These records cover every 2014 Ford Fusion Energi. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
Transmission going out
The car is suffering random shutdown and intermittent times. The battery is no longer holding a charge and when it shuts down this places me at extreme risk. Ford is unable to fix it so this is no longer happening without replacing the High Voltage battery - battery from ford alone is 11k. I cannot be the only one who is dealing with this car doing this.

Ford denied my recall on my vehicle charging cable as it indicated that it IS only working to repair ford focus electric vehicle charging cords. my cord overheated, damaging my garage electrical outlet. manufacturer recall number18s24 nhtsa recall number18v592
I happened to be driving at the time of the incident, when my car began to run hot. I saw there was a recall on the part that was causing the car to run hot but when I brought it to the dealer attention they didn't have recall information for my vehicle but for others vehicles, also since they claim to not have recall on just mines they also didn't have means to providing a part for me to purchase but told me to look in junkyard. I recently was at the dealership two months before the incident for almost a total of eight recalls that needed to be done they fixed them and I was happy but the next day comes around and the information light comes on saying see dealer so I went back and they wanted to charge me for something they just examined. I just want to be safe in my car again or just take car off market please to much going on as far as recalls for this model ford fusion titanium 14 energi

Airbag light has been constantly illuminated since one week ago sunday. there seems to be an electrical problem with the car. in the past year, the 12 volt battery has died twice requiring replacement. the first time it happened all the lights went on the dash and it did not have as much power. (car still started) power steering seemed inhibited. the 2ND time it wouldn't start at all. the airbag light IS on and it seems that there IS something wrong with the sync system. I don't know if the car has a short or what. ford dealers are inundated with work and don't have time to look at the car.
The wall charger IS melting our outlet because it IS overheating when it's charging the car.
The charge melted, almost caught fire the electrical 110 volt gfi rept in my garage. I created a case with ford and they say too bad car IS out of warranty. my wife and 20 month old son were in the house when the rept started smoking. I could have lost my family and my home. ford says no issues and they cannot help or do anything. if you go to myford mobile and type in fusion melting repts to pages of owners with the same problem have made comments. the car IS at big valley ford in stockton and they cannot figure out why it has melted a gfi rept. the are IS unsafe and poses a life threatening risk to my family if I plug it in to charge, the entire point of purchasing this car. My 2014 ford fusion had motor mounts go out on it, I'm being told that it IS not covered under my manufacturer warranty. I'm not exactly sure how that IS not covered. I've had nothing but problems with this car it's been to the dealer probably about 53 of the five times it's been in for the cross traffic s I'm not exactly sure how that IS not covered. I've had nothing but problems with this car it's been to the dealer probably about 53 of the five times it's been in for the cross traffic sensor malfunction and yet again it still IS showing malfunction I am so close to filing a lemon law on this vehicle it's a 2014 with 60,000 miles and I can't even trust it to get me to and from work anymore. Worst purchase of my life. back to the motor mounts I was leaving work put the car in reverse and when I was backing up I felt a major vibration I got out and checked everything started rocking the car back-and-forth by hand and realize the engine was moving abruptly took it to the dealer where I was told it IS not covered by my warranty and I will have to pay approximately $395 and cover my own rental car it just doesn't seem fair, also had to pay to have a new steering wheel and but put on before the recall came out, and was told I can't get reimbursed because it was 6 months before the recall was issued.
Safely stop now displayed on the message center left screen with no prior warning. The car immediately started to loose acceleration speed on jefferson avenue and I was able to pull off the road after exiting the interstate I 64 onto the main road of 45 mph speed limit. The car automatically reduced speed to 25 mph to 2 mph. I parked the car in a nearby car dealership parking lot and had to have the car towed to the dealership as of july 27TH and have not received a return call to find out what IS causing this dangerous situation that could have caused a major accident if I was on the interstate and could not pull over safely.
My car started stalling after every gas up, found it to be this part ford oem emission system-hose assembly dg9z9d289d* I have tried to get this part but I am told it IS on back order from ford and they won't start sending these out until march of 2018 - this issue causes pressure in my gas tank so much that the pressure makes a loud noise coming from the tank and if you press open the cap less gas input it releases pressure loudly - secondly when this happens the car will not idle and stalls out when you let off the gas - on the highway and everywhere when you let of the gas!!!and won't re-start until after 4 or more tries. this IS dangerous!!!! IS my gas tank going to explode!!! Or will I die after someone hits me when it stalls out? *Tt the consumer stated that she replaced evaporative purge valve and it corrected. *Tr
Vehicle IS emitting a strong odor of gasoline. the inside smells and the garage smells of gasoline. there IS no gasoline dripping on the ground.
A safety recall (16s42) was issued for "seatbelt pretensioner cables may separate during deployment and may not restrain the occupants in a crash". all the ford dealerships around me (zip 95008) say they cannot do the recall until january 2018. this seems like a serious problem that should be addressed much more quickly. ford should provide more parts in a timely manner and allow dealerships to do the repairs. I was told that by a dealership that they are allowed to only do so many of these repairs per week and that IS why their appointments are so far out. I do not feel comfortable driving myself and my kids around until january of next year in a car where the seatbelts might not work.
My car has had an open recall for the seatbelts since 03 nov 2016, and there IS still no remedy available. this IS in addition to several other recalls, including one a couple days ago for faulty door latches, and the overall poor quality of the vehicle. I can't even trade it in because no one wants a vehicle with an open recall. I feel that five and a half months IS an excessive time for a recall to still have no remedy.
Open recall number 16s42 - seat belt tensioners not operating correctly - ford will not authorize alternate transportation. I am writing to file a complaint on ford that they will not provide alterante transportation for a clear safety issue
Vehicle was parked in my driveway. I dropped an ink pen between driver seat and center console. When reaching for the pen with my left hand, I suffered a laceration on the outside of first knuckle of my thumb. There IS a very sharp, exposed metal edge on the framework of the drivers seat.
TL* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion energi. While driving various speeds, the transmission failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutches needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. updated 04/07/16*lj the consumer stated the transmission would slip when changing speeds. It shuddered and vibrated when the changing gears. the dealer made some adjustments to the tcm, which helped a little, but not a lot. Updated 04/14/16.*jb
The charger (shoreline) nearly caused a house fire. the charger overheats at the wall socket. it IS not the wall socket because I tried it on a commercial outlet on a new 20A circuit breaker. the online chat rooms are full of concerns about this. I called ford and they did not seem to take the concern seriously at all. the vehicle IS in park, turned off and charging.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004L that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All Takata inflators produced with propellant 2004L contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated PSAN inflators. It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). This investigation does not supersede EA15-001, which remains open.
In December 2019, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation based on 235 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging doors failed to latch when closed, and/or inadvertently opened while driving, on model year (MY) 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta, and 2013-2014 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. Some VOQs reported the failure occurred after the latch had been remedied under a prior recall which involved fracture of the latch pawl spring tab due to thermally induced cyclic fatigue. Other VOQs alleged a similar failure in vehicles not previously recalled. A latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a ?door will not close? condition, however in certain somewhat rare circumstances, may result in the door coming open while driving. In response to ODI?s investigation, Ford has announced three field actions, as discussed below. On March 23, 2020, Ford submitted Safety Recall 20V-177 (Ford 20S15), a regional recall campaign to address door latch failures in vehicles not previously recalled under Safety Recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 and 17V-210. The recall affects vehicles currently or ever registered in certain high ambient temperature states (see 20V-177 for affected states). As a remedy, Ford will replace all four door latches free of charge. On August 24, 2020, Ford issued a non-safety regional field action (Ford 20R01) to address door latch failures on the same model/MY vehicles not covered under 20V-177 (i.e., not currently/ever registered in affected states). According to Ford, spring tab failure rates for vehicles covered by this action are about half that of the 20V-177 vehicles. Under this action, dealers will replace all door latches, free of charge, if either; a) the vehicle exhibits a related latch concern, or b) if the vehicle owner expresses a concern about the latches in their vehicles. Details can be found under NHTSA TSB No. 10190990, a copy of which is available in this investigative file available at NHTSA.gov.On June 8, 2020, Ford submitted Safety Recall 20V-331 (Ford 20S30) addressing vehicles previously remedied under NHTSA Recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 and 17V-210, where the repair may not have been properly completed, specifically not all of the door latches were replaced, or replaced correctly. This recall involves an inspection of the latches, with the option for a consumer self-inspection; owners could view the date codes on their latches (and confirm child safety locks are present on the rear doors) and then submit the information to Ford?s mobile app or website. A dealership inspection option was also available. Any vehicle found to have unreplaced defective latches requires the replacement of all door latches as directed by Ford.Regarding the 4,494 reports cited above, 1,485 involve scope-related failures (with 13% alleging door opening), and the remaining 3,009 reports involving remedy concerns (with 18% alleging door opening - note ODI was unable to verify the allegations of door opening). The three ODI injuries were all relatively minor. Ford?s reported injury incidences include one (unconfirmed) report of an ejection, three minor injuries with the others involving undisclosed injuries. Ford?s crashes involved two (unconfirmed) crashes alleging the incident door contacted another vehicle and three involving doors striking other property. The recalled vehicles include MY 2011-2015 Ford Fiesta, 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015 Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKC, 2013-2015 Ford Escape and Ford C-MAX, 2012-2015 Ford Focus and 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect.Ford's actions address ODI's concerns at this time. ODI will take further action if warranted by new information. The reference (OD
