Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are BOL, WO9, OOA, WOM, XOH, NOC, POD, BOE, UOF, POB, EOG, AOI, QO8, TOJ, DO7, and SOK. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 24V064. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 29, 2026.

Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

On three different occasions earlier this year 2025, my car electric system would completely shut down. My safety was put at risk because this would often happen while I was driving. After three different diagnoses at two different dealerships, the San Francisco dealership found that there was a fuse shortage and it was an electrical problem. They were able to fix it and I paid out of pocket. Now, in July 2025, I was again on the road driving when I get an error message on the dash: emission system, problem, and cooling system problem. I was not able to accelerate my car. Again my safety was at risk. I had to stop on the street, turned off my car, and when I tried turning it back on, the engine would not start, but the electric system was fine. My car is a 2017 hybrid Honda Accord – it is way too new to be having all of these issues. I always take my car for maintenance regularly and my car is in good condition.

The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there were no electrical failures with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the cruise control was inoperable. The manufacturer was informed of the failure; however, after a request for additional information from the manufacturer, the contact was never called back. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

During particularly hot days when you first start the car the audio system suddenly lets out an extremely loud static noise that does not go away, even if you turn down the volume to zero, or turn off the system completely. It is very jarring and a dangerous distraction while driving. It has not been seen by a dealer, but online testimonies show they only opt to replace the unit out of the consumer's pocket. No warning messages pop up.

Clarion Radio head, Honda part 39101-T3W-A71. Radio is removed from car at this point and may be inspected, awaiting service. Speakers produce full volume static, especially correlated to a hot day. Static is unavoidable, occurs whether or not system is powered on or off. Source input also does not matter. Restarting car also does not fix issue. Safety is at risk by causing hearing loss and distracted/inattentive driving. Car is not drivable as long as this full volume static is occurring. Honda surely knows about this issue, there are wide reports of this issue on you tube and online discussion boards.

We are writing to bring to your attention a concerning issue with our 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid EX-L, which we purchased from the SF Honda dealership. Over the past few weeks, we’ve experienced a loud static noise coming from the audio unit — even when the audio is turned off. The only way to stop the noise is to put the car in park, turn it off, and restart it. Unfortunately, this solution is inconsistent, as the noise sometimes persists even after restarting. The sound is deafening and extremely distracting, which raises serious safety concerns for us. This is not just an inconvenience — it’s a significant hazard while driving. After researching the issue online, we discovered that this appears to be a known problem among Honda owners. Here is a video that reflects exactly what we’re experiencing: [XXX] . Given the safety implications, we are very concerned and would appreciate your assistance in looking into this safety issue. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery, the emission system, the throttle body needed to be replaced, and coolant needed to be added. The car emits a very loud noise through the speakers. This is NOT a radio issue. The noise cannot be stopped by turning off the radio. The noise is extremely loud, so loud you cannot hear police or fire sirens, anyone honking or even someone trying to get your attention from outside the vehicle. This is a known problem to Honda, but the company considers it a problem with the stereo system and not a danger. Let me tell you, it IS a danger. Imagine not being able to hear Emergency Alerts while driving toward a tornado or powerful storm. Or not being able to hear a police or ambulance siren due to the noise coming through the speakers. Again, the stereo system is off, there is no phone connected to the system but the loud static persists until you turn the car off. It then comes back after a minute or two of driving. Honda North American requested I have a diagnostic done at the dealership to confirm the issue with the Head Unit. That costs 200 dollars, but I did it, even though there are multiple complaints online and with the company on this same issue. The dealer replicated the issue. There are no warnings about the problem until the sound overwhelms the driver. It takes about a minute to begin and WILL NOT STOP. I can provide video upon request.

No warning lights were on at all, I just had the car tuned up and it was in good working condition! Air bags not deploying could be a Hugh issue for Honda in the future! This is a dangerous problem and I expect Honda to have a major recall some day, unfortunately not today. Symptoms were two things, 1) ACC when on would not slow down with another car in front, it just kept accelerating into the car until I put on the brakes. Crazy dangerous. 2) The collision warning light would come on and beep loudly when there was no possibility of collision. Required replacing the radar unit, $5000 at the dealer. Dealer tech said that this unit is connected to every control system, brakes, steering, etc. Very dangerous to drive without a correctly functioning radar. If I could, I would just turn those features off, but there is no way to do that. Besides, I like those features. Car is 5 years old; my last payment is in August!

As I was driving straight about 40 Mph, the steering assist failure warning, lane assist failure warning, and power steering failure warnings all came on at the same time. Had I been going around a curve or turning I would've crashed, because the steering locked up and it was extremely difficult to steer. The failures and electronic warnings cleared as I was driving the car to the dealer the following morning.

The brakes failed while driving. while driving as a slow speed (fortunately) I applied the brakes and all the dash faults came on and the braked failed to work. I had to use the e-brake to stop. I turned the car off, back on, the faults cleared and the brakes work. this could become a deadly crash if it occurs at high speed and the need to stop abruptly happens.

It was replaced at honda dealership under warranty. The door lock failed again about a year later. The front passenger door lock and rear driver door lock failed thereafter. All three have been replaced. Now driver door lock has failed necessitating a replacement. Additionally, trunk lock has failed which needed to also be replaced.

I just recently approached a vehicle on a poorly lit roadway that did not have any tail lamps activated. this seems to be a built in danger with the new vehicles.

I was driving about 40/45 mph in highway and all in sudden I saw a message in the dashboard IS saying " break system problem" "lane departure system problem ", "automatic cruise control system problem" and "collusion migration system problem". I thought its maybe something that gonna go away after restarting the car. But it didn't. I went to the garage to see what IS the problem then check on the machine and its showing error code: p258364 millimeter wave radar aiming error. And it does not clear. The problem still in the car.

Automatic braking system brought the car to full stop as I was accelerating when a light changed from red to green. there was no risk of hitting anything in front of the car. speed was about 10-15 mph when the car put on the brakes. I was almost rear-ended by the car behind me. the car would not give control to the accelerator for several seconds. my foot was off the brake. in addition, the automatic braking system often gives false positives such as when driving at normal speed (30-50 mph) on a 2-lane road (one lane each direction, yellow solid lines separating the traffic) and the road curves and an on-coming vehicle IS correctly and safely in their own lane.

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.

The saltwater is able to enter the motor due to small gaps in the motor cover that result from issues in the manufacturing process. If the brake tandem motor cylinder enters into failsafe mode, instrument panel indicators will come on to alert the driver and there will be an increase in brake pedal travel during braking.
