My windshield wipers are randomly stopping working in the middle of driving in the rain. When the wipers stop, nothing on the lever is working, no rear wiper, no front wiper and no wiper fluid. The lever on the handle works nothing. This has happened probably 5 times randomly in last two weeks. Once the wipers stopped in an upright position and lever wouldn’t do anything until i hit a bump in the road and they all of a sudden started working again. Very scary, very dangerous. I took it into FORD dealer and they said nothing was wrong after their diagnostics and they sent me on my way. Doing my own research into the problem i see a recall but not for my Bronco Sport. Please help me with this as it is very scary to drive right now.
I am filing this complaint regarding the complete transmission failure of a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport at approximately 94,140 miles on [XXX]. Prior to the failure, the vehicle owner experienced mechanical problems and contacted Banner Ford on [XXX], regarding these concerns and an outstanding manufacturer recall. Banner Ford advised that diagnostic testing was necessary and scheduled an appointment for [XXX]. However, because this vehicle was the owner's only means of transportation and the dealership did not provide a requested loaner, she was unable to attend the appointment. Just four days later, on [XXX], the transmission completely failed. The owner also sought assistance from Kirk Brothers Ford in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and incurred two separate towing expenses during the process of obtaining service. Following the failure, Ford representatives advised that the dealership discovered metal shavings associated with the transmission damage. Ford subsequently denied warranty coverage and financial assistance, citing the metal shavings. However, Ford has not provided a detailed technical explanation identifying the underlying cause of the transmission failure or whether it resulted from an internal mechanical defect. Additionally, the vehicle had an outstanding PCM software recall. Despite repeated inquiries, we have not received documentation explaining whether the recall condition was evaluated as a possible contributing factor. I am concerned about the potential safety risks associated with premature transmission failure, including possible loss of propulsion or acceleration while driving. I have also identified other publicly reported Ford Bronco Sport transmission failures occurring before 100,000 miles. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether these failures indicate a recurring transmission defect affecting 2023 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles, review relevant manufacturer technical service bulletins. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue.
I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend (VIN: [XXX]) and unresolved safety recall 25S76 / NHTSA 25V467, involving a potential fuel injector crack and risk of an under-hood fire. I attempted to have this issue addressed at Covert Ford in 2025. As of XXX, the recall remains unresolved, and FordPass indicates that replacement parts are unavailable. My vehicle is currently at Leif Johnson Ford in [XXX]. I have also previously noticed a gasoline odor, although the cause has not been determined. I depend on this vehicle for daily transportation and long-distance travel. I am extremely concerned that Ford continues to leave me exposed to a known potential fire hazard without a completed remedy. This prolonged situation has caused significant and unnecessary stress. I am requesting an investigation into the continued lack of a recall remedy, written confirmation of whether my vehicle is safe to drive long distances, and appropriate transportation assistance, including a comparable loaner with unlimited mileage at no cost until the recall is resolved. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On Friday, October 9, 2026, I was driving to work when I noticed that my 2023 Ford Bronco Sport was struggling to accelerate after I stopped at a red light. When I arrived at work, I noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood. Upon opening the hood, I discovered a small fire behind the engine, which I was able to extinguish.Approximately three hours later, when I returned to my vehicle during my lunch break, it started and appeared to be running normally. However, while stopping to get gas, I noticed smoke coming from under the hood again, although there was no visible fire. Concerned about the vehicle’s condition, I drove the short distance to a dealership, where the vehicle was still smoking upon arrival.Initially, the dealership suggested that the fire may have been caused by leaves, debris, or possible rodent activity beneath the hood. However, this vehicle is my daily driver, and I had not experienced any issues of this nature before this incident. I am concerned that the cause has not yet been adequately established. The dealership later informed me that additional components, including the turbocharger and potentially other engine components, would need to be removed to assess the extent of the damage. They also stated that they would need a specialized Ford technician to inspect the vehicle but could not provide a timeline for when that inspection would take place.I am now without reliable transportation to get to work and manage my daily responsibilities, and I have not received a clear explanation of what caused the fire or the extent of the damage. I am also concerned because my vehicle has an outstanding safety recall that appears to describe a potential fire risk consistent with what occurred. When I raised this concern with the dealership, the representative did not appear to believe that the recall applied to my vehicle.I am requesting assistance in verifying the recall status for my specific VIN and determining whether the recall may be related to.
Vehicle drives rough and seems to sputter at times - regardless of gear or driving mode.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,500.
Vehicle had turbo,All wheel drive module and transmission all go out at once at 106,000 miles. Vehicle was well maintained and taken care of.
Air Conditioning / Engine Cooling System / Belts and Pulleys My vehicle experienced a sudden failure of power while driving. When restarting the car as instructed by the vehicle to try and get it back home, it kept losing power. Eventually? there was a loud under-hood popping noise and visible smoke billowing from under the hood. Upon inspection by the dealership the A/C compressor locked up and broke a belt. The purge valve has failed and is leaking. This means the compressor, condenser, purge valve, and ac lines and txv valve needs to be replaced. A broken belt causes an immediate loss of power steering assist, loss of alternator charging, and rapid engine overheating. Experiencing a sudden loss of steering control at highway speeds drastically increases the risk of a severe motor vehicle crash. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized repair facility. Ford has not issued a safety recall for this defect. I would appreciate it if this issue was looked into.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power with the check engine warning light illuminated, and the “Service Vehicle Soon” message displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant intrusion into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.
My 2023 Ford Bronco Sport is subject to NHTSA Safety Recall 25V467 / Ford Recall 25S76, issued July 16, 2025. Ford states that a fuel injector may crack, resulting in fuel accumulating on top of the engine. Ford further states that liquid fuel or fuel vapor accumulating near hot engine or exhaust components may ignite and result in an under-hood fire, increasing the risk of injury. As of September 2026, more than a year after this recall was issued, Ford's VIN-specific recall website continues to show the recall as incomplete and states: "Parts are not currently available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair." I am concerned that I am being expected to continue operating a vehicle with a manufacturer-acknowledged fuel leak and fire hazard while no final repair is available. I am requesting that NHTSA review Ford's continued inability to provide the remedy for Recall 25V467/25S76 and determine whether Ford is meeting its obligation to provide an effective safety recall remedy within a reasonable period of time. I would also like NHTSA to determine whether additional interim safety instructions or other action is warranted for owners who continue to operate these vehicles while awaiting repair.
Ford cannot fix the fuel injector issue which according to Ford can start a fire in the engine. Now the water pump had to be replaced as it was leaking coolant. No recall. And the front shocks are leaking fluid. The seat belt fix remains as Ford does not have the parts. This is a 3 year old vehicle that has been the subject to several recalls and more recalls by Ford need implemented. I have not gone without a vehicle for over 8 days. And again an engine light is one that Ford is still looking into.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the moon roof. The contact stated that the abnormal sound was like the moon roof was detaching from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failure of the gasket between the body of the vehicle and the moon roof. The contact was informed that the internal rail assembly and the gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was provided a discounted cost for the repair. The failure mileage was 29,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle pulled to the right with the tire pressure warning light illuminated. The driver was forced to steer the vehicle to the left to center the vehicle. The vehicle had been taken to two separate dealers where a total of four-wheel alignments were performed on the vehicle. However, after the repairs, the failure persisted. The contact then stated that after his wife had completed a right turn, there was an abnormal, popping sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another parked vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy on impact. The driver sustained neck pain after the crash but did not seek medical attention. A Police report was not filed. Upon arriving at the scene, the contact became aware that the CV axle had snapped which dented the tie rod. Due to the failure, the front passenger tire had detached from the axle and was sticking out from the wheel well. The vehicle was towed to a body shop where the mechanic discovered that the front passenger’s side tire had extreme wear and the tread was almost bald. The dealer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Manufacturer Recall Number25S76 NHTSA Recall Number25V467 This was issued one year ago in July 2025 and Ford is still saying there is no remedy. We have two of these Broncos - one for each daughter - and they've been driving these with a safety recall for over a year now.
I am filing a complaint because Recall 25V467 was issued one year ago to this month and Ford has still not provided the necessary repair or part and keeps saying they don't have a remedy.
We were driving in the middle of nowhere between [XXX] and [XXX] and the fuel system shut down cuz the fuel pump failed with a quarter of a tank left. We are stuck on the side of a narrow highway where the speed limit was 80 mph. Very scary. Every time we tried to start the car it would sputter and fail and the fuel warning came up not for lack of fuel but for a fuel pump issue. Software update was done the day before OTA. According to recall issues, fuel pump, cracks and failures have occurred many times and there are several recalls on that, but apparently our VIN is not included. This vehicle has been in multiple times for major repairs and is currently in for transmission replacement and coolant replacements. Both of these have already had parts replaced. The recall on my car has been on it for a year and has yet to be addressed. I was told that my car started smoking while in ford possession and attempting repairs. When I questioned the recall I was told it wasn’t a big deal and that it was just a system thing and not a danger. This does not seem to be the case. The vehicle has had issues since 15000 miles and has been repaired 4 times but officially broke down at 96000 miles in less than 3 years.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that while driving 15 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power, failed to accelerate, and then stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where an unknown diagnosis was provided. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver stopped to make a turn and another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. No warning light was illuminated. The rear-ended collision caused the front driver's side headrest to detach and fly off into the trunk of the vehicle. The contact's son suffered a sore leg, a small cut above the right ear, and confusion after the crash. Medical attention was received. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard but was not yet deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
There is no specific incident, but this Recall is 11 months old, and Ford still has not provided the remedy or parts. Our car could catch fire. What is the delay from Ford? They should replace my unsafe vehicle with a brand new one. Possible Engine Fire situation.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On January 31, 2024, The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE24002) to investigate loss of motive power allegations in model year (MY) 2021 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. Consumers reported a loss of engine power accompanied by complete electrical system failure either while driving or after stopping at a traffic light or stop sign. The vehicles generally could not be restarted, and the incidents were commonly diagnosed by dealerships to a failed 12-Volt (12V) battery. On April 12, 2024, Ford issued safety recall 24V-267 covering 456,565 MY 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles. The recall addressed loss of motive power resulting from sudden degradation of the 12V battery during the drive cycle. The recall remedy consisted of software updates to the body control module and the powertrain control module. The updated software aimed to provide warning to consumers when the battery is failing and inhibit certain vehicle functions which can lead to loss of motive power incidents. Additionally, Ford removed the existing 12V Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) as both a service component for the subject vehicles and original equipment for newly built Bronco Sport vehicles (during MY 2024 production), replacing it with a more robust absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery. The same AGM battery had been incorporated into Ford Maverick production in late 2022. Following recall 24V-267, ODI received loss of motive power complaints in vehicles that had previously received Ford’s software-based remedy. Consumers reported that they did not receive warnings related to the 12V battery or the vehicle’s electrical system before the loss of power. On November 15, 2024, ODI opened Recall Query (RQ24014) to assess the effectiveness of the 24V-267 recall remedy. On January 19, 2025, Ford issued recall 25V-019 covering 272,817 MY 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles. The new recall addressed the same hazard as 24V-267 but required replacement of the existing 12V battery with an AGM battery as the remedy. Ford reported that following the opening of RQ24014, it evaluated several field-returned 12V batteries, and determined that EFBs produced by battery supplier Camel potentially contained internal manufacturing defects causing loss of motive power. Ford further concluded that the software updates provided in the 24V-267 recall remedy were unable to detect battery failures quickly enough to avoid loss of motive power. Vehicles previously within the scope of recall 24V-267, but outside of the scope of recall 25V-019, are equipped with EFBs produced by a different battery supplier (Clarios). When recall 25V-019 was issued, Ford had not identified any Clarios EFBs exhibiting the same failure mode as the Camel EFBs. In light of Ford’s recall action, ODI is closing this Recall Query. The agency will continue to monitor loss of motive power complaints in Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with Clarios EFBs and reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
On April 11, 2024, NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation (“ODI”) opened this Recall Query (“RQ”) to investigate the adequacy of, including various safety concerns associated with, the remedy program in recalls 22V-859 (filed Nov. 18, 2022) and 24V-187 (filed Mar. 8, 2024). The vehicle population associated with these recalls includes certain MY 2020-2022 Ford Escape vehicles and MY 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with 1.5L engines. The safety defect in each recall involves high-pressure fuel injectors that are susceptible to cracking, allowing liquid fuel and fuel vapor to migrate onto hot surfaces within the engine compartment potentially resulting in underhood vehicle fires. The remedy programs described in recalls 22V-859 and 24V-187 are identical and involve both a software component and a hardware component. Specifically, Ford developed an updated engine control software designed to detect a pressure drop in the high-pressure fuel rail, provide instrument cluster messaging to the driver, invoke a strategy to disable the high-pressure fuel pump, derate the engine output, and lower the temperatures of possible ignition sources within the engine compartment. Additionally, Ford would install a tube into the engine’s cylinder head drain hole to shunt spilled liquid fuel past the various hot surfaces within the engine compartment and ultimately discard the spilled liquid fuel onto the roadway. ODI identified various safety concerns with this remedy program, which, among other things, notably did not include repairing or replacing the defective part and potentially did include the introduction of new safety defects (like fuel spilling near the spark plugs and fuel spilling onto the public roadway). NHTSA opened this investigation to evaluate these concerns with the remedy program, including whether the vehicles were still susceptible to underhood fires even post-remedy. As described in more detail in the Additional Summary posted simultaneously with this resume, ODI conducted a thorough investigation that included analyzing data and other materials received in response to two Information Requests, as well as inspections of post-remedy vehicles that experienced an underhood fire. ODI and Ford worked to identify and locate vehicles that experienced post-remedy fires and conduct joint vehicle inspections. ODI’s investigation also prompted Ford to initiate a more in-depth evaluation of the defect, including Ford’s conducting component level testing of high-pressure fuel injectors. ODI met with Ford on several occasions throughout this investigation to jointly conduct certain of these described tasks and to discuss test results. A collateral issue surfaced as a result of this investigation: in March 2025, Ford realized that despite relevant repairs having been recorded as successfully completed, approximately 33,576 vehicles subject to recalls 22V-859 and 24V-187 did not have the software component of the remedy program installed correctly. Thus, on March 27, 2025, Ford filed a new related recall (25V-165) for these vehicles, notifying NHTSA and the public that they were still at risk of experiencing an underhood vehicle fire due to cracked fuel injectors despite the consumer having had their vehicle remedied pursuant to one of the two earlier recalls. In June 2025, Ford committed to implementing a new remedy program to repair the vehicles. On July 11, 2025, Ford documented this commitment in a new recall filing (25V-467), which explains that Ford’s upcoming remedy program will involve proactive replacement of all high-pressure fuel injectors within the recall population. In view of the recall action taken by Ford, ODI is closing this Recall Query, which was opened given NHTSA’s concerns that the initial remedy programs of the software to detect the pressure drop plus installation of the drain tube did not constitute an adequate repair. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
On January 31, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE24002 to investigate allegations of loss of motive power in model year (MY) 2021 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. At that time, ODI had received 31 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs), with consumers commonly reporting a loss of engine power accompanied by complete electrical system failure which occurred either while driving, or after coming to a stop. The investigation revealed that MY 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and certain MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles are equipped with a 12V enhanced flooded battery (EFB), which may experience an abrupt failure during a drive cycle. The failure is the result of an internal corrosion issue, which is influenced by long exposure to high under-hood temperatures. If the sudden loss of 12V battery voltage is not detected by the vehicle’s battery management sensor, the vehicle can experience a loss of power event without providing any warning to the driver. Following a loss of power due to battery failure, the vehicle may be without all 12V accessories including hazard lights and typically will not be able to be restarted. In its March 2024 response to ODI’s information request, Ford provided 367 customer complaints (including field reports, lawsuits, and legal claims) and 1005 warranty claims relating to the alleged defect. When combining ODI and manufacturer failure report data, there are 1,368 unique VINs represented across MY 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. One of the VOQs submitted to NHTSA reported a minor rear-end collision resulting from a loss of power event. Included within Ford’s complaints were a reported single-vehicle collision and a vehicle fire which occurred following a loss of power event at a traffic light (fire cause and origin was not determined). Additionally, across ODI and manufacturer data, there were 12 allegations of either acid leaking from the 12V battery or smoke emitting from the battery area within the engine compartment. On April 12, 2024, Ford submitted recall 24V267 for MY 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and certain MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles (total population 456,565). The recall remedy provides updated calibrations to the body control module and powertrain control module. Ford indicated that the update will result in improved detection of 12V battery state of charge during drive cycles and will provide notification to the driver if the battery significantly degrades while driving. Additionally, Ford has replaced the EFB with an absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery as both a service component for the subject vehicles and as original equipment for Bronco Sport vehicles with production dates beginning in mid-March 2024. The warranty claim rate for peer vehicles equipped with an AGM battery is substantially lower than that for the subject vehicle population. In view of the recall action being taken by Ford, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
