The transmission stalled after driving it for 4000 miles. The car has 9 codes associated with the anti lock brakes, electric power steering, and transmission control. The car is available for inspection. This car creates an unsafe condition for the driver whose anti lock brakes fail, and the fact that the transmission is bad.
While backing into my driveway garage I heard a loud bang and my car's transmission lost its linkage to the drive shaft. The car rolled forward regardless of shifting the car in park, reverse, neutral, drive, etc. I had to stop the car with my brakes and then park the car with my emergency brake enabled to stop the car from rolling on its own. A driver could easily be killed by not reacting right to the car when it loses its driving shaft. The driver yoke looks like it could be part of the problem. The car is currently at the transmission repair shop for repair and a safety investigation.
Air bag failure indicator is on after other clock spring related issue (radio volume increases when steering wheel turns) started. Air bags no longer appear to be in working order after apparent click spring failure. Part has not been replaced to confirm.
My car has come to a complete halt several times when I pressed the gas trying to get onto the speedway it will just have no power to it like it’s in neutral and I will have to hurry up and get over to the side and turn it back into park and then back into drive and pray that it goes. It doesn’t kick into gear like it should all the time my battery is always a hit or miss. I just spent $1000 on repairs and my power won’t even work. It’s an electric. and pray that it goes. It doesn’t kick into gear like it should alternator all the time my battery is always a hit or miss. I just spent $1000 on repairs and my power. Siri won’t even work. It’s an electrical nobody can get anything to fix it and now we’re out of state and it broke down again. It is so dangerous recently, the belt came off of it while I was driving and it caused liquids to explode and almost caused fire

Car randomly stalls while driving. Does NOT show CHECK ENGINE light, nor have any codes been recorded as checked by dealer obd reader. 2 Dodge Dealerships unable to diagnose because of no codes. Both dealerships claim they have not heard of this problem before I appeared. I saw in online forums that other owners have been dealing with this issue since at least 2011, so it appears the manufacturer is ducking their responsibility.
2012 Challenger SRT8 TIPM is this issue and there is no recall for this, while it should due to being a major part of the electrical system that controls all aspects of the safety system. Also now I am being told Dodge does NOT make this part any longer....how is that possible. This IS a recall for other Dodge models, why not mine
Window keeps going up and down fixed it at the shop the door lock actuator is the problem had passenger side fixed now the driver side is doing it which is draining my battery seems like a lot of cars have this issue
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge challenger. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the timing chain to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
My car keeps going from 60 or however fast I'm driving to smoking tires and my car IS halted causing me to almost wreck way too many times.
This would be the 3 or 4 time with this issue and I hade to replace part and fix it. Driver side smart window stops working it won't go down when opening door causing you to force door open and now door can not close correctly
The window sensors go out and all of the controls at the steering wheel. Windows stop rolling up on their own so close the door and leaves 1/4inch gap. Sometimes stays all the way up so window hits door jam. Does this on driver and passenger side. Also, windshield wipers control won't work, turn signals won't work. Checked all fuses and tried hard reset snd that didn't work. Sometimes they will start working again and then just stop again. Traction control light IS always on.
TL* the contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that every time she turned off her vehicle she had to unplug her battery because there was a malfunction with the smart switch in her windows. The windows did not completely close and as a result the electrical system overheated the vehicle and drained the battery. the contact called the dealer freedom chrysler dodge jeep RAM by ed morse 815 e camp wisdom rd, duncanville, tx 75116 888) 331-8981 and they said to bring the vehicle in for a diagnostic test. They also said there were no recalls . The vehicle was not repaired with contact having to buy new batteries to be able to start her vehicle. The manufacturer gave the contact a case number and referred her to call nhtsa. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Left cylinder head was replaced under manufacturer's warranty at 144,xxx oct 18 2018. Cylinder head was replaced again under the same warranty at 160xxx september 2020. After repair dealer stated that the right head had a leak and needed to be diagnosed. chrysler authorizes 9 hours of service labor for diagnosis under extended warranty X56 . The warranty also authorizes replacement of the right head cover and gasket if required. when I brought up this fine print to the dealer I was told by the dealer that chrysler would not cover anything else. It took calling for over a month straight for them to finally authorize the warranty work based on the updated 2014 bulletin that added the right side to the warranty.i was told I had to pay out of pocket 2000$ to diagnose the problem. Even though it was covered under warranty they told me it wasnt. I agreed to pay and they refused to take the car in. I asked them to put it in writing that they wouldn't cover it under warranty and I was told I was not welcome there. I am a disabled army veteran and I use driving as my therapy. My car has been non op for over a month now. Now that chrysler has verified everything I have said the whole time it's too late because now the dealerships around town wont touch the car based on the belief chrysler wont cover it. Chrysler said to me tons of times that I was out of warranty. it took them finding the updated bulletin. I dont blame the dealerships I blame chrysler. how can you replace one head at 144K and expect the old head to work well with it. The left head IS a way to get people in the shop for a free left side head that causes more damage. It's like putting an old tire with a new one. There should be a recall asking for replacement of both heads. Chrysler claimed it doesn't cause the vehicles to fail and it does like mine did on the freeway while driving
Door locks, lock and unlock on their own. Will do it anytime, doesn't matter IS the car IS running or not. Possibility of getting stolen or maybe the door will open while in motion. Happening as I type this...
As I had got off from work today and into my car I noticed my review mirror had fallen off. I can only assume that the heat IS the reason it came off. However, I called the local dealership in conyers, ga and was told that I could bring the car in with the issue. I immediately went there as I was only a couple minutes from there. When I get there she tells me something different and I was unable to get my review mirror fixed. I was tired and frustrated. I now can't drive my car and I have to be to work. IS this something that can be fixed quickly as I am a loyal customer of dodge and have every intention on buying more vehicles from you.
Latch /motor for window going up and down by itself driver side had to be replaced very common problem with dodge owners I just paid 563 dollars for dealer to replace latch so it won't drain my battery and leave me stranded. *tr
The vehicle was parked and turned off. a switch malfunctioned in the car, causing the driver's window to lower and raise 1/4" every 30 seconds or so. this drained the battery and left us stranded. after doing some research it looks like it IS the smart glass switch that failed. this IS a known issue on these vehicles and dodge issued a recall for only 2011 model years leaving the rest of us in jeopardy of being stranded and to pay hundreds of dollars for a fix and possible another couple hundred for a new battery.
Seat belt light stays on causing a safety issue and state inspection failure. *tr
The driver side window goes up and down about a 1/4 of an inch on it's own when the car IS off and no one IS in the vehicle. This drained the battery completely and I needed to be jumped to get it to the mechanic. I saw on line where this was a recall for 2010 ,2011 and some 2012 models. This happened on april 7TH. *tr
Passenger window will go down about 1/4 of an inch every 10 seconds when door IS closed and vehicle IS unlocked. This caused battery to drain.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
