The accident occurred at the intersection of [XXX]. On XXX 2026 at 2:32 pm I was involved in an accident where I was T-Boned on the drivers side impacting my drivers side front fender, drivers door and drivers side grill. I was given a green light when I entered out on to [XXX] from [XXX].The other driver in a silver VW 4door hatchback going East on [XXX]. I was dong about 10 mph when the primary impact was the drivers side front fender and grill. The impact lifted my car in the air and pushed it over several feet. No airbag deployment whatsoever. I had back, neck, arm leg and seatbelt injures for pelvis to and including left arm. I was taken from my car to the via ambulance to the hospital. My car was totaled due to severe damage. My car was not involved in NHTSA recall 26V254000 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Suspect faulty TCU or associated software: My 2026 Tucson Hybrid, purchased in February, has an intermittent “Shift-by-Wire (SBW)” fault where the car refuses to shift into gear (e.g., Reverse) and displays “The car is already in the desired gear” warning on dashboard and the Check Engine light comes On. Retrying (turn car off, wait a while and restart) generally resolves the immediate issue and the Check Engine light turns Off. However, I don’t feel safe driving the car until a definitive warranty repair can be done. So, I had it towed to the dealer. The dealer showed me screen shots of their initial scan indicating No DTC codes were found, that they could not duplicate the problem, and I could pick the car up. If the Check Engine light came on there should be a DTC code stored in non-volatile memory, right? I asked the dealer to keep the car and have a technician drive it until they duplicate and fix the problem. They agreed but I have evidence that indicates the car is not being driven. I filed a formal consumer complaint with Hyundai Corporate Customer Care and received a Case Number (43328121) but no other communication in the weeks since.
The "Consider Taking a Break" alert and chime comes up randomly and is a driving distraction. There is no way to turn off the alert. I feel this is a safety issue since it causes a distraction.
Back up camera intermittently doesn’t work. Car can have sat in driveway or been driven, either one, and the cameras will randomly not work and then work again for no apparent reason. Green screen saying that camera not available now and check again later, or words to that effect. This is not one incident, has happened many times. Each time I've tried to take it to the dealer it works when I'm there so they can't troubleshoot it. I consider this a major safety issue that needs an official recall and fix from hyundai
No signal to driver cluster/ panel
Safety of anyone, including a service dog in the car, is at risk from accident. 10-01-2026 5:30 am accident. -I was Struck on drivers side (t-bone) both driverside doors, -NO airbag or seatbelt tensioning. - Whole body slammed up against driver's door, INJURIES-spinal, left leg (required a leg brash to stabilize), head injury - Car executing dtc B1413 safty airbag alerts since day purchased (pages of them) had to constantly fight lane keeping steering me over lane markings shut off on steering wheel blue link helped me shut it down completely. In settings- manufacturer has not inspected. I've tried two escalated complaints. - there's a red airbag indicator in the cabin. Above that says airbag off, it goes on and off on its own. Filed to complaints with manufacturer last complaint. Prior to accident is complaint number 43328081
On approximately XXX, while traveling on [XXX], the vehicle's automatic emergency braking system engaged abruptly and without warning. The vehicle ahead had stopped with sufficient distance for a normal, controlled stop. Despite this, the automatic braking system activated suddenly on the 45-mph roadway, causing my left arm to jam and my head to jolt forward. Within the following week, two additional incidents of similar abrupt automatic braking occurred. Recall Discovery I subsequently researched the vehicle online and discovered an active recall for sensitive braking on this year, make, and model. The recall number may be researched and verified via the vehicle VIN number provided above. I was never notified of this recall by either the manufacturer or Element Fleet Management. I have since taken the vehicle in for resolution of the recall, and the problem has not recurred. Injury and Medical Treatment In the days following the initial incident, I began experiencing shoulder, neck, and back pain. I sought chiropractic care for approximately six weeks. As symptoms persisted, I consulted an orthopedic specialist and was diagnosed with whiplash. My symptoms have not fully resolved. I continue to experience constant pain, restricted mobility, lifting limitations, and impaired sleep. I have had 2 sets of X-rays as well as an MRI and have also been diagnosed with a Labral tear resulting in frozen shoulder and prescribed physical therapy. Vehicle sounds an alarm and flashes message "Consider taking a break" every 5-10 minutes at freeway speeds, regardless of driving patterns. It distracts from attention to traffic or any real problems the vehicle may have.
Digital cluster going blank, no signal
While the motor vehicle is in drive, the digital cluster will randomly reboot causing the digital cluster screen to go blank. Sometimes it will reboot and “no signal” will appear and I would lose my information on speedometer /side view cameras, and other important information for me to drive safely on the road.
While traveling the following have happened multiple times. It has already been serviced by the dealership who corrected all pending recalls and then informed me they could not replicate the problem. It has now happened since the vehicle was returned to me. This morning while driving at freeway speeds. Multiple times Total HUD Failure: The Heads-Up Display (HUD) completely cuts power and turns off. Dashboard Cascade: The digital instrument cluster momentarily flashes almost every critical warning light simultaneously (including Brake, EPS, Charging, and Lane-Keep systems) before clearing itself. Powertrain Integrity: The engine and hybrid powertrain continue to run smoothly with no loss of propulsion or mechanical stuttering when the event occurs.
Driver alert system frequently comes on with blinking lights and on several occasions has slowed the vehicle while on cruise control even though both hands were on steering wheel. It appears that system is overly sensitive to glare from the sun. Hyundai should issue either a recall or software fix.
My instrument cluster goes completely blank while driving the vehicle. It will also have every light come on when it does come back on all of the check engine lights, and every other diagnosis light comes on. It continues to do this while driving. I have already had the safety recall done and it is still failing.
I am reporting a safety concern involving the rear turn signals on my Hyundai Tucson 2026. When the turn signal is activated, the signal is difficult to see from a vehicle that is very close behind the Tucson, particularly when the following vehicle is positioned directly behind or at certain angles. The location and/or visibility of the rear turn signal may make it difficult for a following driver to recognize that the Tucson is signaling a lane change or turn. I believe this presents a potential safety concern because a driver following closely may not receive a sufficiently clear visual indication of the vehicle's intended maneuver. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether the rear turn-signal design and visibility on this vehicle presents a safety-related defect and whether similar complaints have been reported for this model. I can provide additional information, photographs, videos, or details about the circumstances in which I observed the visibility problem if needed.
My cameras (front and back) show blue or green signal error screens intermittently. Dealer was not able to replicate, so basically told me to bring it back when it happens all the time. Google search told me that this is a widespread problem, some dealer somewhere must have been able to replicate the issue. Unable to use cameras to monitor for traffic and/or pedestrians. A few examples of when this has happened this morning: Backing out of my driveway, rear camera working, go to drive, front camera green screen. Parallel parking, rear and front cameras not working. Pulling into parking space, front goes to green screen about half way. Backing out of parking space, green screen.
Reverse and front cameras are not functioning. When put in reverse, no camera view is shown and when put back in drive, no camera is shown. Also, no cameras work for parking assistance. Screen says "No Camera Signal". This is occurring every time I put it in reverse or park. Car has 750 miles on it and is 3 weeks old.
See attached document for complaint.
I was driving during daylight and the dashboard display became barely visible, and then alternated between visible and barely visible several times. if it were nighttime the display would be unreadable and I wouldn't be able to see my speed or other important indicators which would put me and other drivers at risk.
Twice within 3 days the car drove when was in electronic park. FIRST August 1 2026 instance got in car parked in a lot. Started it (foot on brake, push start). Spent ≈ 15 min checking iPad. When car in front of me backed out of parking space, car dinged, lit up that car in front is leaving like it we were at a stop sign. Then started to move forward. I quickly braked. I may have touched the brake while sitting but never touched the shift. • SECOND instance August 3 2026 driving (MY Mode) with Smart Cruise and Lane Assist. Parked in daughter’s driveway. Foot on brake. Absolutely pushed Electronic P for park. It was my intention to leave car on for AC while dropping a bag on their porch. I did touch brake again while gathering things to get out - but did not touch shift. While I was turned sideways it drove forward into the garage door. No the foot was not on accelerator. It was on floor as I was leaning over. For reference, a few weeks ago the front camera’s sudden stop recall was done.
While driving on the turnpike, the driver seat moved backward. Both of my hadds were on the steeeringwheel during the entire time. The seat motor was clearly engaged in moving the seat. There was no coat, cloth, or any obstruction near the seat control switch. I tried to move the seat up, however the seat would not move up or back. About 20 minutes later I was able to move the seat forward with the switch. Then about 3O minutes later while traveling accross a large bridge, again the seat moved back on its's own with the seat motor clearly engaged. Both times this was very scarry and since I am not tall I had to reach forward to keep my arms on the stering whell and the gas and brake pedals. Since this is clearly a safety matter I imediately contacted the dealer where the car was purchased. They told me to bring the car in. However they then called me saying that since they could not reproduce the problem I should pick up he car. I am very scared to drive this car. Chatgbt reports other owners have repoted the same problems, but they apperar to be relativly uncommon,
I was traveling on the highway at approximately 75 mph, in TX with my wife, mother in law, and my two pets when the emergency breaking system triggered suddenly. There were no cars or obstacles in front of me. But there was a long line of vehicles, including 18 wheelers right behind me. The vehicle went from about 75 mph to about 55 in less than a second or so it seemed. This was terrifying for everyone. I pulled up to a gas station and restarted the vehicle and it seemed to go back to normal. I got back on the highway, still shaken, and at about 15 or 20 minutes later, the main screen blacked out for about 2 seconds. Then, I was doing about 70, and again the automatic breaking system suddenly slammed, almost causing an accident. The car prompted me to contact Hyundai blue link and as I got off the highway, the vehicle started to loose power until it totally died; leaving stranded in the middle of nowhere with my family and pets under the extreme Texas heat. This horrific, traumatizing experience, has led me to decide to stay as far away from these vehicles. These vehicles are dangerous, a death trap, and I feel lucky to be alive after these incidents.
I purchased my vehicle from Ideal Hyundai on 04/23/26. On 06/22/26 (less than 2 months later), I was driving to work and the car started to lose power. The display said to check hybrid system and stop safely. After 10 minutes, I was able to drive the car 3 more miles to work. I took it to Ideal Hyundai the next day. I got the car back on 06/26/26 after they said they address the issue and the open recall. Two weeks later, on 07/23/26 I was driving home on a busy highway when the car began to lose power again. We were able to get to the side of the road but were still in a dangerous position. Within minutes, the car's power went out and fuel drained from the car. We used Hyundai Roadside Assistance and they towed it to the nearest Hyundai dealer (Antwerpen). They told me the next day that the car had serious issues and another recall. They said they'd repair it by the end of the week. I also had called the Hyundai corporate office on 07/13/26. They said someone would get back to me in 2-3 business days. They have not done so yet. When I called yesterday, they said someone will get back to me tomorrow (9 business days after my initial call). No one from Antwerpen is answering the phone. I just got a text from them on 07/17/26 saying the car would be ready on 07/20/26 (it's not ready). Because the car lost power in the middle of a busy highway and has lost power twice in less than a month, I am afraid to drive it and believe it has issues that make it unsafe.
The vehicle was taken to the dealership for Recall 304 (NHTSA Campaign 26V400), which was supposed to fix an instrument panel/heads-up display (HUD) communication loop crash. However, the software update merely isolated the crash so that only the HUD goes black and reboots while driving. The underlying signal drop or hardware defect is still actively occurring. The issue may appear to be a loose physical connection or faulty wiring harness, as the HUD loss may be triggered after hitting a bump or uneven road surface, though it remains intermittent. The driver's safety is compromised due to sudden, unpredictable driver distraction. Vital safety information, including vehicle speed, blind-spot monitoring alerts, and forward collision warnings, is instantly lost. The vehicle was returned to the dealership, but technicians stated they "did not find anything on their test drives (<15miles)" because the hardware dropout is intermittent. The vehicle was inspected and worked on by an authorized Hyundai dealership service center for the initial recall but they failed to diagnose the persistent post-recall failure.
Date: Sunday, XXX at approximately 10:30 AM Location: LAZ Parking Garage, [XXX] Details: While exiting the parking garage at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly engaged automatic braking, causing the vehicle to make contact with a yellow pole in the garage. As a result of the impact, the front fender and bumper sustained damage. There was one occupant in the vehicle (myself), and I was wearing my seatbelt at the time of the incident. My 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid has lost drive/propulsion three times at freeway speed within the first month of ownership. The loss of power is sudden, and the vehicle does not re-engage drive for approximately 15–20 seconds. On July 5, 2026, at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle lost propulsion entirely and went limp in live freeway traffic, forcing me to coast off the freeway. Drive was only restored by shutting the engine off and restarting it. Two earlier occurrences happened on July 5, 2026 (earlier in the same drive) and on June 14, 2026. The vehicle is currently at the dealer service department; no fault codes were found and the technician could not reproduce the condition. This is an intermittent but repeatable loss of vehicle control at highway speed and I consider it a serious safety hazard with crash potential. Hyundai Consumer Affairs case #xxxxxxx is open on this vehicle.
