Four days later 4/9/16 on I-65 in alabama we had another blowout, this time passenger side, again causing extensive damage to the camper. this time the tire blew so bad it actually wrapped around the axle (this was the same type of tire as before). the tires were inflated properly at 80 lbs psi. both times we were traveling on an interstate.

Original goodyear made-in-china tires were wearing unevenly after only a few thousand miles. we are obsessive about checking and adjusting tire pressure before each trip. experts recommended checking trailer axle alignment, which we had to do at our own expense even though still under warranty. no trouble found. eventually we replaced all 5 tires, again at our own expense just after the 1-year no mileage goodyear warranty ran out because they were dangerously worn. the new michelins are performing beautifully after 30,000 miles. the goodyear tires were just poor quality. thank goodness we replaced them before they could fail prematurely and cause damage to the trailer or to us.

Our new montana fifth wheel came equipped with goodyear marathon st 235/80 R16 load range e tires. within 7 months of purchase and with 4500 miles on the tires, we had a complete tire failure with the entire tread being blown off while doing 60 mph on a clear interstate with no road hazard. we had checked the tire pressure that morning and had the recommended 80 psi as advised on the tire. one day later, another of the same goodyear tires would not hold air and we were advised by a goodyear dealer that this was also "belt failure." while having these 2 tires replaced, they discovered another marathon tire had flat and bowed out areas to the tread. they only had 2 tires for replacement. these were not goodyear tires. we had to travel and purchased 2 more replacements non goodyear tires. we did not have an accident but there was damage to our camper. *tr

I purchased a new5th wheel rv in july 2013 and I have had 2 tire blow outs within 8 months since I bought it. I always check and maintain the recomended 80 psi cold pressure that the tire calls for and I keep my highway speed below 65 mph. It appears to be tread seperation and it has done extensive damage to my rv both times. I have had the rv repaired by a rv dealer both times. *js

I always inspect my tires before every trip and make sure they are properly inflated to 80lbs. Per the manufacturers recommendation. the trailer IS in the shop right now getting fixed but now I am worried about the other three tires and the spare that are still on it. after doing some research on these particular tires it sounds like there might be a problem with them and that IS why I am posting this. I think that when I get my trailer back I am going to replace all tires with a better brand. *tr

Returning home from a 3 night trip to chama, nm when passenger rear tire of our 2012 5TH wheel trailer blew out. We were traveling at 65 mph on I-40 outside the eastern city limit of albuquerque, nm. There was an exit about 100 yards away so we could pull off with room to replace the tire. Plastic wheel well trim and bottom metal panel were damaged from the shredded tire. We bought a new tire in albuquerque 8/3/13 so we could get back on the road 8/4/13 for a 2 day trip to clovis, nm to meet our son returning from afghanistan. As we were driving on hwy 60/84 at 65 mph near melrose, nm the driver front tire of our trailer blew out. Since this was a sunday afternoon with little traffic on the 2 lane hwy, I was able to pull off and retrieve the blown off pieces of my trailer and tire tread from the hwy. This was the 2ND blow out of the original goodyear marathon st tires in a 3 day span! On monday 8/5/13, I called the trailer mfgr and asked if I should be replacing the blown out tires with some other brand, but their recommendation was to stay with the marathon STS, contact goodyear for a property damage claim and submit a complaint to nhtsa. I have the trailer in the shop waiting for replacement parts and goodyear IS reviewing my claim and inspecting the 2ND blown tire. I questioned them if the other original marathon st tires would also be failing prematurely and they suggested I have a tire retailer inspect them. I inspect them for wear and check tire pressures before making trips and I do not see any defects. I wonder how a tire retailer can predict when a blow out will occur! When I bought the 2ND replacement tire in clovis, the tire dealer asked what pressure I wanted in the tire. I said 80 psi as the tire indicated. He said the pressure should not be based on information on tire but on the load on the trailer. He didn't show me a chart to show the pressure for different loads. I had him inflate to 80 psi. This IS a serious problem...updated 09-18-13 *bf 9/19/13 updated 09/25/2013 *js updated 12/23/201

While outside of salt lake city utah on interstate 15 we experienced a tread separation on our 2012 keystone montana 3100rl. The left rear tire came apart. The tire was a goodyear marathon sts235r 16. The tires were manufactured in the 49TH week of 2011 and came equipped with the trailer when we bought it new in february of 2012. I filed a complaint with goodyear (complaint #[xxx]) in which they said they determined it was not the result of a defect with their tire but a result of a loss of air pressure. I have maintained the pressure in my tires and believe they are wrong. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *Tr
