Toyota IS recalling certain model year 2006-2009 lexus IS and model year 2006-2007 lexus GS vehicles. due to insufficient tightening of the fuel pressure sensor connected to an engine fuel delivery pipe with nickel phosphorus plating, there IS a possibility that, over time, the pressure sensor could loosen. if loosening occurs, fuel could leak past a…
Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Dealers will inspect for fuel leakage from the threaded portion of the fuel pressure sensor and if a fuel leak IS not confirmed, dealers will further tighten the fuel pressure sensor with the proper torque. if a fuel leak IS confirmed, the gasket between the sensor and the fuel deliver pipe will be replaced with a new one, and the sensor will be tightened with the proper torque. this service will be performed free of charge. the safety recall began on march 7, 2011. owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
Toyota IS recalling 214,570 my 2006-2008 lexus IS, my 2006-2007 GS and my 2007-2008 LS passenger vehicles equipped with aluminum fuel delivery pipes (fuel rails). ethanol fuels with a low moisture content will corrode the internal surface of the fuel rails. as this condition progresses, the engine malfunction indicator light may illuminate.
Over time, the corrosion may create a pinhole resulting in fuel leakage. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel delivery pipes free of charge. the recall IS expected to begin during february 2009. owners may contact toyota/lexus at 1-800-255-3987.
We were crossing under the light to go to the gas station and we believe the car that hit us ran a red light. It caused right rear damage and side airbags to deploy. There's a metal piece in the tire and its undriveable.
SRS Driver side knee air bag DTC B1861
The anti-reflective coating on the rear view mirror on the inside of the car is coming through the mirror causing black spots that obscure vision out the back of the car. This issue affects all 2006-2011 Lexus gs models. All oem replacements online have this happen to some degree. I bought this car a couple months ago, this was an issue from the day I bought it and most likely started many years prior in my specific model.
The contact owns a 2007 Lexus GS350. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to start and there was a fuel odor inside the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was jerking while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, where it was diagnosed with engine misfire and defective fuel injectors. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V012000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
My vehicle has been making noises on start-up and in time it makes the same knocking noise while idling. I brought my car to my mechanic and he says it’s my VVTI system failing and should be remedied under campaign 13V395000. The problem is holding Lexus accountable since it’s not an open recall under my VIN. I’ve contacted Lexus directly and confirmed this service was not completed. My VIN is listed on your site as being a potential for this issue. Please help, thanks.
Oil consumption, I have to add 2 quarts every 1300 miles
Because of the design, the rings stick causing oil consumption and engine wear. it smokes when driven. this affects these vehicles approximately years 06 - 11. They revamped the engine after 11 to fix the problem. they should repair our engines
Low oil light came on 1000 miles after oil change at lexus dealership. Car was low 2.5 quarts of oil. Blue grey smoke was coming out of the car during acceleration and car smelled like poison inside very unsafe. Car has been dealer maintained for everything. Car was certified pre owned as well. At 100,000 miles oil consumption test was done and was in fact proved to be burning oil. Car IS burning way too much oil. I've had 4 other vehicles none have burned oil. This IS unacceptable and I might have to buy a new engine soon. Please help me out. Thank you.
No power steering
Auto dimming glass has started to deteriate causing black streaks and impairing visibility. This IS don't a surface level scratch, this IS underneath the glass and a faulty product.
Showing airbag alert lighting on dashboard
Drivers side knee airbag reporting codes of short in squib circuit which comes and goes. Airbag light IS on when active. also randomly reports a code with open in squib circuit which also comes and goes. History reports has the codes active and clear. codes are present and will not clear at this time. this IS happening in all scenario's of movement and parked conditions. codes are still present when started in the morning after being parked overnight.
Left low beam headlight intermittently turn off. Need to turn off headlight for brief period causing a safety hazard in order for both headlights to turn back on. Seems to be known problem with this particular year/model.
Inner rear view mirror discoloration including black streaks and spots make it impossible to safely observe behind vehicle. Lexus has an internal "secret" safety tsib l-sb-0043-16 but refuses to acknowledge it or perform a repair, claiming it IS not the subject of a official recall. This IS a known issue for many lexus owners and IS widespread across numerous lexus models over the years of 2006 through 2009 and includes gs300, gs350, gs430, gs450h and gs460. I called the "lexus guest experience center" at their 800 number and they were evasive and combative with absolutely one goal in mind: no safety issue will be covered without being forced into coverage through a recall even though the service bulletin clearly covers the vin of my 2007 gs350 and clearly identifies the defective mirror. Searches across the internet show many complaints by owners of lexus refusing to fix this defective mirror. https://repairpal.com/the-inside-rear-view-mirror-may-become-discolored-857 https://repairpal.com/the-inside-rear-view-mirror-may-become-discolored-318 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-3rd-gen-2006-2011/735645-black-scratches-on-rear-view-mirror.html https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/652097-about-black-spots-on-rearview-mirror-2.html https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-3rd-gen-2006-2011/556707-rearview-mirror-question.html
Torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid issue
Rear view mirror IS being discolored with black spots
TL* the contact owns a 2007 lexus gs350. During rainy weather or while the vehicle was at a car wash, water would leak into the headlight casing. The issue caused the fuses to fail. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the headlights were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
Passenger side headlight intermittently stops working while in motion and/or stopped. Trusted repair shop said headlight ballast IS bad and that the driver's side ballast IS starting to make noise as if it IS going bad as well. They have repaired many lexus cars with this problem. This IS a known issue on this year, make and model of the car. In some cases, drivers have had both headlights shut off at once. Lexus requires a complete headlight assembly to replace the bad ballast, a cost of over $2500 for both sides. Given that this IS a known problem and potentially dangerous should both headlights shut off at the same time while driving at night, I was surprised to find that there has never been a recall for this problem.
TL* the contact owns a 2007 lexus GS. While reversing at approximately 3 mph, the contact struck a pole. There were no injuries. The vehicle stalled and would not start and the check hybrid indicator illuminated. The vehicle restarted after 40 minutes, but the warning indicator was still illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and the warning indicator was no longer illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the hybrid battery was faulty and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.
Rear view mirror defective : scratched and dis colored
The lexus dealer once again (the first instance was in december 2013 at 45,533 miles and required replacement of pads and rotors.) reported during routine maintenance that the rear brake caliper pins were seized and had to be cleaned and lubricated (neither action IS a lexus scheduled preventive maintenance activity.). as in the first instance, it IS fortunate that no accident resulted from these seized calipers. *tr
Heard pop from engine lost power. Was able to drive off highway at 10 miles per hour or less with engine banging. Made it to my mechanic who said that the engine rocker arm in cylinder 3 broke.lexus was no help, as my 5 year engine warrant expired. *tr
As I was driving, all the sudden I had a difficult time to make turns. I noticed that the p/s light IS on. I have done some researches on the internet and I found out that several toyota & lexus vehicles have been recalled for power steering and emc failure problem. So when I contacted the dealer, they told me all the recall on my vehicle has been done and there IS no emc failure recall at this moment. but there was a emc recall on the previous year model. I assume that they might be using the same parts on my car and that should be recalled as well. *tr
The brakes always make alot of noise and just hate the car. *tr
Both headlights went out while driving in the rain at night. I am told this IS a very common problem, water gets into the sealed head lamp and shorts out the balist. *Tr I was almost hit as another car pulled out in front of me before I realized both head lights had shorted out. they turn back on once reset but go out with out warning.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On February 16, 2010, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened RQ10-003 to determine whether the scope of prior Toyota recalls relating to potential unintended acceleration were sufficiently broad, including, among others, Toyota recalls 07E-082, 09V-388, 10V-017, and 10V-023.NHTSA also requested information regarding potential electronic causes of unintended acceleration in Toyota and Lexus vehicles.I. Pedal Interference from Floor mats, Carpet Covers and Plastic Pads in Carpets.During the RQ10-003 investigation, ODI reviewed a large volume of documents to assess whether additional vehicles should be recalled.Following the agency's analysis, NHTSA requested that Toyota recall additional vehicles.Toyota complied with the agency's request. The details of these recalls are set forth more fully in Toyota's reports to NHTSA pursuant to 49 CFR Part 573.These recalls are as follows:Recall 11V-112: (1) model year (MY) 2004-2006 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid; and, (2) MY 2004-2007 Lexus RX330,RX350, and RX400h (hybrid model). The total estimated population under this recall is 769,379 vehicles. This recall remedies potential accelerator pedal entrapment caused by a loose floor carpet cover (trim panel). Recall 11V-113: (1) MY 2003-2009 through 2009 Toyota 4Runner; (2) MY 2006-2010 Toyota RAV4; and, (3) MY 2008-2011 Lexus LX570.The total estimated population under this recall is 1,381,000 vehicles. This recall supplements recall 09V-388 and remedies potential accelerator pedal entrapment by an unsecured floor mat.Recall 11V-115: (1) MY 2006-2007 Lexus GS300 (all wheel drive vehicles); and, (2) MY 2006-2007 Lexus GS350 (all wheel drive vehicles). The total estimated population under this recall is 19,647 vehicles. This recall remedies potential accelerator pedal entrapment caused by inadequate clearance between the pedal linkage and a plastic pad embedded in the vehicle's carpet.II. Potential Electronic Causes of Unintended Acceleration. After NHTSA opened RQ10-003, NHTSA launched a ten-month study of potential electronic causes of unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles.NHTSA launched the study in the spring of 2010 in light of concerns aired in Congressional hearings.NHTSA enlisted engineers at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with expertise in areas such as computer controlled electronic systems, electromagnetic interference and software integrity to assess whether electronic systems or electromagnetic interference played a role in incidents of unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles. That study has concluded. Two reports are associated with the study and are available on NHTSA's website.NASA's report is entitled Technical Support to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on the Reported Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Unintended Acceleration (UA) Investigation, NESC Assessment No. TI-10-00618 (Jan. 18, 2011).NHTSA's report is entitled Technical Assessment of Toyota Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Systems (Feb. 2011).Both reports should be read in conjunction with each other. As stated in its report, NASA did not find an electronic cause of large throttle openings that can result in unintended acceleration incidents. NHTSA did not find a vehicle-based cause of unintended acceleration incidents other than the physical pedal interference causes that are being addressed by Toyota's recalls. This RQ is closed.
