The contact owns a 2023 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that upon approaching the vehicle there was a puddle of fuel underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the fuel tank had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 136,000.
My 2023 Ram ProMaster 3500 Van has a fuel leak where the filler-tube goes into the gas tank. I believe others have reported the factory defect & safty hazard. The manufacturer and the dealer will NOT fix it without charging me over $2,500. The vehicle is out of its 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty, but I believe this factory manufacturing defect should be covered. The cost will discourage people from getting it fixed and could lead to major issues later. Jacksonville Chrysler, Jeep Dodge Ram Westside has my vehicle now.
RAM is or was (I hope someone checks) still selling the part with the defective recalled steering assembly for the issue with the corroded wiring harness. My van has been sitting in the shop for nearly a month disabled due to their entire steering system failing from this recalled issue, on top of the two week wait it was disabled waiting for the mechanic to fit it in their schedule. A little over two weeks ago from this day, October 17th, the mechanic ordered that part which makes no sense since the recall occurred at the end of last month yet the company the mechanic was buying from was still selling the part. Once the mechanic shop retrieved the part it was only then when I was told that they were not going to put the part on, for 2600 dollars total in repair, rather they would give me the van back still disabled to wait for the recall repair. Now the van sits for an undetermined length of time until Ram gets around to issuing a recall letter then yet more time when the corrected part becomes readily available on top of the wait for the RAM dealer nearby to have the time get my van in to be worked on which could be two to three weeks wait to get it in their shop. A likely third of an entire year or more my vehicle is disabled waiting for repairs! What's more is two sellers, one could suppose, were able to clean the wiring harness to mask the problem just long enough for the buyer (the dealership I bought the van from used) to buy it then for that dealership, one could suppose, to clean the harness again to mask the issue just long enough for me to buy it used, a dangerous vehicle, and get the van back to my town before becoming disabled. Meaning the dealership sold me a van that had an active investigation of a malfunction that could have had me crash on the way home and they don't have to mention that to the potential buyer?? That's outrageous! Obviously it should be mandatory for a dealership to tell you that information before the sale, not optional.
Water intrusion into the electric power steering rack/harness causing failure. The steering wheel was shaking violently and rendering the vehicle completely undrivable. Once the vehicle dried out, the symptoms went away.
Power steering became inoperable requiring force to steer, with pulsing resistance against the direction being turned. Wasn't a large safety concern, as I was trying to maneuver in a parking lot. Happened suddenly.Lights showed power assistant needs serviced. Had it taken to a dealer where it was determined that water intrusion was the cause. Quoted at $6,500. Can't afford that. Had it taken home
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The plastic fuel tank failed. It cracked/split open and is actively leaking gasoline. The failure is at or near the filler inlet connection where the filler pipe attaches to the tank. The tank is still installed on the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request at Lakeland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (or can be made available wherever the vehicle is located). How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Gasoline is leaking from the tank onto the ground. This creates a serious fire and explosion hazard, especially near the exhaust system. The vehicle cannot be safely driven and was immediately taken out of service. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by Lakeland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on or about October 6, 2026. They confirmed the fuel tank is cracked and leaking and issued a written estimate for complete fuel tank replacement (parts and labor approximately $2,525 for the tank alone). The replacement tank is currently on backorder with an estimated two-week wait. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by the Ram dealer (Lakeland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram). It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. There were no warning lamps, dashboard messages or check-engine lights. We started smelling gas and it was leaving a puddle when parked. There was enough on the ground to catch fire
Rear backup camera fails intermittently when shifting into reverse. Failure is a blue screen on the driver display. Seems the same problem is currently under recall for other Ram models.
This vehicle was a rental RV from Roadsurfer in [XXX]. Electronic issues caused a fault in the ABS brake system that eventually damage the front axle assembly, which was replaced during our vacation. The electronic issue was not addressed so the ABS brake problem continued throughout the trip, causing major safety issues as the brakes kept trying to set while driving at highway speeds. After the repair was completed, we went to an auto repair store to see if we could see codes that were being thrown, and there were multiple codes already present for this issue when we rented the RV. We also discovered an airbag sensor signal that had not been addressed. we then went to a dealer for this model Van and got an additional list of airbag and driver seat sensors that had active codes. The ABS brakes continued to have issues up to every 20 minutes during the entire six day vacation. The rental company was called multiple times and a claim was filed. These issues began with an 80 miles of picking up the RV on XXX and continued until we returned it on XXX. I inquired multiple times throughout the trip if we could return it have a new Van brought to us exchange it, and no options were given. Even issues that are noted in the rental contract are not addressed as repairs are not being done as documented through conversations on social media. The contact owns a 2023 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, there was smoke coming from under the hood. Additionally, there was an abnormal burning odor inside the vehicle. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the failure and extended damages were associated with the unrepaired recall. The contact researched and discovered recalls, NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V720000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and 25V330000 (Back Over Prevention); that were associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was contacted by phone, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with electronic power steering module failure. The contact was informed that the electronic power steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts to repair the vehicle were on back order. The contact stated that the failure was a known failure with the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Ram ProMaster 2500. The contact stated that the emergency control system was inoperable. While driving 3 MPH over a bump in the roadway, the steering wheel locked up. While driving 65 MPH, the failure recurred. Additionally, while reversing, the vehicle stopped suddenly. Prior to and after the failures, an unknown yellow warning light illuminated accompanied by an abnormal dinging sound. Additional warning lights illuminated associated with the steering, hill assist, and emergency control system, and an abnormal brake odor emanated from the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was scary and dangerous. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the contact was informed that there was a reset switch, and that the contact might have jerked the steering wheel. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was fully inspected. The approximate failure mileage was 5,604.
Fuel tank leaking gasoline badly, where tank and fuel fill are connected. This is our 6th Pro Master out of the 41 we have so far. This is a very dangerous gasoline leak and, so far we have been lucky with no bodily injury, death or fires
The steering wheel bucks and becomes immovable when I’m steering. The problem is intermittent and happens primarily when driving slowly, such as getting maneuvered at a gas pump or parking. It has also happened at highway speeds when there are rumble strips, in construction zones, or broken concrete that jars the vehicle.
Total sudden loss of power steering
The contact owns a 2023 Ram ProMaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering suddenly failed, causing the steering wheel to jerk unexpectedly and pull out of the contact's grip. No warning lights illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure; however, the vehicle was not taken to the dealer, diagnosed, or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
While at the dealership service center, the "service electronic power steering" warning light illuminated on the dash and when driven the steering wheel began snapping back, making driving very difficult. The garage informed us that the van is considered unsafe/undriveable until fixed due to the high risk of causing an accident. Upon inspection by the service center, they stated that the steering pump was filled with water from an unknown source and that the harnesses were completely corroded. The wiring/connectors were also completely corroded and appeared to be causing the issues with steering.
The collision warning system fails to work around 90% of the time. This has been reported to the dealer with no resolution. This is a known problem issue on all Promaster vans and Stellantis refuses to fix the software.
Vehicle wheel would suddenly jerk when driving. Video of steering wheel doing this was taken while parked. The suddenness of this created immediate dangers to the driver and any around due to the unpredictability of the steering. Vehicle was brought to a dealer/service center where they diagnosed a corroded wire harness that required the entire steering rack to be replaced. There were no warnings or dash lights on. Vehicle is still at the service center four weeks later because the wire harness is unavailable and the vehicle cannot be safely driven.
The Electronic Power Steering (and EPS Module) failed, making it incredibly hard to steer especially at low speeds. Dealer confirmed that the power steering rack has failed. All power steering features and lights came on, rendering the vehicle inoperable while driving doen the road. This is a serious safety concern.
Power steering electrical connector(s) completely corroded from moisture intrusion, while driving ps shut down and warning light flashed. Had to suddenly correct in a corner without ps, almost had an accident. It is available for inspection, as I cannot afford to fix this yet. Dealer inspected problem, ps rack and harness need replacement at a cost of appr. CAD $4000-5000. Have not contacted manufacturer yet, but will now. Vehicle warranty just expired and has only 26 k km on it.
Sometimes while driving I experienced my powered steering cut out while taking a ramp on/off of the highway, and sometimes when i was trying to park and back up into a parking space while steering at the same time. When the power steering cut out I got lights for "Service Power Steering", "Service ESC", and "Service Hill Assist" all at the same time, and once i got a power steering light. I looked up the issue and found that there is an active preliminary investigation going on for the same issue on the same vehicle, the investigation coded PE26002. Once I handed the vehicle over to the dealer, they found that the power steering had an open circuit on the steering gear. Once they took the connector off they found that the connector was corroded and the wires were burned on the steering gear and main harness side. I had to have them replace both the steering rack, and the main harness.
Factory-installed Onan generator repeatedly throws fault codes causing complete air conditioning system shutdown. Defect present since early ownership. Three failed repair attempts at authorized Thor Motor Coach dealer La Mesa RV. Generator has never reliably held a load. Creates dangerous condition in extreme heat. Thor Motor Coach has refused to honor warranty.
As I was driving, the steering wheel just jerk and the anti-slide feature came on and swerved me into another lane without me wanting to do so
Due to the loss of power steering the tech at Rainier Dodge of Olympia performed electrical testing per diagnostic chart and found water intrusion into steering harness that has corroded wiring from the body harness into electric steering gear motor/module unit. The electric power steering gear assembly and harnesses must be replaced. The vehicle recieved a fault code U0140 stating loss of communication with body control module.
Power steering failure. Power steering comes and goes while driving creating a crash risk. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by dealer Only inspection by dealership No warning lamps or messages.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 19 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging an intermittent or complete failure of the power steering assist system in certain Model Year (MY) 2022-2023 RAM ProMaster 1500, 2500, and 3500 vehicles. Failure of the power steering assist system can result in increased steering effort required to control the vehicle. An increase in steering effort can potentially lead to a loss of directional control of the vehicle. Several received reports allege failures of the steering rack with specific reports citing water intrusion into the electrical connectors of the electric power steering control module. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) to assess the scope and root cause of potential defects in 2022-2023 RAM ProMaster steering systems. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
