  Risk

  Without the rear red reflectors, the motorcycle has reduced visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy

  Harley-Davidson has notified owners, and dealers will install the replacement reflectors, free of charge. The recall began August 19, 2019. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0629.

  If the clutch cannot be disengaged it can result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy

  Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will install a new secondary clutch actuator piston assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 5, 2018. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0173.

The dealer (cowboy harley-davidson of austin, 10917 I-35, austin, tx 78747, 512-448-4294) was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available for the recall remedy. The contact stated that the clutch failed to disengage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the contact was number three on the waiting list. The failure mileage was unknown. • 10244929SERVICE BULLETIN M1611: MILWAUKEE-EIGHT TRANSMISSION SHIFT DRUM UPDATE. PURPOSE: This bulletin informs dealers of a transmission shift drum running change to all variants of the Milwaukee-Eight powertrain. Starting on October 4, 2023 all Milwaukee-Eight CVO, Police, Softail, Touring and Trike models will be assembled using a common shift drum. The new shift drum (Part No. 33900265) is replacing the old shift drum (Part No. 33900172). The new shift drum was developed to include the "D" shaft on the end to interface with the Gear Position Sensor on 2023 CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE) and Road Glide (FLTRXSE). For all other Milwaukee-Eight models, the bearing door has been modified by adding a pocket to accept the "D" shaft of the new shift drum.
• 10242096SERVICE BULLETIN M1600: 2023 MILWAUKEE EIGHT OIL PAN FASTENER CHANGE. PURPOSE: This bulletin informs dealers that there is a running change for the oil pan fastener on all Milwaukee-Eight powered Softail and Touring models. As of Monday July 31, 2023, Powertrain Operations (PTO) in Menomonee Falls, WI is building all Milwaukee-Eight Softail and Touring powertrain models with new oil pan fasteners (Part No. 12600369). The old fasteners (Part No. 4741A) will still remain available for dealer purchase. The oil pans for the Softail and Touring models were updated to accept the new fastener geometry. Their Part Numbers have been superseded to (-A). Touring will be (Part No. 24400180A) and Softail will be (Part No. 24400208A). The new fastener will not fit with an old oil pan but the old hardware will still be available for dealer purchase. The old fastener CAN be used with a new (-A) oil pans. The fastener torque has not been changed.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are designed, manufactured and tested to be operated with both of the riders hands on the handlebar. If you or a customer are experiencing a handling concern, refer to the TROUBLESHOOTING, HANDLING, IRREGULARITIES found in the MAINTAINANCE chapter of the appropriate service manual. The service manual process is not intended to validate factory settings, but rather to be used if a concern is presented. Through extensive testing, Harley-Davidson has developed the service manual specification and adjustment procedure as the optimum steering head bearing adjustment and verification method to achieve the desired handling characteristics across all speeds and conditions. Addressing a perceived feel of low speed wobble, oscillation or free play by adjusting the steering head bearings beyond the service manual specification may have an adverse effect on motorcycle stability.

The increased media supports the higher oil flow rate of MKE-8 engines. Fitment, clearance and performance testing has only been performed on MKE-8 vehicles. All Twin Cam vehicles continue to use the current oil filter.

This system offers convenient monitoring of air pressure within each tire, and alerts the rider if tire pressures fall below specification. Both dealers and customers have raised questions regarding TPMS and how the system works. The intention of this bulletin is to answer some questions, and improve the general knowledge of: Functioning tire pressure sensors & Installation practices. All testing of the TPMS is done by using the TPMS diagnostics and diagnostic tips in the service manual or its supplement of that year and model vehicle or using DIGITAL TECHNICIAN II (PART NUMBER: HD-48650).
• 10162967SERVICE BULLETIN M1492: 2017 - 2019 TOURING - MILWAUKEE EIGHT - INNER PRIMARY VENT. Purpose: Revision. Harley-Davidson has learned that a small percentage of dealers and customers are finding low transmission oil levels and high primary oil levels during normal maintenance intervals. This could indicate that oil is transferring from the transmission case to the primary housing through the transmission mainshaft. A inner primary vent service kit (Part No. 26500027) is now available to address this issue. The kit allows the primary to breath and prevents excessive pressure. All markets are affected.
• 10155120SERVICE BULLETIN M1359: 2014 - 2016 TOURING - HYDRAULIC CLUTCH LINE REPLACEMENT. PURPOSE: REVISION. A leak may occur on some Touring, CVO Touring, Police Touring and Trike models equipped with hydraulic clutch. The leak may occur when the line is replaced or when a P&A clutch line is installed. The area of the leak is at the joint where the clutch line attaches to the secondary clutch actuator (right side of the transmission). Required Dealer Action: Use Snap-on Flare Nut Socket (Part No. GAN85087B) and Snap-on Torque Wrench (Part No. QJR117F or similar) to tighten flare nut. Each time clutch line is installed or torque is adjusted to determine if leak is still present, bleed the clutch system.

Purpose: During recent dealer visits to observe steering head bearing adjustment process, Harley-Davidson staff observed that some dealers are not correctly following the service manual steering head bearing adjustment process. Issue: Steering head bearings on 2014 and later Touring, CVO Touring and Police Touring motorcycles which may not have been adjusted correctly using the service manual procedure at dealerships. Resolution: Never make adjustments by feel. Always follow the process in the appropriate service manual.
