As captured in images uploaded herein, the subject Infinit QX80's advanced safety system suite malfunctioned completely and without warning at 948 miles. The vehicle dash captures the numerous systems that simultaneously fail including: collision avoidance, steering assistance, lane assistance, blind spot monitoring - and all systems that rely on the advanced camera suite. Importantly, the first failure happened at highway speed without warning and resulted in the steering assist failing on a banked curve and directly placed a family of six within inches of a high-speed collision with an 18-wheeler. This same, intermittent recuring malfunction has happened TEN additonal times including and after SEVEN authorized dealership repair attempts. The dealer has replaced cameras, the entire dash, rebooted the entire software system, and then undertook a "hail mary" to hard reset the car by unhooking the battery and rebooting the vehicles operating system. The vehicle continues to malfunction. The dealership cannot replicate the code because the car does not recognize that there has been an error. The failure to store the failure codes means the dash resets every time the car is shut off and restarted. That makes diagnosis nearly impossible and the dealer just keeps replacing random parts hoping to luck out and fix the underlying electrical, software, wiring, or camera issue. Nissan has refused to acknowledge this serious safety issue and will not repurchase the vehicle. We have four daughters under 12 years old and are forced to keep driving this unsafe car until someone helps or something tragic happens. PLEASE HELP US! I can provide the repair orders from the dealership.
I am still having the same issues as the last time I reported this but new issues have occurred as well. The self driving is still disengaging with little or no warning and pulling the vehicle sharply to the left or right causing safety concerns with almost hitting another car or the center median wall on the highway. The stereo is still going black and turning the screen off. When you attempt to remedy, the buttons and screen are all frozen. When I power it off the AC goes off. The other issue is the crash warning is popping up when I'm trying to take off from a stop light, causing the wipers to start and the AC to turn off. One instant the braking applied like I was about to hit something but no cars were in front of me at the light. The car also turned on like it was in auxiliary mode after I got out and walked around to the passenger door to get my child out. These are causing lots of stress and numerous trips to the dealership to attempt to remedy. My vehicle has been at the dealership since Sept 29, 2026 making this the 3rd time and over a month total of not having access to it.
Malfunction: see owners manual with forward collision icon popped up. Only went away when we turned the vehicle off. Tried wiping off sensors to see if it was a sensor issue. Continued to happen. When we arrived back to [XXX] I was driving on XXX. Error message came on with a loud beep, vehicle shut off on me while I was driving (screens went black, a/c cut off, idle message flashed across screen and the vehicle stalled out. Engine came back on by itself. I was driving in my neighborhood leaving my home address. Took it to the Infiniti dealership. They couldn’t replicate it and could see the codes thrown. XXX picking my kids up from school sitting at a stop light and the vehicle beeped again when the light turned green and I started to go, idle message flashed, all screens black, a/c cut off, malfunction message came on, engine turned itself back on when the vehicle turned back on. Was told ADAS was reconfigured + software update and sent off again. XXX in the middle of an intersection loud beep, idle message, all screens black, AC cut off, malfunction message on screen again when the vehicle turned itself on again by itself. The contact owns a 2026 Infiniti QX80. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, there was an abnormally strong fuel and rotten egg odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but no cause for the failure was found. The failure persisted, causing the contact and her husband to become nauseous. The contact stated that they were going to seek medical attention later. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 900.
On numerous occasions the pro pilot feature has malfunctioned and aggressively jerked the vehicle to the left causing us to almost hit the concrete wall divider. The cruise control turns off and on numerous times when trying to change lanes. It drives dangerously close to semis when passing on the left, almost crossing into the right lane. I've taken the vehicle to the infiniti dealership and they tell me they can't duplicate it but don't do anything about it. I had my husband drive it as well and it does the same thing to him.
many times when I am using pro pilot assist it does not brake to point when it is inches of crashing into car in front, I manually have to apply brakes. in addition while being in full automatic mode (hands free mode) it turns off lane keeping assist completely where if the driver was not Able to make split second decisions it would collide with vehicle near it. there is no warning for pro pilot assist mode to be driven below or above a certain speed, Infiniti dealer advised it should not be used for bumper to bumper traffic or within city. but when even using it on highway it sticks to one side of lane and still requires hands on all times but Infiniti advertises it to drivers it is a "safe hand free option" with no warnings. just a awful accident awaiting to happen.
I am submitting a safety complaint regarding the driver assistance system (ProPILOT Assist) in my 2024 Infiniti QX80. The behavior of this system creates a potentially dangerous driving condition. When ProPILOT Assist is engaged, the vehicle consistently delays braking until the last possible moment, then applies sudden and aggressive braking rather than smooth deceleration. This creates a high risk of rear-end collisions, especially in moderate to heavy traffic where gradual speed adjustments are expected. In addition, the lane-keeping function appears unstable. The vehicle tends to drift or “hug” one side of the lane instead of maintaining a centered position. At highway speeds, the system makes abrupt and overly aggressive steering corrections, even when the vehicle is already within lane boundaries and at a safe following distance. These sudden inputs feel unnatural and reduce driver confidence, requiring constant manual correction. Overall, the system behavior is unpredictable and does not align with reasonable expectations for a driver assistance feature. Instead of enhancing safety, it introduces unnecessary risk by combining delayed braking with aggressive steering inputs. This issue occurs under normal driving conditions on clearly marked roads and does not appear to be an isolated event. Given the size and weight of the QX80, these system responses could lead to serious accidents if not addressed. I request that this issue be investigated, as it presents a significant safety concern for drivers and others on the road.
While driving at normal speed, I suddenly heard a very loud explosion-like “boom” coming from the roof of the vehicle. I immediately pulled over and discovered that the panoramic roof glass had shattered, leaving a large opening/hole in the glass. There was no impact from any object, no debris strike, and no visible impact point or damage consistent with road debris. Nothing hit the vehicle before or during the incident. The failure occurred suddenly and without warning, creating a serious safety concern. Shattered glass could have entered the passenger compartment and startled the driver, potentially causing loss of control. Based on the nature of the failure (loud explosive sound, sudden collapse, no impact evidence), this appears to be a spontaneous glass failure / manufacturing defect of the panoramic roof. This incident raises concerns about the safety and structural integrity of panoramic roof glass on this vehicle model.
