Pierce has decided that certain model year 1995-2008 arrow xt, dash, custom contender, lance, enforcer, pierce arrow, quantum, saber and commercial fire trucks manufactured from january 2, 1995, through january 21, 2008, contain a safety defect. these vehicles are equipped with fuel tank straps that may corrode due to winter road salt or liquid de-icing…
Risk and remedy
Risk
The vehicles may lose power and stall. in addition, the fuel tank may rupture and spill diesel fuel on the roadway. either of these outcomes may cause a fire truck or surrounding vehicles to slip or slide on the roadway surface, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
For fire trucks that are less than 10 years old, dealers will inspect the fuel tank straps and replace them if necessary with stainless steel straps free of charge. for vehicles that are older than 10 years, pierce IS not offering a free remedy, but will offer for purchase replacement fuel tanks straps and provide instructions for installation. the safety recall began on august 27, 2011. owners may contact pierce at 1-920-832-3000.
Technical service bulletins and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about this vehicle. Ask a dealer for the full document by its number.
11011818This bulletin is to support the dealer network when replacing a ASL 360 ECU that requires programming on the truck.
11011817Software update for fault codes on Command Zone display: This software update may help remove ambiguity between active and inactive engine error codes shown on the Command Zone display.
11010453Alternators with a voltage sense terminal must have a voltage sense wire installed between the sense terminal of the alternator and a positive stud of a battery in the main battery bank. The voltage sense wire provides a more accurate voltage measurement to the voltage regulator, resulting in better electrical performance.
11010452Historically, the main battery cable for the mechanical siren was attached to the cab power distribution area. The large draw of electrical current from the mechanical siren activation, would starve other electronics in the cab. Sometime causing HVAC systems, radios and other electronics to shut down. Rerouting the main battery cable to either battery box, provides an independent voltage source for the siren, causing less electrical impact to cab area components.
11010451Pierce apparatus equipped with Command Zone multiplexing uses the cab power distribution area for determining the vehicle system voltage. However, because of voltage drop between the batteries and the cab distribution area, this is not a true representation of actual system voltage. To improve the accuracy of the Command Zone voltage gauge, a 10/2 harness will be run from the right-side battery box to Output module #1 (or Input Module #1 if Output module is not present on apparatus). This will provide a more accurate voltage input to the module responsible for populating the voltage gauge value.

11008384This bulletin will provide torque ratings for constant torque clamps that are used to secure coolant hoses on Pierce Custom Chassis vehicles. See table below for details.
11008383This bulletin will outline and standardize a procedure for gathering HVAC system information for under-performing HVAC units. Please fill out information and perform the following tasks that are included in the checklist below, prior to submitting a technical support incident on Pierceparts.com.
11006633The purpose of this bulletin is to reduce labor hours by standardizing the location(s) of the unused legs of the SRP harness that contain resistors. This will help technicians in the field perform diagnostics without removing unnecessary panels while searching for these resistors.
10247185As a product improvement, Pierce will be changing coolant probes from a contact probe to a capacitive sensor.
10210778The GEN 1 Husky 3 foam pump from FSC is being discontinued. To keep supporting our customers, a conversion kit is available to install the GEN 2 Husky 3 foam pump in place of the GEN 1.
