We have a 2021 Ram Promaster 1500 Winnebago Pocket Solis. We smelled gasoline while loading up gear for a trip. Upon inspection we saw that gasoline was leaking at the seal of the gas tank. We have taken it to the local Ram dealership that confirmed it is leaking at the cold weld of the gasoline tank. Unfortunately, it is all one piece and the whole tank has to be replaced. $2,400 It is very expensive to replace the whole tank. Our van has only 48k miles on it. It is ridiculous that the tank failed so quickly. This is a know facorty defect in the gasoline tanks and it should be warrantied from Ram or recalled with a better design. This failed gasoline tank poses a huge safety concern not only due to fire but also leaking gas vapors into the environment. It should be covered under the Federal Emmisions Waranty. Some states like FL. don't honor that because we don't have emissions programs. We contacted Ram warranty support several times and we were told it was going to be fully covered. When the dealer contacted Ram warranty they deny the liability coverage. We got the run around from Ram. This is so aggravating that Ram is being so negligent about a know significant safety concern and obvious potential fire hazard. This is a bad design of a plastic gasoline tank that eventually will leak at the molded cold weld due to expansion and contraction gas vapors. This whole situation has been a hassle and fight with Ram. We are very disatisfied with the Ram Warranty dept. They basically told us that "sorry you were given wrong information". Not 1x but 2x from agents in the warranty dept. at Ram. So apparently they just lie to owners. Hopefully something is done about this so no one gets hurt or their van catches fire!
My 2021 Ram ProMaster experienced transmission failure and became inoperable. It is subject to Safety Recall 44A/NHTSA 23V-301 involving the 62TE transmission. Before going to Ram, an independent repair facility removed the transmission pan and documented burnt fluid and substantial metallic debris/shavings. The van was then TOWED to an authorized Ram dealer specifically because of the transmission failure and recall. Importantly, the PCM software update had NOT been performed before the failure. Ram performed the update only AFTER the transmission had already failed and metal had been documented. FCA originally identified the software update as an INTERIM repair that did not complete the recall. The current remedy includes PCM updating AND inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the transmission/components. I informed the service manager of the documented metal and offered the independent shop's findings. He said he would not accept the finding because he had not personally inspected it, yet refused to further evaluate the transmission under the recall unless I authorized approximately $500 in customer-paid diagnosis. He repeatedly complained that Stellantis only pays approximately 1/2 hour for the recall. After updating the PCM, the dealer drove the van approximately one mile. The manager acknowledged a transmission issue and abnormal noise and suggested it “may be a pump,” but still did not inspect the documented internal debris. He stated that because the van still moves in reverse, transmission replacement is not warranted under the recall. I was instructed to retrieve the vehicle with the transmission issue unresolved. I have also opened a case with Ram/Stellantis. I request NHTSA review whether Recall 44A was properly completed when the transmission had already failed before the software update, metallic debris was documented, and the dealer declined further recall evaluation without customer-paid diagnosis.
The fuel tank is leaking where the fuel tube goes into the tank. The seal starts to leak and they do not make a replacement seal, you have to replace the entire fuel tank. This is the 2nd Promaster van that I have had and the 2nd time this has happened. This is dangerous to have fuel leaking from the front of the vehicle. This is a poor design, it’s a very common problem with these vehicles that still hasn’t been addressed. It’s also an expensive problem because the tank costs $1300 without labor, and you just can’t buy the gasket itself you have to buy the whole tank.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V552000 (Back Over Prevention). The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer declined to complete the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
fuel tank leaking gasoline. vapors and liquid gasoline leaking from fuel tank
Vehicle experienced severe, premature component failures posing direct safety hazards while operating a commercial work van: 1. Parking Brake Seizure (01/25/2025 @ 49,197 miles): The parking brake pivot assembly completely seized, causing the rear brake assembly to lock up and rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate on public roads. Replaced under Invoice #CHCS490962. 2. Catastrophic Transmission & Drivetrain Failure (05/15/2026 @ 66,082 miles): The transmission suffered recurring fluid leaks beginning at 49,197 miles (pan leak reseal) and 51,648 miles (complete front pump replacement). At 66,082 miles, the transmission suffered complete internal failure (burnt fluid, clutch metal material), resulting in total loss of reverse power and gear slipping while operating. Both front strut mounts failed on the same visit. Experiencing brake lockup and sudden total loss of transmission control under 66,000 miles on a commercial vehicle presents significant safety risks to vehicle operators and traffic.
The specific issue you are dealing with is Chrysler Recall 67C (NHTSA Campaign 25V720). This recall impacts nearly 300,000 Ram ProMaster vans (model years 2018–2026) due to an overheating radiator cooling fan circuit that poses a significant vehicle fire risk. More than 200 of these are from the VA. Edwards Auto Group In Council Bluffs, IA is trying to make the Veterans Health Administration pay labor for a safety recall that is stated above. I am reporting them because it is a safety recall and we should not have to pay for extra cost such as a 2x4. Please see below. It is my understanding that the Dealer is in the wrong here. •Absolute Free Labor: Dealerships enter franchise contracts with the manufacturer requiring them to execute recall repairs for free. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is legally obligated to provide the instructions and billable labor hours to the dealership. •The "2x4" Tool Excuse: If a manufacturer's official technical service bulletin specifies a specific physical manipulation or tool—even a makeshift one like a 2x4—to complete the repair, that labor time is factored into the flat-rate time Chrysler pays the dealer. The dealer cannot pass "difficult labor" or tool costs onto you. •No Deductibles or Add-ons: A dealer cannot apply any separate fees or surcharges to offset their operational challenges while resolving a safety defect.

I had NHTSA recall for this generator done (23E-030) which was to solve the same problem I just had. Apparently, they just moved to a smaller diameter fuel line to fit the fuel pump better. However, this hose also came off my Cummins generator fuel pump and was spewing gas all over the generator and the ground when we ran it. This is a very unsafe condition and I'm surprised, after the recall was performed by a certified Cummins dealer (verified by Cummins) that this "new" fuel line has also come off the fuel pump.
While driving, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power without warning. The driver coasted off the road into a swale and required a tow to an authorized RAM dealer, December 9 2025 to CDJR of Tampa Bay, Tampa FL. The dealer initially indicated the failure was covered under Recall 44A, then changed their position and characterized it as a powertrain warranty repair. Following that repair the vehicle was returned immediately in January 2026 when it would not engage reverse. In May 2026 the vehicle experienced a CV joint failure at 20,411 miles — approximately 1,000 miles after the January repair. The RAM ProMaster 3500 is front wheel drive and CV joints connect directly to the transmission. The recurring failures following the repair present a serious safety concern. The December repair receipt is 10 pages and January is 5 the unit is currently at an authorized mopar shop. Please let us know if you require those receipts.

12/2020 First the TPS sensor failed at 1,000 miles and almost caused an accident. Would not go over 25mph, was shifting hard, and the service engine light was on. Verified and replaced at dealership. Second, the rear view camera stopped working while backing up and almost caused an accident - no back windows - major safety issue. Replaced by me as they have no replacement for it even though its under recall. No warnings. Third, the transmission was shifting hard and fell out while I was driving on the freeway at 55,000. Damaged transmission and crankshaft and joints. Verified and replaced at dealership. No warnings, no lights Fourth, the transmission bolt was found loose, hard shifts, and has an internal breakdown at 71,000 miles. Verified first by independent shop - they tightened the bolt for me and is now sitting at the dealership waiting on another transmission that has been verified and approved under warranty. No warnings, no lights
I have had ongoing issues with the backup camera not related to current recall 25v-552. The image on the dash screen would flip between upside down and right side up. It still the flipped image after being “fixed”. After the dealership “fixed” that problem, it would flip and reverse the image. That was subsequently “fixed” by replacing the dash monitor. However, the poor picture quality during both day and night makes the camera unsafe to use. During the day the image may be completely or partially whited out with glare. At night there are lines and distortion across the screen. In. Addition, the new unit does not monitor van diagnostic information which could impact safety. The van is currently back in shop for another attempt to fix camera system.
My 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 has two open safety recalls with no remedy available: NHTSA Recall 25V-552 (rearview camera FMVSS 111 compliance issue) issued August 26, 2025 NHTSA Recall 25V-720 (cooling fan fire risk) issued October 23, 2025 As of April 2026, no remedy has been provided for either recall. The vehicle is used commercially for rental income, and the lack of a repair has caused financial loss of approximately $500–$1,000 per month. One of the recalls involves a potential vehicle fire risk. The prolonged delay without a remedy is concerning for both safety and financial reasons.
The backup camera failed and the screen is black with an error message. In a large cargo van it becomes nearly impossible to see behind you. The problem was reported to the RAM dealer in Broomfield, they inspected the camera and agreed it needed to be replaced. This issue had been going on for a full year at least.
On [XXX], while driving my 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 at highway speed in Florida, the van suddenly lost all power and came to a near stop, then re-engaged. Vehicles were in front and behind me, creating an immediate risk of serious collision, injury, or death. I pulled over ~30 minutes, restarted, but it could not exceed 20 mph while RPMs were high. AutoZone confirmed limp mode and advised a dealer. I drove it home to Port Charlotte, then had it towed to Gettel Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, Punta Gorda, FL, where after two weeks it was diagnosed with a failed transmission requiring replacement. The transmission can be inspected at the dealership. No warning lamps appeared before failure. Problem confirmed by AutoZone and the dealer. I contacted Stellantis (Case #[XXXX], contact Regina Knox; dealership contact Noel), but repair assistance was denied. The van also has two active recalls, including risk of rolling out of park, unremedied. This transmission failure constitutes a serious and imminent safety defect, creating a hazard to myself and the public. I request NHTSA investigate this defect, compel Stellantis to repair it at their cost, and consider any further regulatory action necessary to prevent injury or death. Vehicle info: 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500, 130,000 miles, VIN [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 1500. The contact stated that the rear-view camera displayed a black screen while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The failure obstructed the vision of the driver, preventing the driver from safely operating the vehicle. The failure was intermittent. The message that the camera was not available was displayed. Several months later, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V552000 ( BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact owned a 2021 Ram Promaster 1500. The contact had stopped at a house that the contact worked on and parked the vehicle on the side of the house. The contact turned off the engine and entered the house, and after twenty minutes, when the contact stepped outside, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The flames spread to the house and caused damage to the property. Some of the paint melted; the garage door, driveway, side door, and some of the landscape were damaged. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. No police report was filed. The contact was informed by the fire department that the fire started due to a mechanical issue in the engine area. Afterwards, the contact was informed by the fire department that the investigation into the origin of the fire was inconclusive. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to an unknown location. The insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the fire. The manufacturer advised the contact that a field inspector would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The field inspector had inspected the vehicle. The contact received an email from the manufacturer stating that the damage was not their responsibility and the claim had been closed. The contact stated that two weeks prior to the fire, a message saying "rear camera not available" was displayed, and an unknown warning code was illuminated on the instrument panel. Upon further investigation, the contact discovered that NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V552000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION) was associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

I purchased the vehicle above used on 4/22/2024 with roughly 70,000 miles on it. At 121,000 miles I lost the reverse gear in the transmission and the vehicle displayed 2 code P0736 and P0792. I call my local Chrysler dealership and inform him of the situation, and the service manage advise me of a recall 44A / NHTSA 23V-301 and asks for the VIN. He tells me that the recall has been completed on the vehicle and the cost to fix (replace the transmission) the vehicle will cost me about $4,000.00. I read the recall notice, and it states the vehicle effected had roughly 133,000 miles. The recall must have been closed by the previous owner but that does not change the fact that the manufactures initial repair did not cure the problem being that my vehicle had the catastrophic failure close to when the manufacture stated the problem in the recall. There are many owners of the same vehicle out there that will attest to the transmission failure on these vehicles. I would hope your department will take a serious look into this matter and hold the manufacture accountable and reimburse the cost of the repairs to the owners.
