  Risk and remedy

  Risk

  Overheating of the extension cord could melt the oil pan heater plug and/or block heater plug, resulting in an increased risk of fire.

  Remedy

  Isuzu will notify owners and dealers will inspect the trucks. The extension cord and damaged components will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on August 30, 2013. Owners may contact Isuzu at 1-866-441-9638.

  TL* the contact owns a 2010 isuzu nrr. While driving 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and ABS brake module failed. In addition, the brake and ABS warning indicators illuminated simultaneously. The contact was able to stop the vehicle as intended. The contact stated that after returning to work…

  TL* the contact owns a 2010 isuzu nrr. While driving 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and ABS brake module failed. In addition, the brake and ABS warning indicators illuminated simultaneously. The contact was able to stop the vehicle as intended. The contact stated that after returning to work and exiting the vehicle, he noticed an odor in the rear of the vehicle coming from the rear brakes. The contact stated that the brake shoes in the rear of the vehicle seized onto the brake drums due to overheating. The vehicle was towed to hfi truck center (located at 1463 US-22, mountainside, nj 07092, (908) 232-4600) where it was diagnosed that the ABS brake module failed and caused severe damage to the ABS pump, brake seals, brake drums, brake shoes, and wheel cylinder at the cost of $7,500. The vehicle was not repaired and the contact was informed that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 179,750.

It IS important that this label remain, permanently, on the vehicle to identify it as "certified clean idle." carb requires this label as evidence that, at hte time of manufacture, the engine installed met the applicable emission standards. Should the label be found missing or damged during an inspection, a citation and penalties may be issued. If the vehicle IS operated in california with a damaged or missing clean idle label, isuzu recommends vehicle operators follow the 5 minute ess requirement by manually turning off the engine. Following this ess requiremnet will keep the vehicle operation compliant until a replacement label can be installed. "Clean air idle" labels are printed with a serial number and registered to an individual vin. As a result, a replacemnet label will also include a new serial number which must be registered to the vehicle's vin by the manufacturer. The below information IS provided to assit in acquiring, replacing and registering a replacement label.

Operating a vehicle?s diesel engine on fuels and additives that do not meet the vehicle manufacturer?s specifications for lubrication and cooling, or that have improper anti-corrosion properties, can cause drivability problems as well as component damage or even failure. Due to the tight tolerances on modern diesel engines, contaminants such as water can dilute the lubricating properties of diesel fuel and cause engine damage. For instance, water can lead to acid forming in the fuel system, which can be extremely caustic and harmful to the engine. Contamination of high pressure fuel system components may cause symptoms including, but not limited to, the following:

Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down remove power to the onstar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the onstar system IS working release the vehicle. If the onstar system IS still inoperative continue with published service information diagnostics.

• 10083903An investigation of inhibitor switches (replaced for dtc p0707) returned to the warranty parts center has identified a high frequency of switches being replaced with no trouble found (ntf). The most likely root causes of the p0707 dtc are an open F-18 fuse or a stretched and/or improperly adjusted shift cable. In order to better service the customer and to stop the unnecessary replacement of inhibitor switches, isuzu recommends technicians to first check the F-18 fuse, then check, and if necessary, adjust the shift cable before diagnosing dtc p0707. The shift cable adjustment procedure IS provided below for your reference. If additional information IS required, refer to the appropriate service manual.

The fuel injection pipes should be installed onto the new long block assembly after first installing the common rail.
