2 recalls name the 2009 Audi TT. Newest first.
Volkswagen IS recalling certain model year 2006 through 2010 audi A3, tt, and tt roadster passenger vehicles manufactured between september 29, 2005 and august 26, 2009. the closing force of an internal spring of the fuel tank ventilation valve IS not adequate enough to hold the valve closed under extreme driving conditions possibly allowing fuel to leak.
In the presence of an ignition source, a vehicle fire could occur.
Volkswagen will notify owners and audi dealers will replace the fuel tank ventilation valve with an improved valve free of charge. the safety recall began on november 16, 2009. owners may contact audi at 1-800-253-2834.
Volkswagen IS recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 passenger cars manufactured between september 2008 and august 2009. the wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the direct shift gearbox (dsg) may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped. with insufficiently crimped connector wires, a temperature sensor has the potential to falsely…
The abrupt shift to neutral could lead to a crash without warning.
Volkswagen will reprogram the transmission control module with updated software free of charge. the recall began on october 20, 2009. owners may contact volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987.
Had issues with the rear taillights grounding issue causing the ground in the connector to melt and short out causing the taillight to no longer work. this was an issue first on the driver side then the other 6 months later. both repaired locally by adding an additional ground wire and replacing the connectors.
I've experienced issues when trying to shift gears, most recently when putting the car in reverse from drive, the dashboard started flashing and it lost all power as if it were disengaged or in neutral. I took the car into a dealer as this IS a safety issue and was told that there was a recall on this issue for my vin ( campaign 09v333000), but that it had already been repaired prior to my ownership, which does not seem to be the case.
Clunk and noise from dsg transmission when accelerate from stop in d position or from 2ND to 1ST gear for slowing down. I think it IS mechatronic issues for those year VW audi dsgs. it's out of warranty but still can be covered by recall?
TL* the contact owns a 2009 audi tt. The contact stated that the convertible top failed to close entirely, open, or close. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the flap motors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repair however the failure persisted. The contact mentioned that the convertible top was repaired on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,900.
A defective passenger side window sprocket in the pulley assembly caused the window to jam in a halfway open position which caused a dangerous visilibility condition while operating the vehicle in a snowstorm. The vehicle was literally approximately 36 hours past the time duration of the factory standard warranty period therefore audi refused to assume liability for the window pulley assembly's failure. *tr
I accelerated the car and I was unable to stop it. I applied the brakes and the car just kept on going. *Tr
2009 tt roadster audi engine caught fire while driving. the consumer stated he heard a pop in the engine compartment and immediately saw thick dark smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. He pulled over and within 30 seconds the engine area was engulfed in flames. In 30 minutes the vehicle was completely destroyed. The consumer suspected the battery coil pack failed. *Jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2009 audi tt 2.0T. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power, the brakes and the power steering failed. The vehicle coasted and then stopped. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership where the steering column, computer control panel and the ignition system were repaired. Three days later, the failure occurred again almost causing a crash. The vehicle was towed to a different dealership where the relay was replaced. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current mileage was approximately 7,100. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
The car was driving fine during the day. During the evening I was maneuvering the car to park. When I put the car into reverse, the prnds indicators started flashing. The car would not move in any of the gears while this was occurring. I had to restart the car off to be able to move the car. I brought the car into the dealership and they replaced the mechatronics unit of the car. The same issue occurred about a week after my car was returned to me. I brought the car back and was told that it was due to a low level of transmission fluid. The car was returned to me and the problem showed up a week later. I am scheduled to bring the car back in this coming week. It IS an issue with an audi dsg transmission. *Tr
I bought a cpo 2009 audi tt shortly after purchasing I noticed that when I put the car in reverse it would not find a gear. The car would have to be restarted to correct the issue . I told the mechanic at my 6000 mile check that the car was not finding a gear when I put the car in reverse. He then said that all the readings from the car did not show an issue. At my 16000 mile service again told the rep that I was experiencing the same issue. He again stated no errors found. Then at 19000 miles my check engine light came on. The car began to drive kind of harsh at low speeds and I was experiencing the flashing lights of pnrds more often at least three times a week when switching to reverse. I took it in for the check engine light described the issue again to my service guy. He said they would look at it. Come to find out they said they needed to change the transmission control module unit and I would not receive my car for two weeks. I picked up my car verified with service rep the car was in good standing with warranty recalls he assured me everything was fine and the issue had been corrected. I had the car for no more than 12 hours before the flash of death pnrds appeared except this time I almost rolled into a car while parking. I immediately called the rep to discuss that this IS some bs. So I took the car in and he said some bs how he took the car to some audi car maintenance guy and they said I would need a whole new transmission addition, I noticed that when moving the car from drive to park that was a double clicking sound and what can best be described a double lurching of the car when going to drive. So audi released a car they said was fine and it didn't work past 12 hours. I am over audi. I am currently in the process having them buy back the car because I have been without my car for a month. Pay 45K for a car it should work for more the 19K miles. *Tr
This IS the utmost frustrating serial of incident I have ever encountered with an auto manufacture company - audi. I have tried to put my faith and safety again with audi, but they have completely failed me leaving me and family in dangerous and paranoia. My audi 2009 tts was problem free until 4,000 miles. Out of ordinary, the engine light came on and the dealership informed me that the fuel seal was leaking and needed replacement. This incident was very similar with my 2009 A3 incident (odi #10281829). I have since been extremely paranoid with my new tts as the A3 had left me very frightening experience as it had completely lost power on the highway. at around 14,000 miles, I have noticed a ticking sound by the rear driver area. This was the area that the dealership had worked on at 5,000 miles with the replacement of fuel seal. I have not think much of it as the car was still running and it was approaching the next service interval and I thought I can just have the dealership check this problem then. however, today, I was driving locally with my grandmother in las vegas. The ticking sound was still there and the tts once again completely failed on the local street. I was traveling on the local street in the far left lane at around 45 mph, the car started to jerk and the check engine light was on. Then the engine completely shut down in the middle!! I did not want to stop in the middle of the traffic and I have turned on my emergency light and cruise to a stop in the middle lane. My grandmother and I was in complete shock, I cannot believe this IS happening to me again with another audi car. Twice in 10 months. Luckily, the engine restarts and the check engine light was no longer on, but I could smell a whip of gasoline. I have stop by a gas station to see where IS this smell was coming from. It was coming from the left exhaust pipe. I am completely frustrated and I will never purchase and trust audi with my life. This cannot happen. *Tr
I was sold a car with a safety recall outstanding for the fuel tank ventilation valve 20q3j3 with mandatory stop sale in place and not advised of the need for repairs at the time of sale. I purchased the care 10/31 and not advised until I called the dealership on 11/09/09. *Tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The subject vehicles are equipped with direct shift gearbox (dsg) transmissions, which feature a 6-speed automatic gearbox with two wet running clutches (dual clutch) in which the clutch mechanism and gear changes are electrohydraulically operated by a mechatronic control unit.the dsg mechatronic controller includes extensive self diagnostic functions and strategies to ensure safe operation and prevent system/component damage in the event of component failures or harsh operating conditions.the basic hierarchy of fault modes includes some that only result in the storage of a diagnostic trouble code (dtc) and cause no loss of function, some that store a dtc and reduce vehicle operation to a limp home mode, and some that store a dtc and cause an interruption of motive power (i.e., open clutch).the driver IS alerted to the latter two modes by the dash gear position indicator (prnds) flashing. One of the conditions that results in interruption of motive power IS excess gearbox temperature.the system initially responds to increased gearbox temperature by ramping down engine torque.if the temperature keeps rising the mechatronic unit responds by opening the clutch.in a defect information report submitted to nhtsa on august 20, 2009, volkswagen described a potential defect in the wiring harnesses of the dsg gearbox temperature sensors used in approximately 16,000 model year (my) 2009 and 2010 volkswagen (eos, jetta and GTI) and audi (A3 and tt/tt roadster) vehicles equipped with dsg transmissions and built from september 2008 through august 2009 (nhtsa recall no. 09V-333, volkswagen recall no. 37E3/s7 and audi recall no 37e4/j7). Volkswagen provided this description of the defect, the wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the dsg may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped by the connector supplier during a limited production period.with insufficiently crimped connector wires, a temperature sensor has the potential to falsely detect a high gearbox oil temperature, causing the transmission to abruptly shift to neutral.if this happens, the selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel will flash.in addition, the depress brake pedal indicator light will be illuminated, alerting the driver to apply the brakes.in heavy traffic, the abrupt shift to neutral could lead to a crash without warning.volkswagen estimated that less than one percent of the recalled vehicles may contain the defect condition. Odi identified 40 complaints that appear to be related to the temperature sensor defect condition described by volkswagen.volkswagen received 139 complaints related to the condition, with 7 involving vehicles reported to odi, resulting a 172 total complaints to odi and volkswagen.all of these complaints involve the my 2009 an 2010 vehicles subject to recall 09v-333. Odi also identified complaints of harsh/jerky shifting in some volkswagen vehicles with dsg.volkswagen attributed this condition, which typically occurs at very low speeds, to excessive wear in the bushings of the two solenoid valves in the mechatronic unit that control clutch operation.volkswagen does not believe that the this condition IS a safety defect because the changes in shift quality develop gradually over time, do not cause a loss of motive power and have not resulted in any fatalities, injuries or serious crashes (there were three reported property damage incidents resulting in minor body damage in very low speed, parking maneuvers).volkswagen addressed this problem in the field with a customer service program that includes the replacement of potentially affected mechatronic units as well
