  Harley-Davidson Motor Company (Harley-Davidson) is recalling certain model year 2015 Tri-Glide FLHTCUTG motorcycles manufactured July 14, 2014, to October 15, 2014. The affected motorcycles have a rear brake master cylinder assembled with an incorrect piston. This piston may not provide the proper support and may allow a tear in the primary cup.

  Risk and remedy

  Risk

  If the primary cup develops a tear it will decrease the brake performance, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

  Remedy

  Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear master cylinder, free of charge. The recall began December 16, 2014. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 414-343-4056. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0162.

  The contact owns a 2015 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUTG Tri Glide Ultra Classic. The contact stated while riding 70 MPH, the check engine and coolant temperature warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over to allow the motorcycle to cool down. The motorcycle cooled down and operated normal; however, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice. The motorcycle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the water pump was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was contacted and stated that they were made aware about the water pump failure and that there was no recall regarding the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 23,605.

  First incident 2015, log in est 100 miles, mc started smoking. Dealership checked out no problems. second incident engine lost power down to 35mph could not go higher, dealership fixed put new clutch no charge. The third time, it repeated lost power again smoke & burning inside engine area the…

  First incident 2015, log in est 100 miles, mc started smoking. Dealership checked out no problems. second incident engine lost power down to 35mph could not go higher, dealership fixed put new clutch no charge. The third time, it repeated lost power again smoke & burning inside engine area the clutch was out had to be towed. this third time the dealership refused to fix, I had only 2100 miles log and charged me $500. The general manager took me on a road test to check my shifting. His conclusion was a defected clutch problem which they fixed . But they did not refund me. I now have 5,000 miles on my mc without any problems so far so it was a defaulted clutch problem on a brand new bike which should have been covered under the recall.

• 10155120SERVICE BULLETIN M1359: 2014 - 2016 TOURING - HYDRAULIC CLUTCH LINE REPLACEMENT. PURPOSE: REVISION. A leak may occur on some Touring, CVO Touring, Police Touring and Trike models equipped with hydraulic clutch. The leak may occur when the line is replaced or when a P&A clutch line is installed. The area of the leak is at the joint where the clutch line attaches to the secondary clutch actuator (right side of the transmission). Required Dealer Action: Use Snap-on Flare Nut Socket (Part No. GAN85087B) and Snap-on Torque Wrench (Part No. QJR117F or similar) to tighten flare nut. Each time clutch line is installed or torque is adjusted to determine if leak is still present, bleed the clutch system.
• 10139399TECH ARTICLE TA0023: TA0023: Crankshaft Rod Bearing. Purpose: Technicians have been falsely identifying connecting rod bearings as failed due to a perception of resistance as the rods are rotated. The clearance of the Twin Cam and Milwaukee-Eight crank pin bearings are maintained to a very tight range. This optimizes performance and maintains low mechanical noise in operation. The connecting rod bore can also distort slightly in operation due to stress relaxation. As a result, bearing clearance decreases due to the contact zone broadening and the load being distributed over more rollers. The combination of a bore being slightly out of round and reduced bearing clearance can result in varying degrees of resistance through the range of motion. Axial clearance is also tightly controlled for proper alignment. For these reasons, zones of resistance can be found when the connecting rods are rotated by hand through their range of motion. Resistance during rod motion, by itself, is not an indication of a performance or durability concern.
