Risk
Low visibility or obstructed back up lights may not alert other drivers that the vehicle is backing up, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the existing rear stop/turn signal lights, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 06, 2024. Owners may contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 23514.

In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Navistar will notify owners, instructing them to notify Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 9, 2018. Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2014-2017 International ProStar trucks manufactured June 11, 2013, through May 19, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the connection for the cube fuse terminal may break resulting in a total loss of power to the cab and an unexpected engine stall.

An unexpected engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the cube fuse with a chassis-mounted power distribution module (PDM), free of charge. An interim notice was sent to owners on September 14, 2016. Risk
A high engine idle may make downshifting the transmission difficult and the engine brake may be disabled. These factors may hinder slowing down the truck when descending a long grade, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will recalibrate the electronic control module (ECM) to allow it to recognize that the pedal is at the idle position, free of charge. If the fifth wheel and locking mechanism are sufficiently damaged, the locking mechanism may fail to operate as intended and the trailer may unexpectedly detach from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy

If the air disk brake caliper has loose or missing bolts, the air disk brake caliper may come loose from the mounting plate causing the vehicle to pull left or right while braking and lengthening the distance needed to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace any missing bolts and check the torque of all of the air disk brake caliper bolts, free of charge. The recall began on May 7, 2014. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 14508.

We have been unaware of these recalls, and after drivers endangering themselves and public safety, losing time, money, and affected our carrier rating due to unexplained loss of power while driving. We have spent thousands getting towed and useless repairs. The truck has shut off in motion and while idle, from highways to city streets and parking lots

TL* the contact owns a 2014 international prostar plus. While driving 55 mph, the low water and temperature rise warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that every hour, a gallon of water needed to be placed inside the reservoir. The vehicle was taken to gibbs truck center-gibbs idealease fresno (2712 south 4TH street, hwy 99 exit 130 jensen avenue, fresno, ca 93725, (800) 800-7012) where the contact was informed that water was entering the engine and that the egr system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 325,000.

No way to move truck causing a possible rear end collison. Was told by the dealer network this a very common failure and they no longer use this compressor. Dealer recognized problem immediately offering a $5000 upgrade at owners expense. No recalls offered by navistar-international company. Please review for public safety reasons.
