10244945The following information is provided to clearly explain Isuzus policy for control module (engine, transmission, antilock brake, instrument panel, body control, power interface, etc.) reprogramming. Control module calibrations are regularly updated for many reasons. These reasons may include, but are not limited to: model year change, software corrections, certification compliance, product improvement and specific application requirements. However, the mere existence of a newer control module calibration does not necessarily mean that warranty coverage exists or that the calibration must be installed. It is not our policy to update control modules, under warranty or after warranty, based solely on the availability of a newer calibration file. Below are our guidelines for reprogramming control modules.
10241827The vacuum pump service part for affected vehicles listed in this bulletin has been superseded and is now the same vacuum pump that is the service part for the 6.6L gas engine. 10233458What is IDA? IDA is a diagnostic program that provides: 1) DTC Analysis: IDA analyzed DTCs (currently 35) and then provides quick and easy-to-understand repair solutions 2) DPF Early Regeneration Warning: IDA also reviews the three latest DPF regeneration odometer readings in the Health Report of the applicable VIN on IDA. IDA then analyzes the distances between the three regenerations. If the average of these distances is less than 55 km for a 4HK1 (5.2L) engine, or less than 70 km for a 4JJ1 (3.0L) engine, an alert will be shown on the IDA page in the form of a red regeneration icon. This is an early warning indication that a problem may be forming in the DPF regeneration cycle. However, if the enabling criteria shown above are not met, a regeneration icon will not appear on the IDA for that particular VIN. Detailed instructions on how to use IDA are included in this bulletin.
10225521We have received reports of the front turn signal lenses cracking on Isuzu vehicles. These lenses are cracking from the effects of being washed with alkaline detergents. Alkaline detergents are typically used in industrial settings and are reactive with the paint, metals, and other materials used to make up the exterior components of Isuzu vehicles. Isuzu recommends that only neutral detergents be used when washing Isuzu vehicles. However, if alkaline detergents are used to wash an Isuzu vehicle, it is crucial that all traces of the detergent are rinsed away with water or wiped off as necessary. Allowing alkaline detergent to dry on the turn signal lenses will cause them to crack. Each Isuzu vehicle is originally equipped with an Owner's Manual that includes guidelines for the proper exterior maintenance of the vehicle. The following guidelines are typical of those found in an Isuzu Owner's Manual concerning the use of detergents on a vehicle's exterior.

10190782This information IS being issued to help dealers identify apotential source for fuel contamination. If a customer's complaint leads to the discovery of contaminated fuel, the source of the contamination must be found and repaired. Contaminated fuel may result in many different failures. Some examples of these failures are: plugged fuel filters, poor engine performance, check engine light illumination, fuel system (lines and tank) corrosion (rust), etc...isuzu's failure investigations have found a common occurence of the fuel filler neck being installed incorrectly. This poor installation will allow unwanted material to enter the fuel tank contaminating the fuel. Use the information below to confirm the fuel filler neck IS installed correctly. If the filler neck installation IS incorrect, use the information below to repair the fuel filler neck. Detailed information regarding fuel filler neck installation can be found in isuzu's body builder guide.

10178754Isuzu diesel engines available in the above affected vehicles meet the california air resource board's (carb) optional idling emissions standard of 30 grams per hour of oxides of nitrogen (nox) with no increase in the emission of other regulated pollutants. As a result these vehicles have been approved as "certified clean idle" and are "exempt" from the engine shutdown system (ess) requiremnet pursuant ot section 1956.8 of title 13, california code of regulations. As required by the ess regulation, for "certificed clean idle" vehicles, isuzu has introduced a tamper resistance "certified clean idle" label located on the driver's side door panel. It IS important that this label remain, permanently, on the vehicle to identify it as "certified clean idle." carb requires this label as evidence that, at hte time of manufacture, the engine installed met the applicable emission standards. Should the label be found missing or damged during an inspection, a citation and penalties may be issued. If the vehicle IS operated in california with a damaged or missing clean idle label, isuzu recommends vehicle operators follow the 5 minute ess requirement by manually turning off the engine. Following this ess requiremnet will keep the vehicle operation compliant until a replacement label can be installed. "Clean air idle" labels are printed with a serial number and registered to an individual vin. As a result, a replacemnet label will also include a new serial number which must be registered to the vehicle's vin by the manufacturer. The below information IS provided to assit in acquiring, replacing and registering a replacement label.
10176679Some customers may complain about wind noise and/or water intrusion into the cab from the driver and/or passenger doors of the affected n-series and ftr trucks. 10175864An investigation of returned turbochargers has identified a common occurrence of turbochargers being replaced due to internal oil leaks when, in fact, there IS no oil leak in or other fault with the turbocharger. The perceived oil leak actually may be a normal characteristic of the closed positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) system or some other unidentified condition. The purpose of the closed pcv system IS to keep harmful blowby gas from entering the atmosphere. Unfortunately, blowby gas production and air intake demands do not always match which allows some oil vapor from the crankcase to enter the intake system. As a result, this condition may lead to an incorrect diagnosis. Oil in the intake system IS common for a closed pcv system and IS not a good indicator of a turbocharger failure. The oil seal inside the isuzu turbocharger IS a dynamic seal (not a rubber seal). Air pressure (i.e. Boost pressure) on the compressor side and exhaust pressure on the turbine side keep the lubricating oil inside the turbocharger center housing. A reduction in pressure on either side of the center housing will allow oil to pass into either the intake or the exhaust side of the turbocharger. In order to stop oil from bypassing, the source of the pressure reduction must be located and corrected. The most common causes of this condition are a restricted air filter, incorrect engine oil, loose intake hose clamps, and/or excessive crankcase pressure. In order to better service the customer and help prevent the unnecessary replacement of undamaged turbochargers, we are providing the following inspection information designed to aid the technician in properly diagnosing turbocharger concerns.
10172506Ida IS a pilot diagnostic program that provides two functions: 1) dtc analysis 2) dpf early regeneration warning it IS vital for isuzu to be able to evaluate the performance of this pilot tool. Therefore, ida also includes a feadback process. The feedback provided during the pilot program will demonstrate ida's level of effectiveness and also help improve the ida program. Completing the feedback portion of the ida process after repairing a vehicle IS an integral part of utilizing ida and must be done for each ida suggested repair. The pilot program's initial one year period has been exteded. Please continue utilizing ida as much as possible until further notice. Isuzu commercial truck of america (icta) IS requesting isuzu dealers to use ida for all dtc-related repairs on vehicles that are still under warranty. When making a repair suggested by ida, please print a copy of the ida-suggested repair and attach it to the repair order. If the ida recommendation does not repair the vehicle, icta will reimburse the dealer for performing the suggested repair. Complete the feedback process within ida before submitting a claim. Submit all documentation with the claim. Failure to provide details will delay claim payments. Note: do not use ida on vehicles that are "out of warranty"
10171726In an effort for continuous improvement, isuzu has a need to obtain mimamori ecu (health report) information. It IS critical to obtain mimamori ecu information during the repair process. This information will be used by isuzu engineering to help determine "root cause" for customer's concerns and develop/validate a field fix. Isuzu recognizes that the success of gathering this mimamori ecu information IS dependent upon the dealer technician. Because of this need, isuzu will compensate the dealer/technician for their time and effor to provide critical information. When a vehicle IS presented to a dealer for repair and a dtc IS stored in one or more of the control modules listed below, isuzu engineering requests the mimamori ecu information be downloaded and synchronized. Important: perform the mimamori ecu download before clearing the dtc and before diagnosing the vehicle. Be sure the information IS synchronized before claim submission. Isuzu engineering will be reviewing all claims for this data. -Engine control module (ecm) -transmission control module (tcm) -diesel exhaust fluid (def) control module
