These records cover every 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
1 recall names the 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. Newest first.
General Motors is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the center console in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module.
If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will install a revised DRL module, inspect the wiring connector for heat damage, and clean the DRL circuit grounds. Owners were sent interim notices on August 14, 2014. The recall began on February 6, 2015. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14236.

This IS not my vehicle. I am reporting fraud by gm. Please review the information I am supplying because the new gm failed to do so.*dt *js
Nothing happened, but I saw that the chevrolet aveo's status was deemed, "recall incomplete," and I wanted to know what I should do with the car; if there are any repairs that need to be done or if repairs cannot be done. I don't have any photos because I don't understand in depth why this vehicle was recalled, but I wanted to know if this IS very concerning or not.
Tacada recall I bought my car had 121000 miles all a sudden I have no right tail light no dash lights an no passengers front orange light ther IS no power going to fuse box under hood I called the dealership they stated my vin had been fixed for that recal and it has not
Gm must not know this this has to do with the electrical wire harness inside of the engine block for the lights. For some reason the power IS over writing the fuses and not blowing and causing small engine fires that could get out of control. I caught mine in enough time and put it out. A guy has to do with the right side and the left side in the fuse box being two separate entities of wires which IS 7 + 7 equals 14 to control two different sizes. I was just wondering why and gm needs to know what's the sense of having a fuse box if the wires are going to override the fuse. And possibly catch fire or will catch fire it just a matter of an accident waiting to happen. I've been on youtube and found out this IS a common thing to happen for chevy aveo will there be a 2004 through 2008. I'm letting you know about this concern because I do not want anybody to die from a car fire because gm.maybe not know about this that it's a big issue an accident waiting to happen. Sincerely [xxx] if someone needs to reach me my phone number IS +[xxx]. Thank you n.t.s.b for looking into this. Just really concerned because if the fire would have got out of hand I have my grandchildren in the car god forbid something were to happen to them. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *cc *tr
My daughter came to a stop in traffic at a red light 50 feet from the car in front of her and was hit in the rear traveling at about 40 miles per hour knocking her in to the car in front of her the air bags did not deploy and gm's investigation says she wasn't hit hard enough. She was sent to the hospital via ems with back and neck injury's this whole accident was caught on the car wash video cam .
I bought this car brand new and kept up the maintenance religiously! I was horrified to find out that my timing belt went out at 46,000 miles! my manual says to replace timing belt at 60,000 miles. I've read there was a recall issued in 2006, but it didn't go to owners; just service shops...i was never alerted, that was definitely a mistake on gm's part. I feel as though I should be compensated!!!
Interior dash and console lights in-operative as well as the right tail light. Jesus christ, after seeing all of the people complaining about this our beloved no good for nothing governmental agencies should make gm responsible for the cost of repair for this obvious manufacturers or engineering defect. Or at least send out detailed instructions to the owners on how to fix this problem so they can take it to their mechanic of choice to get it fixed. The dealers obviously don't want to do anything about it. And they charge too much any how. sincerely, george s.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet aveo. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the timing belt, engine, and valves were melted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 53,000.
Air bag fault indicator has come on and remains on. Mechanic can not diagnose to repair. airbags are critical to the safety of persons in this small lightweight vehicle. Normal driving, commuter.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet aveo. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
When I went out to start the vehicle I had no dash board lights. every other light system worked but I could not see the speedometer or the tachometer. all the fuses were intact. I then bought new bulbs for the entire gage cluster and they still are not functioning. I have looked up this problem on multiple forums and this IS a very common issue without a solution other than "rigging" this system! this IS unacceptable practice to allow this to go on without some sort of recall or replacement part available!
TL* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet aveo. While reversing, a grinding noise was heard coming from the rear brakes. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who discovered that the rear brakes were rusted and corroded. The brakes were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. ma 10/21/15 the consumer stated the rear brakes locked up. They were not getting any lubricant. updated 01/15/16.*jb
TL* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the daytime running lights failed. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting). The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired under the recall remedy however it failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
TL* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet aveo. While driving at an unknown speed, the interior lighting and headlights suddenly shut off. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting). The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
The mileage and speed are approximate. I was backing out of my ice and snow covered driveway in february 2015. there IS a small dip where my driveway meets the street so I accelerated so as not to get my tires stuck in the icy dip. as I was backing my car into the street, and my car was in the lane of traffic the car shut off. I was unable to restart the car. my neighbor, and another gentleman who stopped to help, pushed my car back into my driveway. I attempted to start the car several times after the incident. the car never again started. I borrowed a vehicle until I had enough money to have the car towed to a mechanic for repairs. a mechanic looked at my vehicle and told me on may 11, 2015 that the car needs a new engine, the price of which IS $4,823.00. the mechanic further told me that the aftermarket/remanufactured engines company they deal with does not have an engine for this make and model car because this engine has so many problems that the company will not touch it. I believe that the oem engine has serious defects that have been overlooked due to the lack of reporting and lack of serious injury associated with the defect/failure. my car has shut off on me on three different days within an approximate six month period. I had a mechanic look at the car to figure out why it was shutting off on me in traffic and there was no indicator of any issue. my check engine light never came on, even after the recent engine failure. please investigate this engine. *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet aveo. The contact stated that the headlights failed. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the wiring harness connectors shorted due to overheating, which burned and melted the wires. The dealer advised that nhtsa campaign number: 14v261000 (exterior lighting) would only repair the drl module and it would not replace any additional failure caused by the recall. The contact also stated that the engine valve cover gasket was defective and caused the engine fluid to leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
2005 chevrolet aveo. consumer writes in regards to vehicle hood latch sticking or not work at all, when its cold. *smd
I bought this car for in 2011 with 25,000 miles, first 6 months was great. But then the inside panel lights were going on and off. Door locks weren't working and I noticed a burn mark on my panel under steering wheels and took to a shop and he said wires were a mess under the dash. He fixed the door locks for me and 200 and something dollars still no panel lights. I tried to fix this problem but no one wants to touch the mess. I got a recall for the daytime running lights which I never had a problem with, so when I brought it in for that told them about the problem and nothing was done. *tr

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
To date, the office of defects investigation (odi) IS aware of 29 non-duplicative complaints/field reports and 52 warranty claims related to the alleged defect affecting 69 unique subject vehicles.because the alleged defect condition IS most likely to occur during winter months when ambient temperatures are below freezing, odi upgraded this investigation to an engineering analysis on february 14, 2008 so that it could continue to monitor the field experience during the 2007/2008 winter season.by letter dated may 22, 2008, general motors corp. (Gm) supplemented its previous information request response with field data received by gm through may 1, 2008.according to gm, when moisture freezes in the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) system and/or the engine air intake tract it IS most often observed as a hard to start/no start condition, throttle stuck closed, rough running engine, stalling at idle, or oil leakage.of the 29 complaints related to stuck throttle, odi identified 5 reports that allege unwanted acceleration, 13 reports describe an apparent high-idle condition at start up or when slowing the vehicle to a stop without any allegation of unwanted acceleration or diminished braking performance, and the remaining 11 reports describe ambiguous allegations of stuck throttle without regard to severity or consequence.odi analysis of field incident data shows that the complaint and warranty trends appear to be in decline, with only 1 additional complaint and 6 warranty claims related to the alleged defect received by gm since april 2007. A safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.accordingly, this investigation has been closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
On october 19, 2007, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened a preliminary evaluation to investigate alleged stuck throttle incidents due to ice formation within the engine air intake tract in certain model year (my) 2004-2005 chevrolet aveo vehicles manufactured for sale or lease in the united states.this investigation was prompted by a safety recall campaign (05f-069) conducted by general motors corp. (Gm) involving substantially similar vehicles manufactured for sale or lease in canada.at that time, gm issued a technical service bulletin (tsb #05-06-04-065) to address the alleged defect condition in u.s. Vehicles.gm subsequently revised the canadian recall campaign to include more detailed instructions after it discovered certain vehicles were not properly serviced under the original recall campaign.gm revised the canadian recall campaign a second time to include more substantial changes to the throttle body, intake manifold, positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) and engine cooling systems to further reduce the likelihood of icing within the engine air intake tract.again, gm issued a technical service bulletin (tsb #08-06-04-009) to address the alleged defect condition in u.s. Vehicles using the revised procedure.odi IS aware of 28 non-duplicative complaints/field reports and 46 warranty claims related to the alleged defect affecting 63 unique subject vehicles.the alleged defect condition IS most likely to occur during the winter months when ambient temperatures are below freezing.however, the information provided in gm's response to odi's information request letter dated november 2, 2007, does not capture events that may have occurred during the most recent winter months.accordingly, this investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea08-005) to further study the frequency of the alleged defect.
