duty" transmission at 120K when the power bands catastrophically failed. For shame, general motors! I will never again purchase another of your shoddy vehicles. *tr

A friend of mine just showed me a letter he got in the mail that IS a recall to fix the reduced engine power code that shows a throttle body needs repaired.. The letter says to bring his vehicle in if it IS a gm or chevy model less than 10 years old and less than 150000 miles and they will fix it for free. I contacted gm to see if my GMC was on the list and they told me to take it to a dealer and have a diagnostic done. I have already had one done and the codes keep changing, and from what I have read the gm site and other forums gm does not know what the problem and will not recall it unless they have to, my brother IS also a mechanic and had it looked over by our college mechanic shop.still no relief, I am not willing to spend $5000 and it still not fixed.. So I guess since something like it IS recalled and I get into an accident because it reduces power on the interstate doing 75mpg, ill can to take legal action? I can't drive it half the time because of the problem. In the summer it starts with reduced power because its 90 degrees outside. *tr

During acceleration and occasionally during braking, the wheel sensor(s) cause the traction control to become active, or cause the anti-lock brakes to engage. In all cases, activation IS in error based on ambient conditions. I am able to override the traction active problems by disabling the traction assist, but the anti-lock brakes are not controlled by the same switch. I have searched the internet and found numerous examples of the same failure with this type of vehicle, but no recall exists yet for this particular year and model. to date, the failure has not caused a crash, but now that winter IS here I have to make repairs because disengaging the traction assist IS not practical in snowy conditions. my mechanic advised me that it requires changing the full front wheel bearing assembly because of corrosion buildup on the tone ring. He also told me that he did change a sensor on a similar vehicle but the sensor did not solve the problem. The wheel bearing will cost several hundred dollars to replace. with the apparently common nature of this problem, and a listed recall in canada for the same problem, I believe gm IS ignoring a very serious safety problem. When you pull into traffic and the vehicle essentially stalls, you may get rear-ended, which almost happened to me a few weeks ago. However, my greater concern IS not being able to stop. another website said that tires could be the problem. All of my tires are the same size and wear, and air pressure matches. The problem IS with the vehicle, not related to tire differences.

Hello around the beginning of june of 2011 I was driving my 2005 GMC yukon XL when suddenly I received an error message on my dash board stating "reduce engine power" automatically my speed went down. I pulled over to the side and did a diagnostic check with onstar, they informed me that the engine suddenly was reducing speed and the best thing to do was take it in to get checked at. On monday, june 6TH I took it in to bob brown dealer in merle hay in des moines, ia, I spoke to bob lundy and informed him of the problem I was having, he informed me they had to do some diagnostic check again, I left my vehicle there and got a ride to work from them. In the pm I received a phone call from bob stating that all it was just a sensor so they would have to replace it I informed him that was fine as long as everything would be fixed. They charged me $457.02, about a week later the engine light came back on and reduce engine power kicked in again, I called bob lundy at the GMC dealer and he stated that the sensor might have gone bad again. I waited about 2 weeks and took it in again and this time they cannot figure out what IS going on with my truck, I even left it there overnight and all they can tell me IS that they cannot figure the problem out. I am out $452 dollars and the reduce engine power acts up almost everyday! I have to keep pulling over in the interstate, street, or anywhere I am at in order to turn my vehicle off for 5 minutes and start it over for that error message to go away and for me to be able to drive my vehicle appropriately, otherwise the engine power IS not working and I can only drive it up to 20 mph. Sometimes even when I restart my vehicle the message IS still there and I have to wait and loose more time. This IS affecting my everyday life, I have been late to meetings, work, to pick up my daughter. I want this fixed please! Bob brown dealer stated they don't know what the problem IS with my vehicle, I think they just don't know how to fix it!!! *tr

When driving the speedometer needle will only go up. it will not come back down. So every time you stop it will add to your speed. I was doing 50mph and it said I was doing 120mph. It finally pegged at the highest speed it would go and would not move. I had it fixed at the dealership, which cost me $600. I found out there was a class action lawsuit about this. I filled out my claim form and was told by GMC that it was only a recall on certain vin numbers for my 2005. That mine was not included for the refund. And that I had the new version of the speedometer that was fixed. Obviously, the new one they used didn't work either because I had the exact same problem as the 2003-2004 models. *Tr

Upon coming off a road trip in my SUV, I was at my sister's house and had parked my vehicle in the drive with the tires turned out. as I was coming out of her house I noticed that the inside tread/ belt on my tires was smooth, but with uneven wear on the tire. So I checked the other front tire and it had the same type of wear on it (inside tread). the back tires are beginning to show signs of wear in the same manner. I took my vehicle to the dealership from which I purchased my vehicle and told them that I felt that the second set of tires that the dealership put on my SUV were defective also. the first set of tires were changed out, approximately one and a half years ago, because of being defective bridgestone tires (they were still under warranty, but the change was not noted in my service history report or on my carfax report). all other minor service work was noted in history/carfax reports, so why wasn't the change in tires noted also. The service manager told be it was normal wear, or a problem with the shocks, but because the vehicle had over 36,000 miles (out of warranty) he could not do anything, to take them to the firestone company (manufacturer), so I did. the man at the firestone company said that it was a maintenance problem, that I didn't rotate the tires (but I did/ service history report). so I took my SUV to a reputable tire company. The technician said that it was the tires, they were cupping on the inside. my tires are firestone wilderness LE (raised white letter) tires. My front end was checked by computer they were off by -.2 on right & -.1 on left. not off enough for the tires to wear as they did. the shocks are not bouncy. I cannot get any answers on the cause of my tires wearing in this manner. I feel that the tires are defective, but no one wants to take responsibility. So I would like to file a complaint. if I am wrong I will take responsibility for being so. *Tr

While driving the speedometer will stop descending at a speed and when the driver accelerates, the needle will respond as though the sticking point were the speed of deceleration and continue rising from there until the needle IS over past the last listed speed on the face of the ipc. it occurs about once every two weeks and when it occurs it IS impossible to know what the speed of the vehicle IS. so far, it IS possible to correct the problem by letting the vehicle sit, sometimes overnight IS necessary, and start the vehicle and then shut it off. this drops the speedometer needle about 5MPH. the driver must continue to do this until the needle has gone from the black face of the ipc to the zero mark on the panel. *Tr

Yes and no. you see this IS my fourth new car and sixth all together. in the past I've had stones hit my windshield but no cracks. have I been lucky or IS it something else. After a while I starting seeing other yukons, escalades and suburbans with multiple cracks and craters and asked the owners questions. they all seemed to be ok with it but I'm not.
