This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model…
If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 9, 2014. GM's number for this recall is 14350.
Sabersport IS recalling 16,270 combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies of various part numbers sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles. these headlamps fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment." these lamps do not contain…
Decreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash.
Sabersport will notify owners and offer a full refund for the noncompliant combination lamps. the safety recall began on may 11, 2009. owners may contact sabersport at 1-909-598-7589.
Certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, p/nos. Fp10020-11b1, fp10026-11b1, and fp10027-11b1, sold after january 9, 2007, as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles listed above. the universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer.
Fuel may leak, possibly resulting in a fire.
Delphi will notify owners and replace the upr free of charge. the recall began on april 23, 2007. owners can contact delphi at 877-411-8770.
Certain tradesonic combination lamps sold as replacement lamps for use on the above listed passenger vehicles. combination lamps not equipped with amber side reflectors fail to conform with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.
Lack of amber side reflectors in the lamps will decrease lighting visibility to other drivers and may possibly result in a vehicle crash.
Tradesonic will notify owners and replace the lamps free of charge. the recall IS expected to begin during july 2006. owners may contact tradesonic at 626-934-8884.
Certain passenger vehicles have hazard warning switches that may experience solder joint cracking caused by rapid temperature transitions and the soldering process. if solder joint cracking occurs and results in an open circuit, the turn signals/hazard lamps become intermittent or inoperative.
When the turn signals are inoperative, the driver cannot use them to signal intent to turn that could result in a crash.
Dealers will replace the hazard warning switch. owner notification began on february 5, 2004. owners should contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, pontiac at 1-800-620-7668, or oldsmobile at 1-800-630-6537.
Vehicle description: certain passenger vehicles equipped with manual transaxles (rpo M86) fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 114, "theft protection." when a driver attempts to shift from 5TH gear to reverse, a shift inhibitor causes the transmission to be mechanically in 4TH gear even though the shift lever indicates reverse gear.
In this situation, the key can be removed from the ignition while the transmission IS in a forward gear, which IS not permitted by the standard.
Dealers will disable the 5th/reverse inhibitor by removing a retaining pin and replace the shifter assembly.
Vehicle description: these vehicles do not comply with the occupant protection requirements of fmvss no. 201, "occupant protection in interior impact." the console cover on these vehicles does not stay closed when a specified vertical load IS applied.
In the event of a crash, the console cover could open and the cover or items stored under it could injure an occupant.
Dealers will replace the console latch mechanism.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. the bolt that attaches the rear suspension trailing arm to the left rear knuckle may not have been tightened to specifications during assembly.
The bolt could back completely out of the joint affecting vehicle control.
Dealers will tighten this bolt.
Electrical wiring mess with air for air or heating up I was trying to make it work while driving and then all of suddenly dashboard light went out, car slowed down and stopped. Turned the car off then turned back on dashboard light wouldn't work, windshield wipers stop working. Got stuck middle of nowhere after I pulled over to check with the car won't turn back on till fuse change and engine start working again after put in mismatch fuse box supposed to match but it different fuse for fuse box
The ignition is faulty. My ignition allows my radio to turn on randomly. I could have the car off, I'm not in it at all. If I get inside to go somewhere and the radio is already on before I put the key in. Most times it's not a big deal. The car starts and I go about my business. Recently I've been experiencing needing to get a jump because the battery gets run down over the radio being on. When I'm inside the car and it's running I'm able to pull the key completely out of the ignition and the car stays running until I put my key in and turn it to the off position. I've gotten the recall cards since I bought the car 5 years ago. On the card it lists the cause as "unintended ignition key rotation". I scheduled a appointment for this to get fixed. Low and behold they cut 2 keys for me and that's it! I can make the car available for inspection at any time requested in advance.
4 years after I bought my grand am 2000 I was in an accident and my air bags did not deploy I didnt know there was a recall for that, any way recently I had to replace the switch ignition because the key got stuck and couldnt get oit out. Then just last week the car would not start and it was the faulty ignition switch I paid $380.00 out of ny pocket and I want a refund because there IS a recall 140350 for the ignition switch
When driving my vehicle it will constantly die while driving down the road and I'm unsure of what the problem IS and it's starting to cause very many issues and possibly leading to a very dangerous situation. It's been doing this since monday september 23,2019 and has been doing it all week every time I drive multiple times while I'm driving.
Ignition switch will not turn the switch over the ding ding come home while key in the switch but just stop all of a sudden went to grocery come back out and the switch would not crank the car at all it was stationary
This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall IS performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General motors llc (gm) notified the agency on july 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 chevrolet impala and monte carlo, 1997-2003 chevrolet malibu, 2004-2005 malibu classic, 1999-2004 oldsmobile alero, 1998-2002 oldsmobile intrigue, 1999-2005 pontiac grand am and 2004-2008 pontiac grand prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
My turn signals are no longer working. I found that if I pushed the hazards button, it would make the turn signals work. His worked for a while (about 6 months) but now I do not have functioning hazard lights or turn signals. this happened while I was driving posing a very dangerous situation.
Replaced recall ignition switch had to always jiggle key after that. 2 years later getting worse shuts off by self perioducally ignition switch never replaced right.

Takata recall.
We one day came out to our car to start it and get ready to leave for the day and we had no hazards our blinkers. They do not work at all. So we checked the fuses and bulbs and stuff and they are all fine. The blinkers and hazards don't even work on the inside.
The hazard lights and turn signal won't blink it was turning when this happened.
Replaced passlock cylinder because security light would turn on and unable to start vehicle, engine wanted to turn off when driving , after replacement, had to replace low coolant sensor, now radio, clock, and wipers don't work and car IS wanting to stall while driving, battery light comes on and have to put on park at a light and press the gas so it won't stall . *tr
TL* the contact owns a 2000 pontiac grand am. While driving 35 mph, the security light on the instrument panel illuminated without warning. The contact also stated that the turn signals stopped working. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
This question should be "tell us what happens". my directional levers and lighting to signal right or left does not work most of the time. the light goes on but it doesn't blink at all. I would say this IS a problem 97% of the time. this may also happen with my hazard lights. I understand under nhtsa campaign number that she was a recall in 2003, but my car was never recalled under my vin number. this happens either when the car IS in motion or when it IS still. it happens on city streets, and highways and even in my driveway. this IS definitely a safety issue. I have also had the flashers cleaned and the flasher relay replaced by my mechanic.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
When I bought the car in april of 2013 it look nice and was impress, because of the mileage. about 4 months into driving I heard a thumping in the back. Every time I turned the steering wheel. notice it was getting louder. had it look at and they told me everything look okay. coming home from work that next evening. I could not steer my car and almost hit a telephone pole. was so thankful, I could stop before that happpen. took it in to a mechanic and the undecarriage was almost falling out. it cost me almost $800.00 dollars to get it fixed. The mechanic showed me after I just had it look at, at another place. I was very lucky but I still am having problems. smells of gas and I thought I was getting a safe and paid off car. that has only given me problems!

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Gm conducted a recall (nhtsa recall number 03v327) on model year (my) 2000-2001 alero, grand am and malibu vehicles to replace defective hazard switches that cause the turn signals and hazard lights to fail.the recall covered vehicles built from february 2000 through may 2001 (depending on model).odi opened this investigation based on 64 reports alleging turn signal failure on my 1999-2000 alero, grand am and malibu vehicles not covered under the recall and built prior to february 2000.in december 2004, gm will issue a special policy for my 1999-2000 alero, grand am and malibu vehicles not covered under recall 03v327.the policy covers turn signal/hazard flasher failure for a period of 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) to provide a no cost replacement of the hazard switch.gm will send letters to owners starting december 30, 2004.the actions taken by the manufacturer IS sufficient to resolve the issues raised by this investigation.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take future action if warranted by the circumstances.
By letter dated august 27, 2003, gm notified the agency that it IS conducting a voluntary safety recall (nhtsa recall no. 03V327) involving certain model year (my) 2000-2001 chevrolet malibu, oldsmobile alero, and pontiac grand am.gm's recall covers 670,740 vehicles manufactured beginning february 1, 2000 through may 1, 2001 (alero and grand am) and february 1, 2000 through may 31, 2001 (malibu).gm reports that turn signal failure IS due to solder joint cracking in the hazard switch, and has identified rapid temperature transitions of the hazard switch and the soldering process as the cause of cracking.electrical current to the turn signals flows through the hazard switch and an open circuit in the hazard switch will cause the exterior turn/hazard lamps to become intermittent or inoperative.gm will replace the hazard switch on all involved vehicles.based on gm's safety recall action, this investigation IS closed.
Odi opened ea 02-028 to review complaints of consumers reporting that their fuel gauge was incorrectly displaying the amount of fuel in the gas tank.the fuel gauge receives an electrical signal from a fuel tank sending sensor circuit card.a float arm in the tank moves electrical contacts that rub against the card as the level of fuel rises and falls.disruption of the electrical signal (such as caused by corrosion of the circuit card) will cause incorrect readings to register on the fuel gauge.gm reported in their response to odi dated january 13, 2003 that the primary cause of erratic fuel gauge operation IS excess elemental sulfur in fuel.gm reported that abnormal levels of sulfur sporadically occurred in certain parts of canada and the u.s. Resulting in reports of fuel gauge malfunction.gm modified the sending sensor for vehicles built after october 2000.it made a second sensor modification for vehicles built after january 2003.gm also issued a customer satisfaction campaign (gm number 00101) in december 2000 for u.s. Customers in the state of maine and issued several service bulletins informing dealers of the availability of sensors with improved corrosion resistance.the complaint trend indicates that complaints peaked in late 2000 to early 2001.warranty claims declined since peaking in april 2002.based on the number of complaints and the indication of a declining trend, further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
Odi opened pe02-066 to evaluate the scope and consequence of engine power-loss due to fuel starvation induced by in-tank modular fuel pump strainer restriction.the subject pumps use an external ?sock? Strainer to filter fuel flowing to the pump inlet.this filter can sometimes become clogged, resulting in a reduced flow of fuel to the engine.gm has subsequently modified the strainers to reduce this restriction.analysis of the odi complaint database shows that despite these restrictions, the subject vehicles stall at a rate that IS comparable to those of many peer vehicles.additionally, none of the relevant warranty repair rates exceed 1% at 36 months of exposure.one related crash involves a stalled vehicle that was rear-ended on the roadway, while the remainder involved minor collisions or scrapes.the sole injury consisted of bruising from a low speed frontal crash. Given these circumstances, further expenditure of agency resources IS not justified in this matter.the preliminary evaluation IS therefore closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.the agency will take further action in the future if warranted.
