My 2007 C70 stopped reading both of my key fobs at the same time. I was at walmart and when I tried to start the car it said key error try again. So I tried and I tried. Nothing. I called my roommate who came with my other key about 1 hour later. It was about 1:30 am by this time. the other key didn't work either. Also key error. My top IS open and I have no choice but to leave my car exposed over night. I go back 9 hours later to try and start the car again. Nothing again. This time the key gets stuck in the ignition. I had to have the car towed to my house, and the top IS still down . And neither key works. This IS ridiculous that they can allow a key to be erased. It IS very unsafe. I could have been in a situation in the parking lot where I needed to leave and wasn't able to leave. My life could have been at jeopardy.

Without notice, the driver's door comes unlocks itself and unlatched which results in the door opening while driving. I have researched this and it appears to be a fairly common problem. https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-c70-14/c70-door-unlocks-opens-itself-while-driving-83545/

While driving at highway speeds, passenger door suddenly comes unlatched. Doors are automatically locked when driving. The information system reports a door open, the interior lights flicker on and off with the door vibrating by the wind at 70 mph. Also, the window starts going up and down about a half inch like it would normally function when the door IS opened for clearance. This has happened on a road trip, and was in a place where it was difficult to find a safe place to exit the highway, the door, after closing, appears to shut properly, and the lock seems to function. Then, when there IS a bump or dip in the road, the door becomes unlatched again. This IS very scary to have the door come unlatched for no reason at all. There was not a passenger on this trip, so it was not accidentally opened. There was a small dog with me, and she was terrified by the noise, and the window movement. I was terrified that my dog would go out the open door. There are other complaints of this happening to other owners, so it IS not a rare occurrence. Volvo should issue a recall to repair the doors to prevent them from opening unexpectedly. reference nhtsa ID numbers 10680779 and 10616590

While driving either the passenger door or the driver door suddenly becomes unlatched even when locked and the information message system comes on saying passenger (or driver) door IS open and cabin lights come on. I am required to pull over and resecure doors. this issue has escalated to a nearly daily occurrence. this problem should be fixed by a recall as doors are not supposed to automatically come open on a 7 year old car that has never been in an accident. I have made an appt with the herb gordon volvo dealer in silver spring md for an assessment. *tr

The doors open while driving. Even if they are locked. The information system gives a message drivers door open or passenger door open and the interior lights come on while driving. This happened to me recently 4 times while driving from kent, ohio to naples, florida. The doors were firmly closed and locked and hours later came open by them self. I went to the volvo dealer in bonita springs and spoke to [xxx] the assistant service manager.he told me the problem was in a door actuator and they were aware of this problem and he claimed this IS a wear and tear item costing around a $1000 to repair. I asked what wear and tear could cause the doors to electronically open while driving. He had no reply. I also explained that this IS a very unsafe condition and if there isn't a recall, there should be. I called volvo also on 12-11-14 and spoke to [xxx] who also gave me the run around. I feel this condition IS a common problem with theses cars and IS an accident waiting to happen, can cause injury or death and should be repaired by volvo at no cost to all affected owners. Owners who have paid for this repair should be refunded. This IS a safety problem caused by volvo and should be repaired by volvo. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr

The failure recurred intermittently when the contact was traveling at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the rear caliper seized and was not holding the brake rotor, and it needed to be replaced. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign ID number: 08v101000 (service brakes, hydraulic) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000. updated 04/03/13*lj updated 4/11/13 */cn updated 04/15/13

I have air and water leaks. the car has been to the mattusch volvo dealer in kaiserslautern, germany, four times for these leaks; mattusch has had the car for over 3 months (cumulative) trying to correct the leaks to no avail. in fact the repairs have made the leaks worse. it started with small water leaks in the rear windows. after the "repairs" the leaks got worse and worse and air noise was very bad. now the trunk leaks water due to the "repairs". I have had a volvo country rep look at the car and he agrees the air noise IS bad. volvo hq tried to tell me it's a cabriolet so I should expect air leaks. this IS a hard top convertible, not a rag top! *tr

I am a little concerned about a commercial I just viewed with a line something like "who would you buy a volvo for?". a young girl - who IS chatting up a storm - IS placed in the middle back seat of a volvo SUV. her father ensures she IS secured with a regular seatbelt. my concern IS it IS questionable about her size/weight/height to be placed in a regular car seat. she looks like she should be secured by a booster seat. the current guidelines are" a belt positioning booster seat IS typically recommended for children who are 4 to 8 years old or who weigh at least 40 pounds and are up to 4 feet 9 inches tall.* a proper fit IS obtained when the lap belt fits across the hips and the shoulder belt fits across the child's shoulder and chest. (Taken directly off the nhtsa website). in the commercial, it appears that the regular lap/shoulder harness belt rides up over the child's neck. can you please verify the age/weight/height of the girl used in the commercial. if she does not meet federal recommendations for a regular lap/shoulder belt, this commercial should be removed and volvo should be mandated to air commercials promoting the current booster seat recommendations. *Jb
