Risk
In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Newmar will notify owners, and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on February 7, 2018. Risk
A sudden loss of an engine brake without warning on a motorhome may lead to a reduced brake capacity, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Newmar will notify owners, and DTNA dealers will replace the throttle pedal, free of charge. The recall began on August 5, 2016. Risk
Loss of power steering assist would result in increased difficulty to steer the vehicle in either direction at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Newmar will notify owners, and Freightliner dealers will replace the power steering hose with a higher temperature rated one, free of charge. The recall began on June 15, 2016. Owners may contact Freightliner customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 16V-121.

Risk
If the brake activation signal to a towed device remains active when the motorhome chassis service brakes are released, the brakes on a towed device may remain engaged depending on brake configuration of the trailer. As a result, the brakes would drag and possibly overheat potentially resulting in a fire. Additionally, following drivers may be confused by the motorhome's actions, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Newmar will notify owners, and Freightliner dealers will modify the affected assemblies, free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2016. Owners may contact Freightliner/Daimler Trucks North America LLC at 1-800-547-0712 or Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 16V-204.
Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain model year 2008-2014 King Aire, 2009-2014 Essex, 2011-2015 Mountain Aire, Ventana, and Dutch Star, 2012-2014 Ventana LE, 2012-2015 Canyon Star, and 2015 London Aire motorhomes. The affected vehicles are equipped with refrigerator door latches that may inadvertently lock without the operator's knowledge.
Risk and remedy
Risk
If an individual climbed into the refrigerator and the door inadvertently latched, the person would not be able to open the door, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy
Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will install a new replacement door latch that will not automatically latch, free of charge. The recall began on January 24, 2016. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.
Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 King Aire, Essex, London Aire, and Mountain Aire motor homes manufactured November 26, 2013, to November 11, 2014. The wiper blades may separate from the wiper arm connectors, especially when the wipers are used at the high speed setting.
Risk and remedy
Risk
If the wiper blades separate from the wiper arms, the driver may have reduced visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The recall began on March 17, 2015. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.

I purchased the unit with 25,000 miles. the def system failed enroute to the dealer I purchased it from and failed again after approximately 3,000 miles after repair. the entire def header was replaced. this IS an extremely dangerous situation when the vehicle goes in to derate. my motorhome IS 53,000 lbs and 45'. add a tow vehicle and it IS very dangerous when this happens. I was heading to las vegas NV from quartzite, az when this happend on a two lane highway. no place to pull over to even check anything. These def systems continue to be extremely problematic. there needs to be investigation in to how to keep these systems operating properly.

- 10205733Check for proper torque of all mounting bolts on all electric slideout motors. If any bolt is under- torqued, remove the bolt, and add blue LOCTITE thread sealant to the bolt threads. If there is no washer on the nut side of the bolt, add a flat washer. Reinstall and torque all 5/16 bolts to 19 ft. lbs. and all 3/8 bolts to 33 ft. lbs.

- 10153541Newmar has made a change to the water pump circuit fuse on certain coaches to improve customer experience. In most cases, the 10 amp fuse installed by the factory is sufficient. However, some coaches equipped with a ShurFlo water pump (Newmar part # 127488) blow the 10 amp water pump fuse.

In response, Newmar is publishing PIB 495. Issue: On certain coaches, a check valve is missing on the auxiliary air tank, causing the tag axle steer tires to remain in a turned position when stopping the vehicle during a turn and shifting into reverse. In addition, some of these vehicles also require an air line retrofit.
- 10121941If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.

In response, Newmar has filed recall NHTSA# 17V 497 and TC# 2017-389. Issue: On certain motorhomes built on Freightliner XCR chassis, a battery cable mounting bracket may not have been installed at the plant per installation drawings. If improperly routed and clipped, the battery cable may be in close proximity to the frame rail. This may cause rubbing or shorting of the cable and may increase the risk of a fire.

NHTSA# 15V 803, TC# 2015- 562 Issue: On certain motorhomes, the cargo door lock actuator on the baggage doors could overheat due to a faulty keyless entry module configuration. If operated with a battery voltage below 9.5 VDC, the actuator could chatter, overheat and melt along with a portion of the inner door material which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

This only applies to French door style refrigerators with a specific travel latch. Attached is a list of specific coaches affected.
- 10116281This PIB has been created to inform Newmar dealers that power lock actuators for baggage doors (part # 66214 and part # 123822) are now obsolete. The new part (# 024193) is a replacement for both of the obsolete parts and will mount the same way. The wire connections have changed from a plug to two barrel connectors. The barrel connectors may be used or cut off to install with spade terminals, which allows wires to be reversed easily.

This will apply when replacing the (old) 5 wire shade motors or changing complete shade when existing (old) shade is 5 wire and new shade motors are 3 wire. When installing the new 3 wire shades or motors you will need a Programmer. Instructions for the Programmer are included.

- 10110777Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. has released a Recall Spartan NHTSA # 15V-388, TC # 2015 283. Certain 2015- 2016 model units on Spartan K3 Chassis are affected. Fasteners that attach the stay rod to the rear drive axle may not have been installed with thread locker or tightened in the correct sequence. The fasteners may loosen and the stay rod could disconnect from the rear drive axle allowing the rear axle to move freely in certain directions. This could cause loss of vehicle control which may increase the risk of a crash. The loosening of the fasteners may occur without warning.
