Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Mercedes-Benz Metris vehicles. A defective memory chip in the rearview camera may cause the display image to freeze.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A frozen rearview image does not show the live view of what is currently behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 10, 2023. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS2RU54KAM.
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris vehicles. The transmission support may not have been properly tightened to the vehicle body, potentially resulting in damage to the driveshaft.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Damage to the driveshaft could cause a loss of power to the wheels, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the transmission support mounting bolts, replacing and tightening them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began July 11, 2018. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267.
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris vans. These vehicles have electrical power steering control units with improperly welded contact pins.
Risk and remedy
Risk
The improperly welded pins may lose contact, deactivating the power steering assist and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the electric power steering rack, free of charge. An interim notice is expected to be mailed on November 17, 2017. A second notice will be mailed to owners when parts become available. Owners may contact Daimler's customer service at 1-877-762-8267.

- 11011223SMOG/Emissions Test fail due to one or more Readiness Monitors not set Complaint: The vehicle has failed the State Emissions Certification because one or more of the OBDII readiness monitors are not completely set. Cause: One or more of the following Readiness Monitors are not fully set within XENTRY: Misfire Monitoring - Injection System Fuel System Monitoring - Injection System, Fuel System, EGR Valve, O2 Sensor NMHC Catalyst Monitoring - NMHC/Diesel Oxidation Catalyst NOx Aftertreatment Monitoring - SCR Catalyst System Boost Pressure System Monitoring - Turbocharger, Charge Air System Exhaust Gas Sensor Monitoring - O2 Sensor, NOx Sensors Diesel Particulate Filter Monitoring - Diesel Particulate Filter System Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Monitoring - EGR Valve and system Remedy: Please complete the required driving conditions to fully set the incomplete Readiness Monitor. DO NOT: - Erase any fault codes. If fault codes are present, process these and allow the readiness drives to clear fault codes. - Flash or SCN code the CDI or SCR control units. - Perform a manual DPF regeneration, unless instructed below. - Disconnect the main battery.
- 11009854Complaint: Noises when reversing slowly <5 km/h (squeaking) Cause: There is a seal in the electric drivetrain that seals off the coolant system from the electric motor. This seal is moistened with coolant during forward travel. As a result of the change in rotational direction when reversing slowly, it may be the case that this sealing ring is no longer moistened. Squeaking noises may occur as a result of the so-called "stick-slip effect". This behavior does not impact the function or durability of the sealing ring and electric drivetrain. Remedy: Do not replace any parts. Explain the cause of the noises to the customer.

- 10231020Complaint Various issues including control unit programming procedure will not complete successfully/no newer software found, communication faults, or sporadic malfunction of systems. Cause Aftermarket CAN device could be installed into the vehicle's CAN network. Such devices can be but are not limited to, remote start modules, CAN blockers, or high idle modules. Remedy A successful control unit programming session cannot be ensured while aftermarket devices are connected to the vehicle's CAN network. Some of the device companies supply a bypass to allow control unit programming.

Remedy Note: Do not replace any component parts or carry out any diagnostic work! Model 447.6/7 (Metris) As of the introduction of code FR1 (Rearview camera, non-folding), the folding function of the reversing camera is no longer available (discontinuation of camera cover (KAB) control unit (N144)). Consequently, the reversing camera remains open/folded out at all times. The representation of the camera image on the media display of the radio/radio- navigation (N87/15) is not restricted and functions in the usual way. Information: There are no plans for a retrospective adaptation of the folding function through Aftersales.
