2026 Honda HR-V EX-L — Windshield Optical Defect Research 1. Description of the problem My vehicle is a 2026 Honda HR-V EX-L. The windshield has multi-colored bubbles and streak across the glass that becomes particularly noticeable when the sun is low in the sky. The glass appears to scatter sunlight, creating numerous tiny specks or a sparkling effect that is distracting when driving. I have thoroughly cleaned both the inside and outside of the windshield, but the condition has not improved. My dealership has not provided a satisfactory explanation or resolution. I am concerned that this may be a windshield manufacturing or optical-quality defect that Honda has not yet formally recognized because relatively few owners have reported the same symptom. 2. Research findings Reports of similar windshield symptoms Owners of other Honda models have described tiny spots or apparent imperfections in their windshields that become especially noticeable when driving toward the low sun. One discussion on the Unofficial Honda Fit Forums describes a similar effect involving tiny spots across the windshield and light This defect blocks your vision while driving
On September 30, 2026, the factory-installed moonroof glass on my 2026 Honda HR-V EX-L suddenly shattered while I was driving on the freeway. There were no warning signs, unusual noises, or indications of a problem beforehand. I suddenly heard an extremely loud bang, comparable to a gunshot, rather than the sound I would typically associate with a small object or rock striking the vehicle. I did not observe any object striking the glass or identify an external impact that could explain the incident. There were no large commercial trucks, 18-wheelers, or trucks with open beds in my immediate vicinity that I observed at the time of the incident. The sudden shattering was extremely alarming, particularly while traveling at highway speeds. Unexpected breakage of overhead glass poses a potential safety hazard because it can startle or distract the driver and potentially expose vehicle occupants to broken glass. The moonroof glass was severely damaged and required replacement. I arranged for the repair through an independent automotive repair specialist at an out-of-pocket cost of $1,079. The original shattered glass was removed during the repair, and I do not know whether the repair facility retained any fragments for inspection. However, I have photographs documenting the damage and fracture pattern immediately following the incident. To my knowledge, the cause of the failure has not been independently established or confirmed by Honda. I have also submitted a formal complaint to American Honda Customer Relations. I am concerned that this incident may indicate a potential defect involving the factory-installed moonroof glass. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA can document the incident and evaluate whether similar unexpected glass failures have occurred in other Honda HR-V vehicles.
Brake System Problem warning, an issue with the Lane Keeping Assist, the vehicle pulling to the right, and, most importantly, an incident where the brake pedal went all the way to the floor while braking.
While driving my 2026 Honda HR-V with about 536 miles, I turned on the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). Shortly afterward, multiple warning messages began appearing and cycling on the instrument panel while I was driving. They included brake system problem, low speed braking problem, lane keeping assist problem, road departure problem. I called Honda service department was told it was safe to drive since I was only a couple miles away. I drove directly to the Honda dealership while the warnings were still occurring, and dealership personnel observed the warnings. I let them know what happened and that I could also hear a grinning and whistling noise on my way there. The technician said that afyer the vehicle was turned off and restarted, the warnings disappeared. The dealership checked the vehicle and told me the codes had cleared. They found one code related to an oil-related valve and ordered the part, but told me they did not believe that code/part was related to the multiple warnings I experienced and were not certain the part actually needed replacement. The repair order has been left open while they wait for the part. I was told the car is safe to drive and was told I would get a call when the part arrives. This occurred on October 2, 2026. Only had the car since 09/19/26. 536 miles when it occurred and I had my two children with me.
There is 7 recalls for the 2026 Honda HR-V. My daughter car which is barley driven had her engine- EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM. POWER MAY BE REDUCED. SEE YOUR DEALER. I made a appointment today to get looked at. They ran a diagnostic test and determine the fuel pump has bunch of problems. I will know more tomorrow when they call me back. Why limit to certain models of these recalls. Honda should take in consideration it could be more than one part number problem. Seeing all the complaints and the VIN for the customers. All these cars are made in MEXICO. GO LOOK INTO THE WARESHOUSE THAT IS MAKING THESE CARS TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY DOING. If the location is having all these issues investigate the location problem.
The steering frequently binds or sticks during both high-speed and local driving.

Driving and all of sudden rear windshield shattered glass flying scared me! Took it dealership and technician inspected vehicle and quoted that it shattered due to wires getting hot and shattered the glass. Of course isn't covered on my insurance but other consumers having same problems. My insurance company will not pay for rental while it's being repaired and it's costing me get it fixed.
Ive noticed the horn is really quiet. I live in a smaller city but traffic does get busy still and often times people dont check there surroundings. Theres been multiple times where ive used my horn to honk at someone over taking my lane and most of the time it helps and the move away. Ive noticed in this car they never back off. After work one day i was honking my horn in the parking lot to get my coworkers attention who was in her car to look at me. She never looked up even tho she was parked right next to me. I asked her if she could hear me honking and she said not at all. So i decided to test it out more. I noticed i was behind a friend driving and tried to honk to get there attention and they never looked back so i asked her later if she heard me honk cause i was right behind her and she said not at all. I was following my dad one day and honked and while he didnt hear anything my mom did hear me honk but she said to him "did she honk at you" because she barely heard it. While horns are sometimes over used in the past using my horn has saved me from some near accidents in my last car. I do not have faith in the horn that is in the HRV that would be able to get the attention of another driver, mind you ever time ive honked at my friends and family i was either not moving or going less than 30 mph. Most close calls happen on a busy interstate that runs through the city i live in where people are going 55+ there is no way my horn can be heard on the interstate. While nothing has thankfully happened yet i would hate for something to happen because i was not heard
I had two front wheel studs break at 86 foot pounds after a tire rotation at 10,000 miles. I immediately contacted my Honda dealer who ignored me. I eventually got ahold of the service manager who declined to help with the repair, but did offer a free alignment. The design of the front hubs requires removal of the wheel bearings and hubs. I replaced both front hubs and wheel bearings. Honda did nothing to help. I can find no explanation for wheel studs breaking at 86 foot pounds on a new Matco digital torque wrench. Torque was confirmed with a calibrated wrench. Really questioning safety and quality on this vehicle and Honda ignoring the situation.
NCDS/CDSP Statement of Claim Case Reference (Honda): XXX Vehicle: 2026 Honda HR-V | VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 1,227 Description of Dispute: I am seeking reimbursement of $1,200 for the repair of a manufacturing defect. On [Date], only six weeks after delivery, the rear spoiler with light assembly (Part# 74950-3W0-A11) detached and flew off the vehicle during normal driving. Evidence of Manufacturer Defect: Professional Inspection: I presented the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership. After a physical inspection and photographic documentation, the dealer determined the failure was a manufacturer defect. They verified the condition of the mounting points and proactively ordered the replacement part under warranty. Arbitrary Denial: A Honda District Manager denied the claim via email without ever physically inspecting the vehicle. The denial cited "probable outside influence" but provided no engineering report, inspection notes, or factual evidence to support this conclusion. Legal Presumption: Under the California Song-Beverly Act and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the burden is on the manufacturer to prove misuse or "outside influence" for a failure occurring at 1,227 miles. A factory-installed component detaching at this mileage under normal use is a "nonconformity" to the express warranty as a matter of law. Attempts to Resolve: I opened a case with American Honda (Case #XXX). Despite the dealer’s initial findings and my documentation of the failed mounting points, Honda has refused to honor the 3-Year/36,000-Mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. About 3 hours into a 4 hour drive (while the car was only months old, with just 1800 miles), the sound switched from playing the radio at a normal volume to suddenly extraordinarily loud crackle, static, popping noises. The noise continued at this indescribably high volume for about one minute while I tried anything to help -- I tried adjusting the volume knob, unplugging my phone (which was plugged in just for directions), switching inputs, switching from FM to AM, pushing the volume knob in to turn the whole thing off, etc. Nothing stopped the noise. After about 90 seconds, it stopped, but I still do not know why. After that, I could not get any sound to play. My ears rang the entire rest of the drive (another 1 hour). The noise was so loud and so sudden that it made me very upset and scared at what could have happened that luckily didn't - I could have easily been so startled to swerve into another lane, and if my 4 year old had been in the back, I am really scared to think of how traumatized he would be, how damaged his ears would be, and what else would have happened. My ears are still ringing today, a full day later.
The hands-free Apple CarPlay system is not working properly in 2026 Honda HR-V cars. Numerous posts from fellow owners on forums with the same issue. Using the phone with hands will certainly increase incident risk.
Car has IPhone Glitch with Honda software. Brand new car does not have the ability to have messsges retrieved. There is an issue with the Honda software for the head unit in 2026 Honda HRV that is rendering the apple CarPlay almost useless as is not working properly and it causes a safety hazard. A 2026 new vehicle that allows for hands free use of CarPlay functions such as reading text out loud and responding to texts allows for safe driving, this is not functional and there are hundreds of people in forums all talking about this. Almost everyone who brings this to the dealer says the dealer claims they know nothing about this, same happened to me, but it certainly seems this is an across the board issue in 2026 HRVs from the research I have done. It sounds like Honda changed the software for the 2026 HRVs and this is happening to people with 2026 HRVs.

The driver-side quarter glass shattered for no apparent reason while the vehicle was parked.
